“Obviously. Have you worked with any studios yet?”
“No. I came here to possibly make some contacts. I’m ready to take the next step.”
“Sounds like the world could use your talents, Bentley.”
“What about yours? You left us hanging. You could come back.”
I shake my head, feeling my body tense. “Can’t. Not ready for public scrutiny. Besides, any performer who chooses to work with me will face a great deal of backlash. You don’t think I tried at first?”
Bentley frowns. “That sucks. I can’t tell you what I’d be willing to do to see you on screen again.”
“Maybe you should tell me. It might be motivation.”
“Legend...I would do any—”
“Legend?”
We both twist around at the voice calling my name. It’s Bobby, heading straight for me, a huge grin on his face.
“Fuck, man, it is you.” He throws his arms around me, and I gratefully hug him back. “I can’t believe it. How the hell are you?”
Nodding, I smile. “Getting there. Figuring things out.”
He shakes his head. “I can’t believe that was the last scene we did. I should’ve thought about what I was saying to you. I didn’t mean to fuck things up.”
“You didn’t, Bobby. It was a long time coming. Honestly, I’m happier.”
“But you’re coming back, right? We miss you.”
“No.”
“That’s what I said,” Bentley chimes in. “Porn needs him.”
“Yeah,” Bobby agrees, his eyes assessing Bentley. “You are?”
“Uh, my bad. Bobby, this is Bentley. He’s a budding filmmaker. Bentley, this is—”
“Bobby Jenson, I know.” He offers his hand and Bobby shakes it. “I follow your work. Mostly because of Legend, but yeah, you’re amazing. Pleasure to meet you.”
“Thanks, kid. Up-and-coming, huh?”
“Trying.”
“Good. The industry can always use fresh blood.” He shifts his gaze back to me. “Non-negotiable? I have some ideas you would be awesome for.”
“I can’t.”
“Like what?” Bentley asks.
“Deep-diving on the Daddy shit,” Bobby says. “It’s blowing up right now. Do you know the demographic on my website now includes forty-five percent women?”
“Women watch gay porn?” Bentley asks.
“Fuck yeah they do,” Bobby answers. “Word to the wise, kid, focus on what they want too.”
“Thank you.”
“Legend, man, you know where to find me if you change your mind.”
“Who’s gonna work with me and risk their reputation?”
“Unknowns,” Bobby answers easily. “Someone who wants their name trending. They’ll take that risk to fuck you on screen. All I have to do is send out a casting call that you’re making a comeback and step out of the way for the herd of boys willing to be debased by you.”
“Yeah, that’s the thing. I can’t do the Dom shit anymore. That was a pain point with me and Arian.”
“I didn’t think it was an act,” Bobby says.
“Not entirely. I’m definitely a dominant Daddy, but I’m not into the humiliation kink and pain. That was becoming my brand. I don’t think the fans want anything different.”
Bobby shrugs. “Fans don’t always know what they want. Think about it, Legend. Your name still holds weight. You find the right boy, you could blow this whole thing up. Everyone will forget about what’s-his-face quickly enough.”
I smile. “Thanks, Bobby. That helps.” I glance around. “You still work with him?”
“Only once since things blew up. He threw a tantrum, walked off set, locked himself in the bathroom for twenty minutes, and refused to come out. I won’t tolerate divas, as you know, so I put him on the do-not-shoot-with list.”
That news causes an unexpected well of joy in me. “I don’t wish bad things for him, but he needs to be held accountable for his behavior.”
“Agreed.” He pats my arm. “I don’t buy any of that BS he tried to push either. I know you. You’re not manipulative or a predator of young boys.”
“I appreciate that.”
“Why didn’t you fight back?”
I shrug. “He said, he said shit gets you nowhere. The fans revolted before hearing a peep from me. I took the high ground out of a desire to save my sanity. Besides, they were never my fans if they didn’t want to hear my side of it.”
“Good point, I guess. Still sucks. You’re one of the best. All my scenes with you still get crazy high daily hits. You still have your fans.”
“Really?”
“Really. You’re a true legend.” He chuckles. “Look me up if you change your mind. I’ll always say yes. I’m not afraid of a little controversy.”
“Thanks.”
Bobby’s eyes shift to Bentley before he leans in so only I can hear him. “Or maybe you have a little undiscovered treasure already in your pocket.”
“I just met him twenty minutes ago.”
“And? He’s gorgeous. Maybe he’s a talented filmmaker too.”
“Maybe.”
“Good seeing you, Legend. Keep in touch.”
“I will.”
“Bentley.” Bobby shakes his hand. “Good luck. My advice? Never lose sight of why you started this.”
“Thank you so much.”
As Bobby walks off, and I’m left with Bentley, my mind is swirling with ideas. Could I get back in front of the camera again? Or would I truly be happier behind the scenes?
Bentley is chattering about cameras and lenses and ideas he has. I hear the words, but mostly, I’m captivated by his enthusiasm, his knowledge, and his ambition. He finally glances up at me, his cheeks turning pink once again.
“I’m rambling.”
“I enjoy it.”
After a couple of hours, we sit in two chairs, sipping water. I glance at my watch. I should get going, but I find myself not wanting to leave Bentley just yet.
“You never told me what you’d be willing to do to see me on screen again.”
Bentley laughs, but as his smile fades, he meets my eyes. “Anything you wanted me to do.”
Yep. Dangerous.
“Legend?”
“Yeah?”
His brow furrows, and I can tell he’s thinking pretty hard about what he wants to say.
“This is very out of character for me, but it’s also a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. How many people get to spend the day with their idol?”
“What do you want to ask me, Bentley?”
“Can I blow you?”
Three
Legend
My eyes nearly pop out of my face. “What?”
“Oh god. I’m so dumb. Why would you want that from me? I’m sorry. Forget I said it.”
“Calm down.”
“I always screw things
