a bit stunned. “Wow. I don’t even know what to say. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“What’s the second surprise?”

His smile grew and he reached into his jacket pocket, fishing out what looked like two tickets along with a business card. “I have tickets to the MoMA gala next Friday night.”

Her eyes grew wide and she reached out, snatching the tickets out of his hand. “How did you get these? This is on par with the Met Gala, it’s so exclusive and hard to get into.”

He shrugged. “We’re in talks about designing virtual tours and exhibitions for them and they offered them to me.” He rubbed a hand over the back of his neck, his cheeks going a bit red. “Honestly, I think the woman I met with was hoping I’d go as her date, but when I explained that I had a girlfriend, she graciously offered me the pair.”

“I’m sure she was,” Willa murmured, still looking at the tickets. “I…crap, what the heck am I going to wear?”

He exchanged the tickets in her hand for the business card. Her eyes zeroed in on the distinctive Bergdorf Goodman logo along the top. “Email Brandi Goldstein, she’s one of the best stylists. She’ll help you find whatever you want.”

She sucked in a breath. “Oh, but Max, there’s no way I could afford a designer dress from Bergdorf’s. Maybe I could rent something…” She trailed off, the wind completely leaving her sails.

Standing, he reached forward and slipped his fingers under her chin, tilting her face up to look at him. “Get whatever you want and put it on my account.”

She shook her head slowly. “I can’t do that,” she said softly. “That’s too much.”

He smiled at her, and it was so full of warmth and care that it nearly knocked her over. “It’s not.” He leaned in closer. “It’s not nearly enough. I want to give you everything, angel. Whatever you want. Whatever you need. I like spoiling you.”

Every time he called her angel, her insides felt like melted butter, all hot and sweet and liquified. She nodded, licking her lips. “Okay. If it makes you happy.”

“Nothing makes me happier than taking care of you.”

She lifted her hand and traced her fingertips over his cheek. Just when she thought her life couldn’t feel like more of a fairytale, he went and swept her off her feet with invitations to exclusive events and promises of designer dresses. “Thank you. This is an amazing surprise.”

He leaned in closer and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. “I’ll see you tonight, yeah?”

“You promised me pizza and Super Mario. I’ll be there.”

The smile he flashed her was absolutely devastating in its beauty, in its ability to completely unravel her in under a second.

“Good.” He turned to go and then paused near the doorway. “When you come over tonight, why don’t you bring some extra things? You know, toothbrush, toiletries, some spare clothes. So you don’t have to cart everything back and forth.”

Her heart slammed against her ribs. “I can leave some stuff at your place?”

He nodded, flashing her that grin again. “If you want. I’d…I’d like that.”

“Okay,” she said, nodding. It was only after Max had been gone for several minutes that she realized that her cheeks were hurting because she was still smiling.

“Okay, when I suggested you wear a Superman costume, I was thinking, like, a blue shirt and leggings and some red undies and a cape, but this…” Willa circled Max, making him feel even more self-conscious. “This is incredible.”

Not being someone who did anything halfway, he hadn’t just bought the first Superman costume he’d found. He’d done his research and eventually found a high quality one for several hundred dollars, and then had paid extra to have it overnighted to make sure he had it in plenty of time to volunteer with Willa.

“You like it?” he asked, trying to relax his shoulders. It fit him like a glove and left little to the imagination, something he was going to have to be very, very careful about. He knew how important volunteering was to Willa, and he didn’t want to embarrass her.

She made a purring sound and ran a hand up his chest. “Mmm. Very much.” She stroked across his pecs and then down over his abs. “This material is really high quality and it fits you so well. And the cape is perfect. It’s so long and swoopy. The kids are going to love it. I know I do,” she said, glancing up at him as her fingers skated lower.

He caught her hand, staring down at her in her unicorn onesie, glitter on her cheeks. So, so beautiful and sweet. “Willa, angel, you cannot make me hard in this suit. I’ll get arrested.” Thankfully they hadn’t left his place yet, otherwise he’d be in some serious trouble.

She took her hands back, laughing. “Okay. Okay.” Her eyes glimmered with the best kind of mischief. “But promise me we can play with this later.”

Heat roared through his veins and he slipped his arms around her waist, pulling her against him while fighting a losing battle against the blood making his cock feel heavier and heavier. The way he was responding to her, it was as though he hadn’t had her twice just last night. “Oh yeah? I think you’d make a damn cute Lois Lane.”

Her cheeks went pink and she wriggled against him, not doing anything to help him regain control over his thickening cock. “I did consider majoring in journalism, but I liked computer science more.” She slid her arms around his waist and down to his ass, where she gave a squeeze. He made a gruff sound in the back of his throat, tipping his head back, his eyes closed.

“How do you go to the bathroom in this thing?” she asked, stroking her palms up and down his back.

“There’s a little hidden zipper,” he said, pointing. “Here.”

Holding his gaze, she sank to her knees in front of him. “Show me.”

Oh, sweet Christ. She was
