Part 2
I slip the ribbon into my hair. I hate my night job. I feel like I'm every pedofiles wet dream. Or would Lolita be better. It's so creepy to even think of. It's not my fault I look so young. This job is corrupting my mind! I hit my head against the wall lightly. Once I get enough money I can quit and leave. Why must they dress me up? I slip the skirt on and turn making sure my valuables are covered properly. I sigh and open the door. At least I found a job as a waitress. It could be worse. Much worse actually.
I look around and see our usual customer hugging this guy. There are two others around him trying to avert their eyes. The woman usually comes in after a guy dumps her. She comes off a little rough around the edges. I hope that guy is not after a easy target. In any case I'll just walk away. This whole place makes me sick. People trying to forget themselves, it's just horrible. Not to mention I have to fend off some weird people.
'Hey... you can I have a beer?'
I turn to see one of the tables is occupid already. Three guys sit there probably business men. They have that middle aged pervert look. I know that look well. They love my look... or at least the ones who come in here. It is so creepy. I nod my head at the slicked blonde hair guy. He looks greasy not my taste. I scribble his order on the notepad in from my pocket. If I don't write it down I'll forget. The last thing I want is to have to ask him what he wanted... again. I shift my gaze to the guy next to him. His hair is flopped over his face. He is either asleep or already drunk. He mumbles to his companion. I'll go with already drunk. He has nice features as far as I can tell. Nice physique... If he has a good personality I wouldn't mind.
'He'll have a scotch on the rocks.'
The blonde greasy guy smiles as he points to his dark black haired companion. The last guy fidgets as I look at him. His hair looks frizzy... and orange? He is a little less well built than the other two but not so bad. I probably wouldn't go there, yet Ish might. Then again Ish goes everywhere.
'I'll have a draft...'
I arch my eyebrow at his outburst. I finish by asking them if they want anythign else. When none of them answer I smile sweetly and walk away. I hang around people who are whores and serve drunks. It's a nice life I snort and hand the bartender the list. He knows I never go near alcohol. There is just one to many stories for that. My family was a bunch of drunken idiots. So casually I stay away from the stuff... going down that path is not for me. I stand up against the bar ledge and smooth out the skin on my forehead.
'You got more MAP's today?'
I sigh and nod my head. MAP stands for middle-aged perv's. I know its a stereotype but you wouldn't believe how many I run into. Especially at this job. We say that because the majority of our customers are perverts. You have to distinguish them in some form.
'More will come later I suppose.'
I smile at him and take the tray. I am glad that my shift is now instead of later. My shift always seems to go by so much faster when there is somethign to distract me. I glance up and see Ish stroll up. She nods her head and blows a kiss at Ev. She loves joking and well many other things.
'How's it goin' baby?'
I swing aroudn and close one eye. I bring my finer thoughfully to my lips. Then I grin and motion behind me. She laughs and slaps my shoulder. My arm jostles forward but I keep my balance.
I stroll back to the weird guys table. I swing my hips thoughtfully while smiling. On approaching I see that greasy is flicking orang. The floppy haired one is leaning back in his chair. Bloodshot eyes, but still a pretty blue. He seems tired... I set the drinks down in front of them and ask if they need anything else. None of them answer... the floppy haired one is watching me as I go through this routine. I lower my eyes and walk away. Why is he watching me? It makes me feel self conscious. Once I get close enough to Ish I motion again.
'Is he still watching me?'
I mouth this at her. She looks behind me and nods her head yes. Seriously? Why? I grumble a little and set the tray on the bar.
'So you interested?'
I look at Ish unbelievably. She smiles and flips her blonde hair around her shoulder. Ish should be a supermodel. I told her that once because some customer was talking about it. She just scoffed at it... then mumbled in some other language.
'No... well a little but that's not why I asked that. He's drunk and was watching me... it's creepy.'
She smiles and tilts her head. I can tell she is looking at him. I figured she would mention how I often abuse the word creepy.
'Say that for yourself. If a gorgeous guy like that were watching me...'
She let's her sentence drop and bites her lip. I know how it would have ended. She'd jump him. At least we agree on one point, he is handsome. I roll my eyes and swat her with my notepad. Out of everyone I know she's got to be the horniest. She looks at me innocently.
'Well isn't it true?'
I roll my eyes again and walk around her. As I said before she goes everywhere and anywhere. The only thing I'll miss about this place is the people I've met. You have to admit they are pretty intresting. They are lively and keep me from falling asleep.
'Well actually you can have the drunk. I'll take the redhead.'
I look at Ish who is eyeing the orange one hungrily. I grin at her letting her know I knew that's the one she'd target. She gives me a dirty look and walks into the back. Her shift starts in half an hour. She comes early to find her targets for the night. The girl y the bar stumbles but is caught by the guy next to her. The guys two friends leave before them. Even though the girl can be whiny I feel I should check the situation.
I block their path and raise my eyebrow. She's clearly drunk, or drugged. He could be taking advantage of her.
'What's going on here?'
The girl loks at me and smiles. Out of the corner of my eye I see more people coming over to the bar. I frown and glare at the guy. He doesn't even blink... I don't like him.
'I'm taking her home.'
I quirk my lip. Yeah sure he's taking her home, but to who's home? To do what? I won't move unless I see sufficient proof. I must be troublesome interfering in other people's affairs. Yet I am nosey and worry needlessly about people. As much as the girl aggravates me I can't let anything happen to her. She's still a child... I say this even though I'm only a year or two older than her. I think it's because of her attitude. She thinks she is tough and clearly can not handle things as well as she thinks or wishes.
'Is fine... he's a old friend.'
I narrow my gaze. Old friend... let me guess from middle school or younger. Says he has a long lost love and is still waiting for her. Probably just happened to meet here of all places. Like I'm going to believe that. Especially since he and his story fit the ring of mysterious murders around here. I'll play along for now, only until I can get Evan's attention. I slip my hand into my pocket to find my phone. I rock back on my heels. Got to look casual.
'Old Friend... Maria you never mentioned you had any friends who came here.'
I smile at the guy and look behind him. So far no one's become suspicious. I think y smile lets him know that I'm onto him.
'Yeah he's an old friend from elementary school. I can't believe we met here.'
I smile... gotcha. The guy seems to be angry now. He shifts his weight as if to run. He grabs her arm quickly... is he going to grab her and run? He thinks he'll get away how cute. I may seem young and weak trust me I'm not. My hand reaches out to his arm. I clasp tightly and grind my teeth. Another reason why I don't like working late.
'Where are you going? Don't you realize you've lost.'
I flash him a smile showing off my teeth. He shudders and lets go of Maria. I yell over at Evan for some help. He shakes his head as he walks over. He seems sad and disappointed. He must have saw the whole situation from where he was at. So he can fill in the details I missed.
'He's that murderer right?'
I nod my head in confirmation. I see Ish walk out from the back. She is obviously not surprised. It's amazing how a few things said can communicate between us. Ish is already on the phone dialing the police. Marai seems confused, well of course she is. He must have put somthign in her drink. She's never this bad.
'The coppers are on the way.'
Ish walks closer twirling her finger around in a whoop-de-doo motion. She stops and stares at teh guy. She giggles and leans in closer as if to examine him.
'How can you even trick girls. Your positively hideous.'
She practically shouts this out. As I said she should have been a model. She has that attitude.
'Isn't your shift over?'
I glance at the clock and realize I should have clocked out. I start to protest but Ish nudges me. She winks and says she'll watch him. I have no doubt she'll torture him. It does not feel like I've been here that long. I shrug my shoulders and head to the back. So is a day in my life.I take the ribbon from my hair
