"I hope to catch up with you another time."
And with that, he took his leave through the heavy black door.
Charlie... you suck. Eight
I made it from the incident in the hallway to the other side of the school to the dining hall. It was hot dog day and our table had attracted a third of the population of the student body. Dee and Corey were having a hot dog competition. Corey just demolishing them like a wood chipper to a tree. Dee was actually impressive with her elegance as she ate two at a time. Everyone cheering and I joined in with the chant and clapping.
I laughed as Corey realized that Dee was ahead with four hot dogs, so he smashed down three at a time. I felt a hand on my back from the crowd of people to find myself and the chair being dragged away from the scene and everyone behind me filling my spot. I turned to find that bastard from class standing there with a smug look on his face. I felt like smiling but I didn't bother after how embarrassed he made me feel when he gave me a dirty look in class from the front and how he questioned me with his buddies.
I rose from my seat and raised my eyebrow at him. "What?" I said with my hands on my hips. The chanting grew louder and then a loud cheering. He looked me up and down and then back to my face as he uncrossed his toned arms. "Training at two and six." he said and was already gone for the door. I turned around and saw my bag through everyones legs under the table and thought 'fuck it' as I trailed after him.
I ran out the doors into the grand room and looked around and saw him heading up the large flight of steps. I climbed the stairs picking up speed on my way. I reached the top step and placed a hand onto the side of my ribs to a forming stitch. I speed walked down the large corridor as I looked down each passing hallway. God, this building was, how can I say... SPACIOUS. I finally reached one of the hallways that had a few coming off it. I headed down and then a hand reached out behind me yanking me back and into a room. I looked around to find him with his hand over my mouth and his forearm across my chest holding me to the wall. His face mere inches away from my own. I frowned and couldn't help but think of how beautiful his eyes and face were and then I realized I should be yelling at him.
I pushed him back off of me and he only took a step back no matter how much force I used and he smiled.
Words poured from my mouth like a fire hose.
"What training?" I hissed at him. His smile stayed. "Working on your tactics, just seeing what you've got, Charlie, so we know what we're working with."
I looked past him from the wall and saw a computer table with a laptop and lamp on it and a wooden king sized bed opposite the desk with books everywhere. Bookshelves and shelves were just everywhere. The room what based on brown and white with the carpet a nice clean white. I continued to frown as my attention came back to him and then I pointed my finger and shoved it into his chest as hard as I could. "'We' as in your mates? Oh and what was with the interrogation? And what the fuck is a Nova?" I kept my tone hard and accusing.
He shrugged and his smile dropped. And all he said was "stupid girl."
I huffed and crossed my arms, "I don't even know who you are."
"Conner. It's Conner." He replied.
I had a quick glance around the room again to notice a large window in the roof that shone down the afternoon sky through the blinds. I looked back to him and he pulled his hair from his face.
"See you at two." He said as he glared at me and then looked at the door behind him. I got the hint and went to walk out and I stood in the doorway. I looked back to say something and all I heard was a flat, 'bye'.
I closed the door behind me and stood there. I felt stupid and hurt by his bluntness.
I thought about it on my way back to my room that I'll ignore the gutless bastard.
I had a free period, so I went through my drawers and found a good pair of black long legged skins with the white stripes on the side. I then had a dig further into the drawer and found a good white singlet that has one strap on the back. I grabbed my sports bra, my long white socks and my grey and white joggers. I was set to kick some ass.
I had chucked everything into my small gym bag and decided to throw out my phone. It was doing me no good anyways by just being dead.
As I was about to leave my room, I accidently bumped my laptop mouse to find the computer had still been on since yesterday to find my Facebook page still up and an inbox waiting. I bent over the keyboard of my laptop to view the screen better and I clicked.
I clicked on the waiting inbox. It was from Ashleigh.
I have news! Get back to me ASAP!
Charlie, AARON FEDDING asked ME to the Spring Fall! Need girl talk! xoxo
OMG. Turn on your phone!
Okay. So you turned your phone off AND haven't replied to any of my emails or messages.
I will come down there and beat the crap out of you!
Just in case you missed my call, Aaron kissed me. Not that it's big news or anything.
Uh-oh. She's going to be pissed. So I sent back the pay phone number outside and the address here. Hopefully she understands. I looked at the 10+ notifcations. Ignoring them, I went into my settings and deactivated my account. It's gone and it's going to stay gone.
I threw on my thick hoodie. I grabbed my gym bag and headed out of my room and in no time I was already down the stairs and outside. It was raining again and I pulled the hoodie over my head. The gym bag over my shoulder and my hair slightly out. My jeans quickly becoming drenched. I headed towards the building I was at earlier today. Running across the lush green grass to get to the building faster and out of the rain.
Finally, arriving at the building I stepped into the large doors and into a dark hallway. Thunder cracked outside and I jumped and turned. The sky dark outside and rain beating down in sheets. I walked backwards abit and then turned down the hall. I followed the hallway to what seemed to be the room that Duke and Trent went into earlier. I looked up at the number above the room... wait, it wasn't a number... it was a letter. Y. Okay. School is definitely different to my last. I pushed my knuckles together and they make a crackling sound one by one. I stood anxiously as I waited. The bell rang and I was already tired of waiting. I pulled the door open and stepped in as the heavy door took no time to slam closed.
The room was lowly lit. I looked around and then jumped at the sound of whipping thunder. I saw someone sitting on a table beside the wall of the large room. I stepped closer but held my gym bag close. One leg tucked under them and the other hanging over the edge. I stepped a few feet closer and he turned to me. The dark blond and the muscular arms and dark grey sweat t-shirt sculpting him. He tilted his chin more up and directed his thumb to one of the white doors down along the wall. "Go get changed in there." And then he started fiddling with a piece of paper in his hand. I went to head to the white door and I realised something as I turned back towards him. "Wasn't Conner supposed to be here?" I asked and all he said was, "Hurry up." Wow, grumpy much? I turned to the bathroom again and walked in. I changed but left my shoes in my bag and chucked gym shorts over the top of my bike shorts.
I headed out of the bathroom to an empty room. I slowly walked forward and then all of a sudden I was bent back as Duke was in a fist hit with his palm facing where my ribs would have been and then his leg came out under my backwards bent body. My legs flipped over above me and I was standing up straight as I flicked back up. How the hell did I do that? And why was he trying to hit me?! I felt an arm snake quickly around my waist.
I felt the electricity run through my stomach and spread through my whole body. I shivered under his breath on my neck. "You're going to have to try harder if you plan on surviving the Demener. They don't have pity on the new or the weak." His tongue lingered on the word 'weak'. I felt an erruption from the very pit of my stomach as I turned and hit him in the chest high with my foot and he flew back into the concrete wall. He crumpled to the ground. It was weird. I didn't feel any shame in me after I did that. Not even regret. I would usually have apologised and felt terrible but I felt proud. I stood
