My Beta Niko, Gamma Alec and Delta Spiro all rotated watching her. Alec had followed her to the museum and through the Plaka from the rooftops. Eros had a man following her too and Alec ripped his throat out before he could get his hands on her.
My father’s old Beta and Niko’s uncle, Kosta, took her home. I grew up with Kosta, he was a good man, but left the pack when my father went mad. Kosta was a fighting legend in his prime and now worked as security. Anyone who hired him was either really important or royal.
The following day Kosta took her out to Delphi. Niko tried to coax an introduction but Kosta wasn’t falling for it. Over the next few weeks, we watched as Kosta made frequent visits to the dorm advisors apartment. Either she was working for him or he was sleeping with her. We also watched as Eros’ men circled around, if Eros was so determined then he must have known something about her that we didn’t.
Spiro was watching her when she left the university library late at night. He watched her enter a taverna and the other girl, with long dark hair, walked back alone. A car stopped abruptly and yanked her friend in. Spiro wanted to follow but needed to stay on his assignment.
Eros was getting bold and the shifter’s had become worried about his carelessness. In the beginning, packs traded or sold low ranking omegas into pack slavery. They would do the cooking and the cleaning for the packs. If they were very attractive, they might become a pack mistress. Then it expanded to humans and trafficking arms and drugs. Most shifter’s have stopped dealing with Eros and would like to see the black market fold. But the money from human trafficking has allowed Eros and his boss to build an empire.
I was snoozing in bed when Alec mind linked me, she was going out for the day with her two friends and was at the boat docks. He watched her board a ferry for Agistri and I had him get the speed boat ready.
It didn’t take us long to catch up to them. We also spotted two of Eros’ men, wolves, following closely. Alec and I split up to watch from different places, fortunately, we had taken Evvie tea to mask our scents so Eros’ wolves wouldn’t pickup our scents.
I sat at the outdoor beach bar and watched them from a distance. She looked so hot in that little turquoise bikini and it bothered me that others could see her too. This was crazy, I just needed to get close enough, to look into her eyes and then I would know for sure.
“What do you need to know for sure? That’s our mate! I know it.” Dom snapped at me. He was sure, but I still wanted to look into her eyes.
Alec sat under a shade tree on the other side reading a book and trying to look like he belonged there. “What are you reading?” I asked through the mind link.
“The only book I could find in the lost and found at the port information desk.” He said.
“Yes, but you haven’t looked up for nearly an hour, it must be good.” I linked back.
“It’s classical English literature.” He replied.
“Good grief, you aren’t reading Pride and Prejudice, are you?” I laughed.
“No.” he laughed back. “It’s Sense and Sensibility.”
A few moments later, I was ready to order another beer, but they started getting up, ready to leave.
“They’ll be heading your way to get some food,” Alec linked me, and I moved.
“Have you seen the goons?” I asked.
“They’re back in the woods, watching as well.” He said.
I walked around the village and stopped at a tavern to use the restroom. When I came out, I had lost visual of them. “Where are they?” I asked Alec through the link.
“They’re on the back patio at Raina’s but she went downstairs alone. I don’t see her, and the goons moved fast.” He said.
If she stepped away from her friends, they could try and take her. Where the hell did she go? I heard a cat meowing loudly and I suddenly stood still inhaling her scent. She crashed right into me and my first instinct was to hold her to my chest.
Dom was howling in my head. What the hell was wrong with him, she can’t be our mate.
“Then why are you so obsessed with her?” Dom snickered at me.
“Excuse me.” She said, her voice was music to my ears. She looked right up at me with those beautiful blue eyes and I knew. FUCK!
I fought the urge to kiss her and felt myself getting annoyed at my own weakness. Then I caught a glimpse of the two goons following her that stood watching us. I stepped away from her and quickly made my way to them. They ran behind the building, into a back alleyway.
A moment later, I had them both pinned to the ground with my canines and claws extended. One of them pulled a silver blade out and tried to stab me. I grabbed his arm and forced him to drive the blade in his own neck.
“Who sent you?” I asked the other one still breathing.
“Fuck you!” He growled.
“I’m afraid you’re not my type.” I snarled back.
“But she is, isn’t she? You can’t watch her all the time!” He smiled before I snapped his neck.
“Alec, I’ve neutralized the goons. You can go and get something to eat before we head back.” I linked my Gamma.
