Jacob forced away the thought from his mind. There were too many people around, someone might get hurt. Or worse, he might lose control, might become It
again. He would keep up the panicked innocent act for now. He would change only as a last resort. As Jacob calmed himself, all he could think was, Sazura city has a dress code? That made him laugh a little inside. Jacob couldn't help but notice that his interrogator's third question wasn't a question, but thought that telling that to the super buff vampire half strangling half torturing him wouldn't be such a good idea. Jacob continued with the terrified innocent young human man look on his face, staring up into Black eyes' with immense fake fear, staying silent. After a moment, Black eyes did a low guttural growl at Jacob like an agitated lion and lifted Jacob several feet up off the ground then slowly pulled him away from the brick wall, still holding Jacob by his throat. Only to slam Jacob back against it. Jacob winced fiercely, the air knocked out of his lungs, bits and chunks of brick pierced Jacob's back or fell to the ground under the rain. As Jacob slowly recovered and his vision cleared back up, Black eyes was glaring fiercely at Jacob now, their eyes level, the vampire's expression as deadly serious as his tone as he spoke to Jacob once more, now yelling. "Answer me now, boy, or suffer!". Jacob stayed silent, his eyes locked with his interrogator's, unable to look away from the large mixture of pure hatred and hunger in his eyes, marveling at it. Jacob could see the vampire's hunger growing inside of him, the buff vampire needed to drink blood, very soon. Jacob could even see the tips of Black eye's fangs poking out from his lower lip. Jacob's eyes darted left and right frantically, looked around for an escape. And he saw it on his right. About 1 or 2 miles down the road was a simple stone bridge stretching several meters across a chasm. Jacob perked up his ears and heard what he hoped for, rushing water, underneath the bridge. That was his escape route. And he was going to take it. Slowly, as unnoticed as he could, Jacob closed his eyes, beginning the Change from man to beast. At the same time silently praying that he didn't go through the full change as he did that one blood filled night, the vampires not noticing what was happening. Just as he nearly finished the Change, his body starting to grow hair all over, when there was a small tickle in Jacob's mind, telling him something had changed, unable to contain his curiosity, he forced his eyes open and turned his head to turn to his left, the same as the vampires surrounding him were now doing. There, standing in the rain, was a girl, a bit shorter than him, looking around Jacob's age, a tall and lean figure and breathtakingly beautiful. As Jacob stared at her, drinking her all in with his eyes, he realized that he was looking at something truly magnificent. The trio of vampires around him bowed to the girl for a moment, then rose, the Black eyes was the last one to rise, growling in a low pitch at the girl as he had done to Jacob, but with more controlled anger, more discipline. The girl stared dead-on at the three vampires and slowly shook her head, the trio flinching with every shake. Then as she studied the situation, she closed her eyes and smiled a smile of perfect white teeth, the canines and incisors a little too sharp at the tips. As Jacob as well as the trio of vampires around him gazed at the girl, the tension around them faded. Black eyes was the first to break the silence, speaking to the girl as a soldier would to a Drill sergeant. "Hello, Ms. Sanara." . Sanara, where had he heard that name before? Jacob thought to himself.
He furrowed his brow. Black eyes paused, as if he was trying to choose the right words you would say to a goddess. Finally after a few moments, Black eyes spoke once more. "I know it is not my place to give you orders. But, as your protector, I think it would be best if you return to the carriage, Ms. Sanara, Sophia." Black eyes said to the girl in an uncertain tone, almost pleading with her. Jacob smiled as he gazed at the girl, mesmerized by her. So that was the name of true beauty, Sophia. Jacob thought to himself in sweet bliss.
Chapter 3: The truth can hurt to
Slowly, she died down her cheerful smile and let her eyes float over Jacob and the trio of vampires surrounding him. Jacob decided to keep actin casual, hoping for an escape route soon. This wasn't part of the plan. The only reason he was alive was because that girl, Sophia, had shown up. From what he was seeing, the girl was obviously the other vampires superior. He felt Black eyes loosen his grip on his throat. Jacob stayed silent, but in his mind he laughed at his first piece of good luck he has had this entire afternoon. He slowly edges away from Black eyes grip, so close to freedom he can taste it. And in an instant he is ruined. "Who is he?" Sophia says, gesturing in my direction. Jacob feels something well up inside of him, forcing his mouth open and his tongue to move. " Jacob. My name is Jacob, Sophia.". The trio of vampires around him stared at Jacob with mouths agape as if he had suddenly announced he was suicidal. He realized that he probably wasn't supposed to speak at all, let alone to the girl Sophia. And he was right. Black eyes looked like he was gonna murder him on the spot, his fangs shot straight down, gleaming white as they protruded past his bottom lip, hunger and annoyance in his eyes. Jacob could fell his hunger building again, Black eye's reeking of blood lust, the smell metallic and musky. He raised his hand other hand up, the fingernails razor-sharp and curved together like a dagger. But before he could attempt the Change, he heard her speak. "Michael...." she said the word in a calm yet stern voice, akin to how you would talk to a dog. Black eyes hesitated. So that was his name. Jacob almost laughed. Micheal was no more than a lapdog to her. Slowly, Michael let his hand fall to the ground, then turned towards Sophia, Jacob doing the same. "we do not kill civilians. I will speak with the boy. And put him down, i doubt he'll survive with a crushed windpipe, or did you suddenly forget that?." she said in the said tone as before. Jacob didn't have to laugh this time. The other two Jacobs sides lowered their heads, snickering at the display. Michael looked at Sophia like he was going to pick a new target but obeyed, releasing Jacob's throat almost mechanically. As he rose on unsteady legs, he saw Micheal now staring again at him, this time even more hate filled if it were possible, as if this was all hi fault. He stepped to the side, now completely blocking his left side but leaving his right open, Jacob noted. He was still hoping to escape. The girl strolled up to face Jacob as if he were a puzzle to be solved. He rubbed his hands against his bruised throat as Sophia looked him over, so he took the time to do the same. She looked to be eighteen at the least, maybe a little younger than him, with a lithe and slender frame. Her hair was so dark that it nearly shimmered, long and rippling, falling to rest on her shoulders. Their eyes came to rest on one another, unable to break contact. Her eyes were large and intelligent, a startling light yellow. As he stared, mesmerized as before, he felt something in his chest ache. Like a string tied to his heart, pulling and yanking. Sophia was the first to regain her composure. "Though I do not exactly approve of my assistants methods, I must admit you are violating the dress code. Any explanations?" Jacob stood still for a moment. Their is a dress code!!!
