can suck in mortals, humans, or other creatures. A human female overcome with lust cancause just as much damage as a human male. So, Mom and I pull theenergy and filter it. We create an opportunity to generate as muchmale sexual energy as there is female at the event. When theyneutralize each other, we can go home. We seal the site so it can’tbe able to generate more power and go home.”

“So, that was your originalplan. What went wrong?”

“Orvis and Stovos. Both of themgenerate huge amounts of gender-specific power, but Orvis had halfa decade of pent-up frustration, so she went off like a brokenreactor.”

“Geez. I have to go to worktomorrow. That is going to be a rough day making eye contact withthose two.”

“Don’t worry. Harpies arepractical about these things, eventually. Stovos is just going tolook really smug for a while.”

“She’s a harpy?”

“Yup. I thought it was obvious.”She finished the fruit and nibbled at the crepe.

“Huh. It sort of explains alot.”

Stinger smiled. “What time isyour call?”

“I still have an hour.”

She looked and saw that she hadnibbled the crepe to nothing. “Well, thank you for breakfast. I amgoing to catch a nap.”

“Wait a moment. What started themoment on the stairs? I am trying to find out what I am doingright.”

She looked at the steps and backto him. “I have never been chased before.”

His eyes went wide. “That waswhat did it?”

“Yeah. I have not been preybefore. It was... fun.”

He pushed the empty dishesaside, and he showed her some homes with extra land attached. “Doany of these interest you?”

She looked at some of the homes, the locations, and the properties. “Well, all but one have enoughland, and that one is just nice because of the fancyfireplace.”

He nodded. “Which would be bestfor kids?”

She pointed without hesitating. She yawned and said, “If that’s it, I am going to crawl intobed.”

“I will join you.”

“I am going to crawl onto thecouch.”

He chuckled. “You can use me asa pillow.”

She groaned. “Fine. The bed. ButI actually want to sleep.”

“Understood. I have to seek outan ideal situation for us, so using the information you haveprovided, I will get to work.”

She got to her feet and stompedup the steps. He brought his computer and followed her. She curledup on the bed and pulled a pillow against her body while shovinganother one under her head. He chuckled and sat in bed next to her,the light clicking of his computer keyboard the only sound.

She rolled and curled up againsthim at one point, but when she was breathing in his scent, shedropped into sleep.

“No, she’s out. Stovos, what doyou know about Abrax?”

Stinger was fading in and out ofsleep as Stovos Twilight, king of the dark court, murmured what heknew about her father. She caught the words, “Wealthy...well-traveled... popular...”

She sighed and fought to openher eyes.

Arthur brushed her forehead.“Keep napping, honey.”

She nodded and relaxed againsthim, knowing when magic was holding her down.

Kelnen’s voice rumbled, and theconversation was about what to do with the breeding contract when amating contract was going to be put in place. Stovos wasunderstanding. “Take the time you need, but if you can manage someoffice time, it will take the heat off having Hector and Tynan outof the office for the week.”

“Not a problem. I am sure thatStinger is tired of me crawling all over her.”

She clutched at his shirt. Shewas just getting used to him.

Kelnen chuckled. “She heardthat.”

Arthur chuckled. “Of course, shedid. Well, I should get going. She is pushing hella hard at myspell.”

Stovos sighed. “Don’t keep herunder. They get really mad when you do that. I tried it with Orvis, and she bit me. I don’t think she even remembers it.”

“Okay, we will take it as itcomes, and if she needs me, I will go to her.”

Stovos nodded. “Agreed.”

Arthur said his goodbyes, andStinger broke his spell and sat up. “That was uncalled for.”

“I wanted to get information onyour father, and they wouldn’t talk about him with you awake.”

“What did you find out asidefrom he has money and sleeps around?”

“What?”

She was unsure. “That isn’t whatI heard?”

“Your father is popular with hispeople. He does have money, but that happens when you are threehundred in a gold-rich area.”

“He’s that old, huh?”

“At least. No one really knowsmuch about them. I just know my family thinks they are a pain inthe ass.”

She chuckled. “Charming. Nice toknow. I don’t want to meet your family.”

“My parents will love you.Especially if we wait until you are pregnant, but we will have gonethrough the binding contract first.”

“What?”

He took her hand. “You and I,bound together. That way, we will have a connection that stretchesacross space.”

“I always thought that wassomething that was done like a proposal.”

“I don’t think you would respondpositively to that suggestion, so I asked Kelnen, and he agreed.Because we are both mages and monsters, we fall under hispurview.”

She blinked. “I thought he hadto get family agreement.”

“No. Either Kelnen or Olmin hasthe power to arrange your union, considering who and what youare.”

“So Abrax had no vote?”

“No, he was not consulted. As anabsent and unknown parent, he never acknowledged you and has no sayover your binding.”

She huffed. “Fine. When?”

“You are giving in?”

“I don’t know if it is the curseto follow you around, but having you tied to me feels like it willmake things easier.”

He grinned. “I will takeit.”

The contract appeared, and aribbon slithered off it.

“Oh, a handfasting, too.”

He nodded. “Bound in soul, body, and magic.”

She nodded and stood up. “Wheredo we want to do this?”

“Kneel on the bed.”

She lifted the edge of her dressand noticed that there were three more buttons open than there hadbeen before she lay down. “Admiring the lace?”

“It is excellent quality.”

“One of Cale’s designs. HowSallen puts up with him, no one knows. He’s had his hand inside thepanties of half the female magic users in the city.”

Arthur’s eyes widened, and hestifled a laugh. “I will keep that in mind.”

She crawled on her knees to thecentre of the bed with him.

“Now, read the contract.”

She read the contract thatentailed splitting all of her magical and physical assets down thecentre. His portion was the same, but he also was charged to carefor any issue of
