Now that I answered your questions, can we get to the spanking now?
As if he’d say no!

“You haven’t been able to contact Adrian or Thanatos yet, have you?” Gage asked, watching the people in front of him. They were clumsy, useless and they had no idea what they were doing. How Axel ever let this go on, he didn’t understand.
This was Sasha’s team’s third week of training, and they were no better than they had been before. At first, Connor’s men had taken them down no problem, and now they still surrendered to the Humans. It was weak and pathetic.
The only person who could hold their own was the Vampire Marco, however Steel did his best to take the man down. They obviously blamed him for the change in their leader.
Eden trembled beside Gage, her eyes on the ground as if the fight was too much for her. The Berserker knew that it wasn’t the fight that the Succubus was afraid of, but him. “No. They, umm. They haven’t answered any of the messages that we left. That’s fairly normal for them… Sir. They don’t get reception in Hell. And…well, time is different there.” The short woman explained, as if trying to stop some verbal assault that might be coming.
“I know. We should get them into a contract. We need them in the Hunters. They do not have enough responsibilities as freelance mercenaries. Our association would be improved if we could get them working for us.” Since they started this operation, Thane and Sin had worked for them—with them—a lot. They helped where they were needed. It might have made the difference between Connor being Human or Vampire if they had agreed to be backup for Connor’s team.
It was obvious to Gage that Sasha’s team was useless.
“They won’t like that. No, not at all. I… think. I mean, they might, but I don’t think so. Thanatos is… thousands of years old. The Greek people saw him killing Demons and thought he was a God! He shouldn’t be working for someone. And.. er.. Adrian won’t like the restrictions. He…does what he wants.”
The tech girl had a point. Gage had seen them fight. He had been there to witness some of the carnage that the boys left behind. Thanatos was a legend. He was the best swordsman that Gage had ever met. Adrian, or Sin as he liked to be called, was close behind. The younger warrior didn’t care if he was killed. He lived for the fight. He also lived for himself. He would not follow command.
“Thanatos likes to help people. He will join us if he believes that it is the best option. He will do anything he believes is right.” That high moral ground was what Gage was counting on. He needed them to help with this fight. With two of their alpha teams down, they were left with few options. Axel was out in the field, Gage had to run the Hunters, Eden didn’t fight, and Jai worked alone. That left them with fewer alpha teams.
There were other teams. Tons of people working under them, but some missions were too dangerous, too important.
“Sir… may I ask you a question. Why didn’t Axel have them join when I made identities for them? It would have made more sense to get their cooperation when he had something to trade for. I… just don’t know if maybe.. if they would join now… I mean they don’t need to.”
Gage looked at the woman. He was sure that Eden was aware of him, even if she never actually looked. She might be shy, but she was not dumb. Gage, however, didn’t have an answer for her. “No one really knows what goes through Axel’s mind.” Not even him, and they were best friends.
It always seemed that Axel was one step ahead of everyone. He had everything figured out before all the pieces were revealed. He never did anything out of the goodness of his heart. He didn’t make rash decisions.
There had to be a reason that he didn’t sign the Fallen up right away. There was probably a reason why he let Sasha lead a dysfunctional team.
Gage was now in charge, though, and he would not let this go on any longer. It was a danger to the missions and to the other teams.
“What of the information on Tolk? Have you found anything about him?” He asked, knowing that sooner or later they would need to take the man down. They’d like to dismantle his operations first, so that someone couldn’t spring up and take over. They also had to know who his allies were, and take them down.
“No. There is some talk… They are searching for some women from Cold Wood, the place where Axel went. You know… when he wanted to try to get back into things. Um… I knew that what Tolk wants isn’t good… so I, umm, redirected things. I covered the girls’ trails. I hope that was alright. I mean, I didn’t want to assume… but I thought it would be the right thing to do.”
Gage nodded. He wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt because of what happened in Cold Wood. He knew that Axel would have protected who he could.
“No, that’s good. Keep on top of that. We will need to know if Tolk is going after anyone else. Was it him specifically?” Gage knew that Tolk used his underlings. He never got his hands dirty. He didn’t seem to care what went on, as long as he made money. Maybe that could be why Axel decided to do field work again. He might not have wanted to end up like the leader of the Alliance.
