us. Now that Kai is born, you can see us.”

“Hello?” Kai asks. “You know what I am, right?” Jouru nods. “I’ll help you become whatever you want!”

Jouru nods again. “Why does she have four?” he asks.

I glare at him. “You could ask me directly, you know,” I snarl. “Kim, you ready if he makes me mad?” I ask her. She nods, happily. “I have four because I didn’t know who I wanted to be when they were born. So I got four. Kim is strong, a soccer player, Mike is artsy, Koki writes stories all the time, and Lili is an edgy outgoing singer.”

“Do you know which one you want to be?” Jouru asks.

“I don’t want to think about it. The ones I didn’t want to be would disappear.”

“So?” he says.

“Kim!”

“On it!” Light flashes and when it clears, I’m wearing my soccer outfit with my hair in a star clip. “This is fun!”

I grab a soccer ball and kick it at Jouru.

“Please wake up, Freya,” Jouru’s voice says, but his mouth doesn’t move. “Please.”

I wake up with a start. “What?” I give a quick glance around the room. Another note sits on the ground.

“You’re remembering who you are? That’s great! I’ll wait for you to wake up.” and signed with a kitty cat.

“Jouru.”

Chapter Five--Jouru

“Should we have left that note? It’s kind of risky. If she realizes we had to go into her room while she was sleeping to put it there, we’re toast.”

“It’ll be fine.”

“That little creepy kid! Jouru!” I hear someone scream. “Jouru! You better get back here so I can kill you, idiot!”

“She noticed.”

“I realized, stupid,” I tell Kai. “Lets go.”

“Where?”

“To apologize!”

Kai and I leap over rooftops and I feel my ears and tail sprouting. I tap on the glass of Freya’s window and wave.

“You little creep!” she screams. “What gave you the right to enter my room. When I was sleeping?”

“I’m really sorry. Truly.”

“How did you even know what I was dreaming?” Freya asks, a little more calmly.

“Well, uh, a lilla syskon helped me. I let it transform me long enough to look in on your dreams.”

Anger crosses her face again. “What? Do you realize how creepy you are being?”

“I-I do.”

“What lilla syskon helped you anyways? Kai definitely doesn't hold that power.”

“How’d you know that?” I ask her. Freya just looks at her feet and shakes her head. “I have two lilla syskon. Kai and Lak.” I tell her. “Lak, come on out,”

“Hello,” Lak says quietly.  “I’m Lak. I was born from Jouru’s silent wish of being sensitive and knowing what people are feeling.”

“You can shut up now, Lak!”

“You don’t mean that, Jouru, you’re happy Freya knows that about you.”

“Lak!” I yell. I glance over at Freya. She’s giggling. “Freya?”

She laughs harder. “I’m sorry, but it’s really funny, Jouru.”

“What?”

“Well, you’re entirely denying who you are and arguing with yourself,” she says.

I catch a glimpse of movement behind her. “Hey, I think one of your lilla syskon is awake. Come on out.” I lean close to her.

It floats out from behind her. “Hi, Freya.”

“Hi?”

“I’m Koki,” he says. “I represent the part of you that wants to become a writer. Lets try out some writing!”

“Not now, I don’t have a plot for it,” she says, laying back. “Plus, I don’t wanna.”

“No matter! What if we write about a singer who is really fiery, but she sings really well. She has a competitive edge and is very hard working but inside still insecure?”

“Okay, whatever.” She begins to write. “Ugh, it’s not turning out how it should!”

“Can I help? I know a thing or two about singing.” Lili floats out.

“Me too. I can help with fiery.” Kim appears.

“Kim!” Kai yells. “You’re back!”

“Don’t forget me!” Mike materializes.

Chapter Six--Freya

“Guys!” I yell. “I remember you all!”

“We just need you to wake up, Freya,” they all say in unison.

“Wake up? You mean this was a-”

I sit up awake in a hospital bed with Jouru slumped asleep in a hospital bed next to me. “Jouru, wake up. Where are your lilla syskon?”

“You’re awake!?”

“Yeah, I guess.”

“Lak, Kai! She woke up!”

Two small children run in. “Freya! Jouru!” they yell. “We missed you! Never get sick again!”

“O-okay,” I say. “Where are Mike, Kim, Lili, and Koki?” I ask.

“We’ll go get them!” Kai yells.

“You took a pretty nasty fall, trying to get Kim’s shoe in the river. I tried to grab you back but I fell too. I woke up an hour ago. We were really worried about you. One of the doctors thought you may never wake up. Next time, look where you’re going!” Jouru says with a smile.

“What were you dreaming about? I dreamed that you woke up in a hospital with amnesia and I was watching over you from afar. You left the hospital when I called to you and instead of our little siblings being what they are, they-”

I stop him. “We dreamt the same thing. You kept saying that you needed me to ‘wake up’ I guess I know what that was about now.”

Jouru hugs me. “Next time Kim drops her shoe in the river, let me get it.”

“Thank you, Jouru.”

“For what?”

“For helping me get back.”

Chapter Seven--Jouru

Thank you, Freya, I think and lay my head back down on the pillow.
