“Damn it,” Wyatt growls against my mouth before releasing me from the kiss. It’s then I hear the doorbell ringing. I was so lost in him the world could have exploded around me and I would have no clue. “Don’t lose that look, beautiful,” he says before leaving the bedroom.
I reach up, touching my lips. He kisses me as if I’m his lover. There is so much passion packed into it. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that we were actually a young couple who’s crazy in love with one another. I push those thoughts to the back of my head, reminding myself not to make this more than it is.
I suppose he does love me, but not in the way I want. I follow him out of the bedroom and down the stairs. I watch as he answers the door, taking in a bunch of packages. I glance down at the delivery, seeing a lot of new things—most of which are pink.
“You’re really trying to sell this marriage thing. I’m pretty sure your uncle isn’t going to come over here and investigate.” I force a laugh.
“I’m not trying to sell anything.” He sets the box down before making his way back toward me. I hold my hands out to stop him from getting any closer, knowing that every time he gets his hands on me, I forget everything else.
“No kissing.” I watch him have an inner battle with himself. He knows if he keeps coming I will let him kiss me. That dominant side of Wyatt keeps coming out. The one I had no idea even existed before this. A side of him that more than turns me on.
“You like kissing me.”
“I do,” I agree, making him smirk. I roll my eyes. “You can’t just kiss me then give me an orgasm to get your way. It’s not fair.”
“Fine. I’ll give you this one.”
“This one?”
“Sometimes I think you just need to be kissed so you can get out of that head of yours. You worry too much.”
“It’s my life. I should worry about it.”
He shakes his head, not agreeing with me. “Not when you’re putting it into my hands. Don’t you trust me?”
I lick my lips, nodding. It’s the truth; I do trust him. “You know I do. You’re the closest person to me. My best friend.” My everything. I keep that last part to myself. That’s why I worry. I don’t want our relationship to get ruined and my heart shattered. I’m not sure I could stand it. I’ve only just put the pieces back together from losing my mom. He played a big part in that. One that I will be forever grateful for.
“You’re my best friend too. You know there isn't anything I wouldn't do for you. Trust me. This is all going to work out.” He closes the distance between us. “Hasn't this been nice?”
I rest my hands on his chest. “The orgasms?” I laugh, ducking my head at the same time. I know my face is flushing.
“Being close. Holding you in bed last night. It felt right.”
I swallow, lifting my head. “It was nice. I should have known you’d be a cuddler.”
“I knew you’d be a cover stealer.”
“I am not,” I huff. He pulls me down onto the sofa with me in his lap. I shift, wanting to face him and end up straddling him. He grips my hips, his nostrils flaring. I can feel his cock press into me.
“I’ll give you five minutes to ask me whatever you want. Then I’m going to kiss you and take you to bed and make you come. After that, I’ll feed you dinner.” Out of everything he said, it hits me that he is home for dinner. He came home early from work because he thought I might be upset. Strangely, getting fired today was freeing in a way. I know it’s because I have Wyatt to lean on. “Tick tock.”
“Wait. You didn't say go.”
“Do you really want to argue while your time is ticking away?”
“You’re a jerk.” I glare at him. My mind blanks. What do I want to ask him? “We’re getting married on Thursday?”
“Yes.” He nods. That's only days away. I hadn’t planned for it to be so quick but it’s probably for the best. We might as well get on with this so that Wyatt can take his place at the head of the company sooner rather than later.
“We need rules or something.”
“This again?”
“Wyatt. You’re a lawyer. Don’t you want some kind of contract?”
“If you really want I can draft one.” A wicked smile spreads across his face that sends a thrill of desire though me. “Sex every night before bed will be on the top of the contract.” My mouth falls open. I should have seen this coming. “You can’t be alone with other men.” I roll my eyes. “Also…”
I cover his mouth with my hand. “You’re sucking up my minutes.” He kisses my palm. I drop my hand.
“Sorry.” He doesn't look sorry. Not one bit.
“What about a prenup?” Out of everything that really should have come up.
“We don’t need one.”
I shake my head. “You’re a lawyer. Won’t the firm think you’re nuts if you don’t have one?”
“We’re not getting divorced,” he says, not missing a beat.
“Wait. You want to stay married forever? This was supposed to be temporary.” Why haven't we already set a time frame on this fake marriage?
“You have never been temporary to me and you never will.”
“Wyatt.” I sigh.
“Trust me,” he says again.
“Okay,” I give.
“Time’s up.” He smirks.
“Liar. I still have a…” He kisses me, cutting me off. Any other questions I have are forgotten as he carries me back into our bedroom.
I’m going to do this. I’m already in love with him. There is no going back now. All I can do is hope that one day he might love me
