“Aha.” Ember’s eyes fell for several moments before she nodded. “Uhu. You carry?”
“Okay, I will try.” William stood and felt like his head had leapt a hundred feet. He fell, catching the fall on the pillar he’d been lounging against.
He was vaguely aware of saying a goodbye to Trotto and the rest of the adventurers, but couldn’t be sure. In the next moment of lucidity, William tried to tuck Rulu into the bed.
She clung to him like a sloth over lava. “Don’t leave meee…”
“Ow! How do the armor legs work?” Ember bonked her head in the dark, struggling to strip her clothes.
“Fuck. Rulu should sleep in the lake,” William realized.
“Fuck,” Ember agreed, straightening to stare at him with a serious frown. “You have to take her there. The toilet is dirty. You can’t put her in there.”
“Yeah… Wait for me.” He navigated back to the door with Rulu still stuck on the arm. Ember stumbled into the bed and pulled blankets on top of herself, mumbling something inaudible. Then, she began snoring. She would wait right there.
The minute from the Ranger’s office to the square lake felt like ten. Although William struggled to stay on his feet, he was able to appreciate the beauty of the mesmerizingly beautiful night sky of the Frontier being reflected off of the perfectly still black mirror of the lake. It broke into ripples, when he knelt by it to dip the Rulu-arm into the cool water.
“There there.” William wiggled his arm in the water. “Swim to freedom little Willy.” His chuckle drew her eyes to slowly open.
“Will-y?”
“It’s a whale who… Now that I think about it. I dunno if he was freed or not. But, you can let my arm free.”
“No.” Rulu frowned.
He settled to lie on his stomach by the water, one arm permanently submerged. The stone was cool to touch, but not unpleasantly so. Rulu’s body was a little warm and felt really really nicely smooth and silky underwater.
“You want to leave,” she said, her voice as accusatory as it was dejected.
“Ember is waiting,” William said, and regretted it instantly.
“If only I were her… I resent that lucky faun. Why can’t you take me? Am I unappealing to the eyes of a surface man or has what you’ve glimpsed of my soul been too hideously twisted?” Her sorrowful glare demanded an answer.
William kept trying to smile. “Well… It’s uhh… You are cute and hot. I don’t think you’re a bad person, just entitled and princessy. It’s ok. Smoll titty tsundere is good. Erm… Well, if Ember is okay with it, I sure as hell wouldn’t mind more girls, but I know you are fleeing a danger. You’re afraid. Maybe that’s why you want to latch onto me, but I don’t know if that’s the right way, or if you’d like me otherwise. You know it’s like, wanting to breed before dying. But, you don’t need to buy my protection with sex. That’d be lame.”
She didn’t answer.
“Why help then? Cos I get paid twelve post stamps to be the law.” He chuckled. I am the law. It sounded good in his head right now.
“I did not ask…”
“O’ well, I’m a lil tipsy.”
Before his grin could fade, Rulu leaned in for a sudden kiss. Her lips were cool and carried a taste of whiskey mixed with a fresh green aftertaste. There were jagged soft ridges on her tongue and a mattress of tiny bumps on top, which were sweeter than the rest of her mouth. She sealed their lips tight and tugged on his tongue with a needy whimper, grinding the slick stretchy fabric of her panties against his knuckles.
“Rulu… Wai…” William tried to stand up.
Rulu crawled up his arm, clinging to him like the wet transparent dress clung to her slippery curves. Relentless, she pressed deeper into him, invading his mouth with the mass of her tongue and breaching his pants with the cool silky touch of her fingers.
“No waiting. No more. I swam through many realms, their deepest ditches and distant shores,” she slurred in a wavering whisper. “More than once, I considered ending my life in that pitiful pool you found me in. It was the furthest I could swim. Furthest I could go. Then, I met you.
“Now I have walked the dry land until my feet bled, found a third eye, and glimpsed of doors to powers that I thought were beyond my reach. You see, William, We aboleth are born to battle amongst thousands of sisters. We either become the Queen, or wombs who die bearing a new leviathan into the realms. Such was to be my fate too, but now I dream.” Rulu nibbled at his lip, straddling her thighs over his. “I dream often and greedily of another chance at life in this foreign realm.”
He smiled, struggling to focus on her glowing green eyes. Don’t say anything dumb. Don’t say anything dumb. You’re drunk. Don’t be an ass.
“You’ve made more progress in a few days than I have in… Well, years.” Even under whiskey, the realization felt bitter. Here, same as in his old life, William felt like he stumbled two steps backward for every hop forward.
Why did I think a different world would change who I am?
Rulu took his hand and hugged it against her petite breasts and kissed a hand. “I shall aid you to the best of my powers. This I promised before, did I not?” She rolled out lewdly coiling inches of her tongue around his fingers. “But tonight, would you allow me to worship you, to indulge in this dream of mine?”
To punctuate the plea, she suckled on his fingers, treating them in a way
