And Jonas’s ability with technology, we don’t really know if it’s an ability or if he’s just really smart; other than the fact that a twelve year old boy is smarter than me sometimes is really irritating, it’s nothing but valuable and handy. Jasmine could foresee the weather. She think it’s stupid, but Red and I thought that it might be the start of something else; controlling the weather or maybe even predicting the future, which we didn’t tell her any of these things because we didn’t want her to be disappointed if nothing ended up happening. We’d had some difficulty figuring out what they had wanted with Micah, but when something was inside of a drawer that was locked and she reached through and retrieved it without unlocking anything, we figured that it had something that involves becoming partially intangible. Red is obvious if you’re not vulnerable to it. You could call it hypotension or something or the sort, he can kind of persuade people to do things or let us do things. If you’re not immune to it, you have no idea that it’s happening to you, or anyone else for that matter. All of us were going to be working with them, with or against our will. But by some stroke of our luck, we’ve all been able to escape and find each other.
Shane’s, of all of us, is the scariest. He can kill without a second thought and without a real motive, that’s what I found out when I broke into his father’s headquarters and looked up some useful info, including that. No one else knew about it, probably another reason to why they let him into our group. Not only that, but, along with scary killing skills, he has enhanced fighting skills and reflexes not to mention supernatural speed. He’s a killing machine that would kill us without a second thought and with no guilt afterwards. My question was; why hadn’t he killed us already? It’s not like we were making any plans to overthrow his father or anything or the sort. If they were going to kidnap us, they would have done it already. So just what was his motive?
That’s not the reason that I hate him, just because he’s probably planning something horrible to do to us, it’s much, much more than that. It’s a secret that I’ve never even told Red, all of that stuff. And I tell Red everything that I know. Shane did something unforgivable and I intend to keep the ‘un’ part of unforgivable alive. No matter what he does, or says, it will never make it up or change my mind about him.
Six months ago, when I was just starting to get used to the idea of him being with us, an anonymous message was sent to my laptop. No email or phone, it was just a video file that had inexplicably ended up on my laptop. In the video was the ghastly details of my parent’s deaths. If I hadn't seen someone important on the monitor, I would have stopped watching it immediately. But it was impossible to ignore. A vivid image of Shane holding a gun up to my mother’s head came into view.
Shane’s father was responsible for my parents’ death.
But Shane’s the one who actually killed my mother.
