That didn’t sound too bad.
“Do single wolves go?”
Billie shook her head. “We are welcome to the other dormitory for another show. Much different atmosphere, and then some stay behind to watch over the children whose parents want to watch the mate show.”
The tradition fit the Entertainment District to a T, and Fabiana wondered what she’d see. As far as her attire, she wasn’t as sure about it.
Well, if it could really be called an outfit.
It was literally one long strip of pure-white fabric and she had no idea what it looked like when she had to wear it.
“Billie, forgive me, but what is that?”
“The Alpha mate garb. You’ll understand. Now, stop fussing and get in a bath. I’ll make sure your skin is nice and supple tonight.”
That’s what Fabiana was afraid of. It was like getting her ready for her wedding night, but Adonis had marked her nearly a month ago. There didn’t seem to be any reason to make such a big deal now. Of course, she couldn’t argue with Billie as she was pushed toward the bathroom.
Her bath was made with a different scent tonight, one she couldn’t immediately place. Notes of citrus and flowers blended into something sweet that tantalized her nose. She sank into the fragrant water, moaning as it slipped over her skin. They must have added oils because her ass slid on the porcelain.
“Are you in?”
“Yes, Mother, I’m in.”
“Don’t you sass me,” Billie scolded playfully, wagging her finger as she came in the bathroom. “I’ve got deadly hands here that might get close to some sensitive places. Show some respect.
“What are you doing?”
Billie rolled her eyes. “Nothing I haven’t done before. Just lay back and close your eyes. I promise I’ll take care of you.”
Fabiana did what she was told, forcing herself not to speak. And then she really didn’t care anymore as Billie’s fingers worked magic. From the tips of Fabiana’s fingers and up to her shoulders, she worked the oils from the water into her skin. It was part washing and massage, blending until Fabiana thought she’d fall asleep.
“Sit up, Alpha mate.”
Fabiana slid forward so she could rest her cheek on the side of the tub. No way she was going to be able to sit straight up while Billie worked. Her back got the same treatment her arms did, and then Billie helped her reposition so she could take care of her legs and feet.
By the time Fabiana climbed out the bathtub, she was more ready to go to bed than get to a show.
“Just tell Adonis to come here. I can’t go anywhere.”
“I doubt it, Alpha mate. Just wait until the next part.”
Fabiana stood as best she could without slumping while Billie dusted gold powder over her body. She had no idea what it was, but it smelled like cream soda.
Once she was sprinkled from her neck down to the tops of her feet—even across the top of her pussy, which was odd—Billie put away the container.
“Now for your dress.”
“It’s a bunch of fabric. What can that– Oh my goddess.”
“Yup.”
Heat spread through Fabiana’s core, a dull ache just manageable but not to be ignored. Her wild eyes met Billie’s. “What did you do?”
“Passion mix.”
“That’s not an answer.”
“But one that will make sense. Now, hold your arms out so I can work.”
Billie didn’t answer anything else, but every place the fabric touched pulsed with added need. Billie covered her breasts, and then wrapped diagonally across her stomach before cinching the material at her waist. Then she continued, working the length until it produced a wraparound effect with pleated folds in the front.
“Take a step for me.”
When she did, a split opened in the pleats and exposed Fabiana’s thigh, but by time she took the next step, anything that may have shown in the middle was hidden.
“Whoa.”
“Came up with it myself. It’s tied off and won’t fall, so don’t worry about that. Just be careful getting out of the car and you’ll be fine.”
“I can’t walk around in this!”
“The other women will be in versions of it, trust me. The males all know and will keep respectful eyes up, except for your mate.”
“Billie.”
“Don’t start. It’s part of the atmosphere. I’ll get your sandals on and you’ll be ready.”
Fabiana opened her mouth to argue but Adonis entered the room.
“Goddess.”
He was bare-chested, with armbands of gold wrapped around each bicep and a thick circlet of gold around his neck. At his waist was a less intricate black wrap like hers, and his calves and gladiator sandals making an appearance with each step.
In his hands he carried a gold and canary diamond necklace. “For you, Alpha mate.”
She sucked in a breath as he came closer, the passion mix on her skin not needed to urge her to want her mate. The necklace was heavy across her shoulders.
“The symbol of our pack. You will wear it tonight. There is no woman more worthy of it than you.”
Fabiana could only nod, swallowing against the heat between her legs. She wouldn’t make it to the show. No way.
“Billie, you’ve done wonders, as always. Enjoy your night.”
“Oh, I shall.”
“Pequeña, let’s go.”
Adonis swept her into his arms, sensing her lack of ability to think much less put one foot in front of the other. He carried her down their hall amid whoops and congratulations and then down the stairs where one howl began.
Another joined and another, until the walls rocked with sound.
Her pack, her people.
Fabiana lifted her voice to join them.
They continued howling even as they left the house. Cars lined the outside, every one of them flying the Moonstone Pack flag.
