downtown. The Seanger theater was a cery old building. A very old, very beautiful building. It was old-fashioned and regal looking, and the inside was even better. The main lobby was huge and was also used for a ballroom when the occasion called for it.
Sheri led Lance into the lobby and left him to sit in one of the chairs while she "went to the bathroom".
He waited, his nerves getting the better of him. It was 9:oo already, they didn't have much time left.
The moment Sheri walked back into the room, all of his worries left his head.
She was wearing a beautiful gown made of red satin. It had no straps and no back. A black and white belt was around her waist. Her hair was down and still wet from the lake, but somehow, it made her look even better. He looked at her feet, she was still wearing her ratty old Converse.
She walked up to him, iPod in hand. She turned it to a song that was made to ballroom dance to. She set the iPod down and raised her hands. He hesitated at first, but grabbed one of her hands, his other hand wrapped around her. Her other hand rested on his shoulder, and they started to dance.
Lance was still in shock, "Sheri... You look beautiful."
Sheri blushed, "I've always wanted to dance with someone in this ballroom."
Lance smiled, "There's no one I'd rather dance with than you..."
Sheri smiled and rested her head on his chest. They danced like that for a while, the songs changed constantly, some of them classical, some of them rock. But neither one of them really cared. All that was in the world to them now was each other. Out of no where, Sheri burst into tears. Lance stopped dancing and looked down at her, "Sheri, what is it?"
She looked up at him, "Why? Why, Lance? We could have an entire future together. B-but, now with the meteor... I love you, Lance! I've always loved you!"
Lance's heart flipped and tears welled in his eyes, "I love you too, Sheri. I love you too."
Lance wasted no time then. He grabbed her hand and half dragged her back to the truck. He sped down the road and out of town until he made it to where he was going.
Not far out of town there was a tall hill that had the best view of the stars. They silently climbed the hill and lay together on the top.
Sheri cuddled close to Lance, "I don't want to die, Lance. I really do-"
He cut her off with his lips, urgent and feverish against hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back. They kissed like that for a while, their tears mixing.
"What time is it?" Sheri panted.
Lance's lips went to her exposed collar bone, "I don't care."
She left it at that and brought his lips back to hers. Suddenly, there was a bang and from somewhere, a siren was going off. They both glanced up. There was something that looked like the sun getting closer to the earth. They said nothing but stood from the ground and shared one last ferverish kiss. The heat from the meteor that was quickly getting closer was almost unbarable.
"I love you, Sheri." Lance whispered.
