I never planned to write about human trafficking, but sadly, it’s a disease that’s infected the world. With tens of millions of victims and countless perpetrators, it’s not something that we can ignore. Silence is what gives these monsters power, and how great it would be to strip it completely from them. I suppose writing about this horrible atrocity is my way of shedding light on the darkness, and showing love, compassion, and understanding for the victims.
This was a challenging book in many respects and required research into fire investigations and tapping into the mind of a killer who was especially conflicted and complex. It took a lot of effort to untangle his psyche. And fire… well, I have a heightened respect for firefighters! I quickly found out there’s often no simple, black-and-white answer, and there are so many things that factor into putting out a blaze.
If you loved Stolen Daughters, I would be incredibly grateful if you would write a brief, honest review. Also, if you’d like to continue investigating murder, you’ll be happy to know there will be more Detective Amanda Steele books. But I also offer several other international bestselling series and have over thirty published books for you to enjoy in everything from crime fiction, to cozy mysteries, to thrillers and action adventures. One of these series features Detective Madison Knight, another female kick-ass detective, who will risk her life, her badge—whatever it takes—to find justice for murder victims.
Hopefully, you also enjoyed meeting FBI Special Agent Brandon Fisher. He has a series by his own name, and those books are heart-pounding thrillers for readers fascinated with the psychology of serial killers. Each instalment is a new case with a fresh bloody trail to follow. Hunt with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit and profile some of the most devious and darkest minds on the planet.
I love hearing from my readers. You can follow me on Facebook and Twitter, or drop by my website. These are good ways to stay notified of all my new releases. You can also reach out to me via email at Carolyn@CarolynArnold.net.

“I ended up devouring the entire book in just one sitting… I was completely pulled into this one and found myself completely unable to put this down.” Little Miss Book Lover 87, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It’s been five years since Detective Amanda Steele’s life was derailed by the tragic death of her young daughter. The small community of Dumfries, Virginia, may have moved on, but Amanda cannot. When the man who killed Lindsey is found murdered, she can’t keep away from the case.
Fighting her sergeant to be allowed to work such a personal investigation, Amanda is in a race to prove that she can uncover the truth. But the more she digs into the past of the man who destroyed her future, the more shocking discoveries she makes. And when Amanda finds the link between a silver bracelet in his possession and the brutal unsolved murder of a young woman five years ago, she realizes she’s caught up in something darker than she ever imagined and suspects that more girls could be in danger.
But as Amanda edges toward the truth, she gets closer to a secret as personal as it is deadly. Amanda has stumbled upon a dangerous killer, and she must face some terrible truths in order to catch this killer – and save his next victim as she couldn’t save her own daughter…
A gripping, page-turning thriller full of mystery and suspense. Perfect for fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni.

Acknowledgments
This book wouldn’t be the same without the assistance and support of certain people. To start, I thank my husband, who has been my cheerleader for over twenty years and by my side from the start of my writing career. He’s never let me down, and I suspect never will.
Gratitude goes to my editor Emily Gowers at Bookouture for her unwavering faith in my writing and Detective Amanda Steele. I also am thankful for the team at Bookouture—the numerous editors, those in marketing and social media, audiobook production, design and formatting, and countless others who work behind the scenes to make it all come together.
I’d also like to thank Janet Fix, who had a part in polishing this book to a shine. Sorry that I gave your name to a rather quirky character, but think of it this way, she’s memorable.
In this book, I wrote about fires for the first time, and I needed insight into how this would be
