“Yes. Yes, we are, Cordy. I wish I could have been there in person for both of you. But you knew I was always there. From talking in the tub to reading your letter through Heather. I got to watch our daughter become a woman from here. Now we get to watch. Together. I love you, Cordy. Heather… Mommy loves you too. More than you’ll know.”
Acknowledgments
A big thank you goes out to Heather and Cordell Hendricks for bringing this work to life with their crazy lives.
Without my family, this book would not have been what it is now. I dedicated this book to my closest family members but there are others I’d like to acknowledge here. I remember making the first draft of this book. A 52-page story that all of my immediate family read and gave me feedback on. Everyone’s feedback turned this book into something I am beyond proud of. I printed off about 5 copies of this book at home and we do NOT have a printer like offices or schools do that can handle that amount of printing. Went through about 2 cartridges of black ink. My grandma, which I call Nanny, was the first to read my book. Read it all in one sitting one night and gave me my first feedback. From there, Good Morning, Arizona! took off. I even asked her to think of a title for this book. I still don’t know if she’s come up with anything! I read my book to my girlfriend, Sierra, and she gave me feedback too. My mother and grandpa (Pappy) read it at the same time, followed by my uncle Seth and his fiancée Gianni. Without the amazing feedback and sit-down talks about my book with all of them, I don’t think I would have published this book. Each of them gave me amazing pointers and tips that truly made this book. So, thank you Gianni and Sierra. I did not “dedicate” this book to them, but they know just how much they mean to me and I know they won’t take that personally. At least, I think…
I want to give a big thank you to Heather Startup from Full Sail University who did an in-depth read and gave me feedback. I would consider her the editor of this book. And it is an awesome coincidence that her name is Heather! Her feedback made me look at the book differently and I attempted to dive into my book and become the characters. See what they see, feel what they feel, act as how they’d act. Thank you so much for that Heather and thank you Seth for connecting me and my book with her.
The beautiful cover art on this book was created by sam_designs1 on Fiverr. Although I am in University for Digital Arts, I am still learning and perfecting my craft. I outsourced and found Sam. His work was amazing, and I was very impressed. He impressed me again with this cover and I am beyond grateful for his work.
Lastly, I want to thank all my English teachers that I have had up to this point. Especially Ms. G and Mr. McKenzie, who I believe I did the most creative writing with. Although I didn’t take a creative writing class, here I am. Thank you all for the lessons that I remembered and took into consideration and used in this novella.
