Then he stood up to pull Velvet roughly into his arms. ‘I love you, you stupid woman,’ he groaned. ‘One day, when Tony is old enough to understand a love as strong as ours, we’ll tell him the true facts about his birth. He’ll love you almost as much as I do.’

‘Oh, Jerard, I love you too!’ she sobbed against him, feeling as if her life had just been given back to her.

He kissed her briefly. ‘Now let’s take Tony and join my mother and Vicki for breakfast. And then we’re going home to continue our honeymoon—and we aren’t coming out for a week!’ He picked up his son, his arm about Velvet’s waist as they all went downstairs together.
