After a long conversation with his parents about both of us, his parents agreed to approve our relationship happily. His mother came near me and smiled while looking at my face and finally kissed my forehead. His father went near him and whispered something in his ears. Steve walked out of his house to drop me to my place, it was a half an hour drive. Finally, we made it through this and now are officially going to be together. This feeling made us both enjoy those little moments that we had spent together embracing each other and waiting for each other for so long.
Chapter 34Natalie’s POV
It was my marriage month finally. I was finally going to be a bride. I waited so long to get dressed in my best attire and to impress Steve to be mine forever. I just had three weeks to arrange all the dresses, accessories, decorations and everything. “Oh my god! What do I do, How do I start and most importantly, from where should I start”, I started to panic.
My mom and dad were already ready for the day to start with the decorations and invites sent. They both were so happy and busy with my big day arrangements. My mom and I went shopping. It took us a whole day to look for the best wedding dress and finally, we found one. It was a white strapless gown, with a heart-shaped cut from above and with a long veil. The silver work on the gown made it look so ravishing and sparkling in the dim light. Matching to my gown, I bought six inches heels with white and silver-colored straps.
14th February has been decided as my wedding date. The day I will wait for Steve to accept me officially as his wife. This day will mark the beginning of a new chapter and life for both me and Steve. I am going to get ready as a bride and will walk down the aisle towards the man of my life.
The day has finally come. My man Steve was waiting at the church for me and I walked down the aisle with my father towards the new life that was waiting for me. We both stood face to face in front of each other to say our vows. As the father of the church said “I now pronounce you both Husband and Wife”, with his words, we sealed our day by exchanging rings and kissing on lips.
It was a dinner party after our ceremony at the church. My dad and brother said a speech about me and Steve’s brother said a speech about him. With a toast in our hands, we all raised a toast and took a sip from our drinks. It was time for a bride and groom dance together. Steve went on his knees to ask me for a dance, to which I accepted happily. We both went on the dance floor and started with a close dance on a soft romantic musical track.
We both were looking into the eyes and with the lyrics of the song, we both said “I Love You” to each other and shared a gentle kiss on the lips. I could never imagine such an amazing phase for my imperfect love life. My life turned from “Finding my true love from the last 8 years to now, where I not only found my best friend and my true love but also got married to him today”.
Steve and I are happily married for the last five years and we both got settled in Canada. I took a break in my career when after two years of marriage our baby was born. Steve continued to work hard and till late to establish his name, which he made possible in the next 3 years. He now owns a company in Canada. Our first child, our daughter proved to bring in good luck for Steve. Since then, he never looked back in his life. She brought with her wealth and happiness for all of us.
Chapter 35Present Life of Natalie
I was weeping while going through my diary pages, it was late in the night around 2 AM, I was sitting near my side table which was close to the bed. The night lamp was on, so when Steve turned around during his sleep and didn’t find me on the bed, he woke up. He saw me sitting near side table and crying holding my diary. He immediately got up from the bed and walked towards me.
Steve came near me and asked “Hey, what happened? Why are you crying?”. Steve could never tolerate anything or anyone who would hurt me and make me cry. I explained him the situation that had happened between me and Carey. Steve could guess the same situation that must have happened. He tried to calm me and said that he will talk to Carey in the morning and will try to help her out with these situations.
Steve knew that we both had been through our tough phases of life, whether it was in friendship or love, but we never questioned each other about our past. We found each other and stayed loyal to each other, that’s all mattered to us. He never wanted us to share our past with our children. Whatever has happened, that was our past and it should never be disclosed and remembered.
In the morning, Steve called Carey downstairs to have a word with her. Carey as always was closer to Steve and so shared her problems with him. I was listening to their conversation as I was standing near the kitchen wall. Steve explained him and just gave her a single advice at the end, which was worth saying, “Sweetheart! Whatever happens, don’t turn your back on it and face it. Try your best and never give up”. He continued to say these last lines while looking into my eyes, “Sometimes, people take more time than expected to know the worth of someone and if something or someone is meant to be yours, it will make its way out to be yours forever.” I was feeling so blessed from inside at that time. He also whispered these lines into Carey’s ears “You should learn from your mother, not to give up on someone whom you truly love and want to be together with. She is a strong-willed woman” and they both smiled looking at me at the end.
I feel myself lucky that I found a husband like Steve, who always made efforts to make me feel special in his own ways and never looked back to our past since we got married and removed all my worries by being around me every time, I needed him.
I came back to my room and took out my diary from the cupboard. I tore the pages of my diary which had no mentioning of Steve in those pages. Steve and I made our memories and we are still making our memories and that’s all what is right and should be written as a memory to be always cherished.
