Guiding her away from him, he made his way to the passenger’s side of Zane’s Firebird. He watched as Magnus opened the door to let his mate in and pull away before getting in Zane’s car.

“Are you sure you want to do this? I can handle it on my own,” Zane asked, his voice stoic.

Kain rolled down the window to let the fresh night air in. “No, you cannot. You know as well as I do I was not brought back without a reason. That was no ordinary vampire. I know the dark god well enough to know he will not let this go easily. Something tells me we have yet to hear the last of the monster wearing Anthony’s skin. Which reminds me.”

“We found him. It looked like he managed avoiding recapture, but he’s malnourished and hurt. Kyle has a request to tell Tala when she’s over losing you,” Zane replied.

Relieved at having found Tobias, Kain let the cool breeze of the night kiss his face. Tala’s voice in his mind made him smile. I love you too.
