on fire the horrible images seemed to drive the fact very few survived. There weren't firetrucks putting out the blazing buildings. There was a choice to make, drive on up the interstate to seek help, or to try to make it back to their homes. They drove north to find someone that could help them.
Paris, France
There wasn't anyone alive in Europe after the meteor hit France. Anyone who didn't die from the impact was exposed to deadly levels of radiation. The sunlight no longer visible if there were people still there. The meteor hit with such force that pushed the Earth closer to the sun, that changed the rotation, tilt, and position. Europe was opposite the sun, in total darkness. The polar caps were thawing out causing the waters to flood, land masses across the world were flooding. The most populated parts of Asia were under water. The melting of the polar caps was going to make the flooding quickly worsen. The radio active waves were expanding the worlds surface. Volcanoes began erupting from the impact of the large piece of space rock. Seven hundred mile per hour winds pushed for thousands of miles. Well constructed buildings were blown away like dust.
Washington D.C.
The winds the pushed into the nations capital with massive waves washing the east coast away. Tops of buildings stood from depths of the water but, as the waves hit them they slowly sank into the water. The buildings held out as long as they could. They weren't designed to be under that much water, or take the impact from the tsunami like waves smashing into them. The winds aided the destruction with hurricane force winds. The impact winds hit the powerful front pushing toward the east coast. Conflicting air masses created tornadoes from the Ohio valley to the deep south. Hundreds of thousands were killed in storms stronger than man had ever seen. The men who saw this time wouldn't live to tell about it. The northwest saw some of the most vicious volcanic eruptions ever produced by earth. The widespread destruction was beyond martial law. The foundation of the country was washed away becoming part of the Atlantic. The continental United States was completely destroyed. Those who had been lucky enough to survive, didn't feel so lucky.
United States
The new year 2013 people scavenged to find items for survival. Camps were set up all over the land, with people living off the city as much as they could before moving on. Water became an important thing to find. The water on the land was badly contaminated. It wasn't even safe to eat the fish anymore. They didn't know what might be safe to eat but, after getting hungry they began to try different things. Living in different buildings as they moved to find untarnished land. Moving around was made easier by the constant daylight. There was no place to find safety as violence escalated between traveling groups.
"This guy is a doctor."
"Then he comes with us or dies."
People found to hold value were taken hostage by the stronger groups. It guaranteed their safety giving them an affiliation but, in most cases they were still taken against their will. People began taking the less traveled paths to hide from the stronger groups. The larger groups who ran into each other battled and, in some cases merged as one. There was no constitution or honor among the fellow groups. Not sure what would come of their own survival they pushed it to the limits.
The Coming of the End
Each day was more hot than that last one had been. It had come to be known that North America was under constant sunlight. It was a theory by some, but it was true too. The days were getting hotter, as they'd been in the coldest climate America would see. The coming months were going to gradually get so hot death was certain.
Those who realized they needed to get out within months before it became deadly, knew there was noway to travel the distances to survive. There was no real place known to be right for human life. They didn't really know where they were anymore. So much of the land was flooded by the rising waters due to portions of the caps thawing out. Large bodies of water often fooled them into thinking they were at the ocean. Small rivers and waterways became large bodies of flowing waters. The massive changes the earth was going through created powerful storms. Parts of the earth were freezing, while other parts were thawing out. The coldest parts of the new earth were nowhere close to the old earths cold spots. By the beginning of March 2013 the average temperature in America was over one hundred degrees. Over the next two months human life had become extinct on earth.
Mother Earth would be trying to return to normal over the next ten thousand years. The dinosaurs had owned the land, then people became the dominate species on the planet. Who will be next to claim earth?
