Dimitri looked at Odessa who nodded her head in agreement. “Very well, Odessa will accompany them on my behalf.”
“We will attend the funeral as well Alpha Georgios, we obviously have some things to discuss. Then we will join Alpha Dimitri and my daughter on the island.” My father said and hung up.
“I will be at the marina in fifteen minutes.” Alpha Georgios said and disconnected.
“Are you going to be okay going alone?” Clair asked Knox.
“Of course I am. We’ll join you on the island after the funeral.” Knox said before he turned to Dimitri. “Take care of my sister.” Knox added.
“I will, take care of mine too.” Dimitri said as Odessa hugged him goodbye.
“The boat is ready to take you out to the island Alpha.” Alexander said.
“Niko and Clair will be coming with us. Alexander, return with the warriors and take Alec back to follow up with Dr. Vovos.” Dimitri instructed.
“I’d like to go out and have a moment with Leo before they leave with him.” I said and Dimitri took my hand, leading me to the car to say my final goodbye to my friend.
Chapter 28 – Island
We zipped across the Aegean Sea on the high speed boat. I was seated on Dimitri's lap with my head nuzzled in his neck. My thoughts were swirling around with the stress of everything that transpired today his scent seemed to calm my wolf. Rae was perfectly content in the arms of her mate. The only thing that could possibly make her happier was to finally be claimed.
One of our warriors was driving the boat, the further we got away from Athens, the better I felt. We passed dozens of islands in all shapes and sizes. I peeked over at Clair and Niko, they were seated in the same position as us. I thought about how lucky Clair was to have parents who were so easily accepting of her finding her mate. In this moment, I was very much envious of Clair having Aunt Payton and Uncle Max for parents.
When Clair turned eighteen, nearly a year and a half ago, she was heartbroken when she didn't find her mate. Of course, Knox had also been looking for his mate for two years. He took it harder than any of us when he turned eighteen and his mate was nowhere to be found. I'm happy for the both of them and wish my parents would have been just as happy for me as they were for Knox and Clair. I was thrilled and thankful that Clair would settle down in Greece with me in the same pack. This would naturally mean more visits to Greece from our family.
It's strange, I never imagined myself as a Luna. Perhaps it's because I spent the majority of my life hoping Zach was my mate and he was a gamma. All those years, all those wishes on shooting stars, hoping and praying for Zach, and that now seemed so silly. In the three days that I have known Dimitri, I have felt so much more for him than if I had spent a lifetime with Zach. I wasn't about to let anyone take that away, not even my father.
I love my father very much, some would even say I was his favorite, but I wasn't looking forward to seeing him tomorrow. His reaction to Dimitri wasn't good, he even threatened to take me home tomorrow despite knowing that he shouldn't interfere in the work of the Moon Goddess. Dimitri had handled himself admirable and kept his cool. I continued to rest my head in his neck, and he continued to stroke my back.
A short while later, I heard our driver call out, “land ho.” I turned my head to see an island in the distance that got bigger and bigger as we got closer. The waters had floating navigation buoys that were marked private property and no trespassing. I could see the island was covered in trees and olive groves. From the sea, a few houses scattered across the island were slightly visible. A small marina came into sight with two docks. It had a few boats of different sizes already docked. We slowed down and docked in an open spot.
“Welcome back Alpha!” A man in his early forties said as he helped tie the boat down.
“Thank you Dumas. I'd like you to meet my mate and Luna, Raven LaRue. Raven, this is Dumas, my lead on the island and business manager.” Dimitri said.
“How wonderful to finally meet you.” He bowed his head. “Is this your sister?” He looked at Clair.
“This is the Luna's cousin and Beta Niko's mate, Clair.” Dimitri said.
“Excellent news!” He smiled warmly at us and a realization swept across his face. “Did you say LaRue?”
“Yes. She is Alpha LaRue’s daughter.” Dimitri grinned and continued, “Have the others settled in?”
“Yes sir. Elaina and a few other members arrived yesterday. She has lunch all set for you at the main house. The carts are ready as well, unless you want to let your wolves stretch their legs out.” He said.
“A run sounds wonderful.” Clair said.
“Let's get to lunch first and then I'll give you a tour around the island.” Niko told her, always thinking with his stomach first.
We drove in golf carts towards the pack house and Dimitri pointed out the sights. A large building came into view and Dimitri explained how it was a water treatment facility; it desalinated water for the whole island and irrigation of the groves. The south side of the island had a huge
