eyes open, I look around, catching the smiles from a few people in here. I don’t remember most of the people in this town, but they all remember me.

It became obvious when I first arrived, and I got asked a ton of questions and a few comments praising my dad and his memory. I just wish he were still here with us to have witnessed Easton getting married. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t miss him.

Inhaling a stabilizing breath, I blink back tears and take a sip of my warm drink. This is damn good coffee. I take another drink, closing my eyes again, but they snap open right away. Flashes of my night with Camden fill my mind, and I shake them out. It’s pointless to even entertain the idea of Camden. Tomorrow, I’ll be getting on a plane back to Spain. To my life, my job, my apartment.

When my company offered to extend my contract for five years in the new branch office in Spain, I took it, knowing it’s an amazing opportunity to say I helped start an international office from the ground up. Human resources isn’t always fun, but when my boss asked me if I wanted to embark on this new journey, I eagerly agreed.

It’s been almost two years since I packed my stuff and moved to Madrid with the hopes of adventure and possibly finding Mr. Right among the stone streets, old buildings, and rich history. I’ve found adventure. Not so much luck in the love department, which is probably why I was feeling vulnerable last night and landed in bed with Camden. A girl can only deal with so many unanswered wishes upon a star.

“Rough night?” I lift my gaze to the person standing before me and groan when I see smiling, brown eyes. “Hey, now, you wound me.” Camden places his hand over his chest. “Mind if I sit?” He points to the empty chair across from me. I shrug noncommittally.

“Come on, any other time, it would’ve been perfectly normal for me to sit and have a cup of coffee with you.” He places his hands in his pockets and rocks back on his heels, a small, hopeful smile marking his face.

“Fine,” I relent, sitting up tall from my slouching position.

As soon as Camden orders his coffee, he takes a seat across from me in silence, the same easy smile on his face, as if all is right in the world, and he didn’t just have sex with his best friend’s younger sister the night before.

chapter 2

Camden

I don’t know what the fuck possessed me to sleep with Allyson. Internally, I’m freaking the fuck out, but I’m playing it as cool as I can in front of her, pretending it’s no big deal. That way, Easton won’t realize something’s up and kick my ass. Actually, I’m pretty sure he’d clip my balls, cut off my dick, and feed it to that horse of his. Or better yet, give it to his dog as a chew toy to remind me of what it feels like to be dick-less.

Fuck my life. FML, as the kids say nowadays. This is messy as hell right now, and the only thing I can think to do is act indifferently. As if Allyson Locke, my best friend’s little sister, didn’t rock my world a few hours ago.

I take a deep breath, looking around the coffee shop to ignore her curious gaze and will my dick to ignore the memories of her soft body beneath mine, her desperate pleas, and her moans.

“Anyway…” I slap the top of the table harder than I meant to, startling her. Smooth, Camden. “Lunch at your brother’s house today before they leave for their honeymoon, huh?”

“Mhmm…” Allyson presses her lips together, avoiding my eyes.

“Should be fun. A few of his friends are going, too, right?” I try to make small talk.

Allyson’s eyes snap up to mine, wide like a deer in headlights. “You won’t say anything, right? About last night…” Her voice lowers as she leans in. “You promised.”

“I’d like to keep my dick intact. I don’t need to lose my best friend and my masculinity because of a one-night-stand,” I grit out. Allyson flinches and leans back on her seat. She’s dead-set on no one knowing she slept with me as if she were ashamed. I’ll make damn sure no one ever finds out about this. It’s not like I come around for seconds anyway.

“You don’t have to be so crass. A simple yes would’ve sufficed.” She pushes back her chair, the legs scraping against the tile floor, and she stands to leave.

Crap. I take a deep breath and follow her out of the coffee shop. “Wait.” I reach for her arm, but she turns around before I can wrap my hand around her.

“I didn’t mean it like that,” I begin to apologize, running a hand down my face. I’ve never been in a situation like this before.

“It’s fine,” Allyson shrugs me off, but I know better.

“No, it’s not. Clearly, this is an uncomfortable situation for both of us, but I promise not to say anything. I won’t even tease you about the way you yelled—” I bite down hard when she shoots daggers at me.

A slow grin tilts my lips up. “Okay, I won’t tease anymore…starting now.” I lift my hands in surrender. She visibly relaxes, her shoulders sagging as she nods.

“Come on, Ally, it’s me.” I wrap my arm around her shoulder, and she tenses again.

“Maybe we should just keep our distance for a little while,” she suggests, her cheeks turning pink.

“Understood.” I remove my hands from her shoulder and nod once. “So, how’s life in Madrid?”

She side-eyes me. “Hey, I’m just trying to act normal here.” I shrug.

“As if you didn’t see me in my birthday suit a few hours ago?” she adds, and I hear underlying humor in her tone.

“I did more than that,” I waggle my eyebrows, and her cheeks flush deep red.

“Uh…
