Our New Year's study brings us to a grouping of chapters that shows the King of Judah and Jerusalem being threatened by an army of Assyrians. Political pressure is clearly understood in these passages, as well as threatening castigations against the God of Israel. The use of Propaganda is tested by the enemy and results in anxious moments for the people of God
We will steer our study over four chapters reviewing several of the enemies of Israel. Beginning with Babylon in Chapter 13, it is necessary to point out, not only the accuracy of the Prophet, but the long timeline. (Sometimes the prophet reaches into the future for over 100 years and is "on the money" historically. This prompts biblical critics to declare there are many Isaiah writers who voice their work in this book. Don't believe them.)
The Astonishing Dream of Job is a short novel, set in modern-day Israel, that’s driven by spiritual lessons and anchored in a reinterpretation of the biblical Book of Job. When a valuable piece of twelfth-century pottery resurfaces, it’s discovered that the real treasure lies hidden within its walls in the form of an ancient text.
