“I bet! I’m sure grumpy Alpha will appreciate a sassy, opinionated, female Alpha with a knack for getting into trouble.” I groaned and rolled my eyes.
“He will love you.” Niko laughed and led the way.
We walked up the stairs and entered the double doors of this stunning house. The dark wooden floors were a beautiful contrast to the light colored walls and decor. There was a double grand staircase with the same dark colored wood used for the railings. The chandelier was a gorgeous crystal and tied everything together.
“The Alpha is in his office waiting for us.” Niko told me.
I nodded my head and walked with him down a long hallway to the big dark wooden door at the end of the hall. I looked down at my torn neckline and pulled up the costume to try and hide my bra. I’m not sure why, but I felt nervous meeting this Alpha. Niko pushed the door open and we entered. The office was so grand, it reminded me of my fathers at the castle.
“Have a seat.” Niko motioned to a leather armchair sitting in front of a really large, magnificently carved, wooden desk.
The occupant of the desk sat in a large leather chair and was turned around facing away from me. I could only see the back of his dark head, strong shoulders and massive arms. He was wearing a black long sleeve dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up.
I could feel a very strong and heated Alpha aura pulsing through the room. Rae was disappointed that she couldn’t pick up his scent. Any minute now he would turn around to speak to me and the anticipation was growing.
There were two other wolves in the room with us that I did not know. One had sandy blonde hair with brown eyes and smiled at me. The other had dark brown short curly hair, brown eyes, a scar on his chin and had a serious face. They both looked about the same age, mid-twenties maybe and they were cut with strong muscular builds. I tried to scent them, but only one seemed to have a scent.
“Why am I only scenting one wolf in a room with four wolves?” I asked out loud before I could stop myself.
It was quite for a moment and they all stood with their eyes glazed, they were obviously mind linking. No one answered me.
“Where am I? What’s the name of this pack?” I asked.
I looked at Niko who seemed to have a frustrated expression on his face. They were still mind linking and I wondered what was wrong. Maybe Niko was filling them in on our escape? Or maybe the Alpha was upset he had brought me here?
“I could just wait outside, give you more privacy, you know, so you don’t have to mind link around me.” I suggested and stood up to leave, I could feel Rae getting frustrated too.
“SIT DOWN!” I heard a growl coming from behind the chair.
“Not until you tell me what’s going on.” I snapped back. I felt myself getting annoyed because he hadn’t even turned his chair around to look at me. As if I was insignificant, like a child in the room. How rude and disrespectful.
“I’m the only reason you’re still alive and the only thing standing between you and a very angry Greek mafia. I’m not even sure if I want you alive.” His deep voice was harsh.
Hearing those words was like a dagger to my heart and I wasn’t sure why. Was this Alpha going to kill me? Rae was anxious and I considered if I could outrun them and leave. I wasn’t feeling welcomed or wanted and wondered why Niko would even bring me here.
“Grumpy my ass! He’s a jerk.” Rae said to me.
I looked up at Niko and he gave me an apologetic look. “Can I at least use the restroom?” I asked.
“Sure, it’s right this way.” He said and led the way. We exited the office and Niko pointed to the door on the right.
“You weren’t kidding when you said he was grumpy.” I whispered to Niko.
“Hurry he doesn’t like to be kept waiting.” Niko whispered back.
“I don’t think I caught his name.” I said.
“It’s Dimitri.” He said in a hurry pointing to the restroom door.
I stepped inside and locked the door. Oh Goddess! He said Dimitri, as in the beast of Greece. I was in the lair of the beast and he wanted me dead too. What the hell is going on here?
“Rae, we’ve got to get out of here.” My heart was racing.
I removed my pouch purse and stripped off my nymph costume. Then I stuffed the only clothing that could fit into my small purse, which was my underwear and bra. I lifted the small window open and climbed over the toilet seat, out the window.
I shifted as soon as my feet hit the ground and took off running. We had traveled north on the motorcycle which means Athens was south of here. Athens isn’t safe at the moment either. I decided to keep moving north until I reached a town and then I would call my dad. I was running at top speed with my purse hanging in my mouth. I wondered if I kept running north, if I would run into another pack’s territory.
“Let’s just focus on getting out of this territory first.” Rae said to me.
An angry howl rang out from a distance as they discovered I was gone. I really wish I had found some of those scent masking herbs. These wolves didn’t
