gaze. After what was seeming like an eternity of deadly silence, I was finally the one to break it, my words short and sweet and straight to the point. “Well, been looking for you for a long time.” “Ah. Well, I guess you’ve found me cowgirl.” She raised the 44 magnum pistol she’d been holding in her paw and pulled the trigger but to my surprise, the round never hit me. Instead, I heard Aaron distraughtly cry out Iki’s name from behind me and I turned quickly to see him on the floor, his paw beginning to turn red as he clutched the left shoulder of his jacket and Aaron standing over him in horror with his own paws pressing firmly on the spot as he quickly ordered for Shadow to get on the horn and call for help as fast as he possibly could. I focused my attention back to Judy Copeland, only to see her dipping as fast as her legs would carry her like a coward out of the bedroom window and into the shadows onto the street before disappearing behind one of the buildings on the corner. I then rapidly turned my full attention back to Iki who now was beginning to go into a constant struggle just to stay awake and alert. “Hang in there.” Aaron would tell him quite a few times every three minutes went by. “You’re doing good, brother. You’re doing good. What the fuck, Shadow? Where’s that goddamn ambulance?” “Shit!” Shadow cursed in frustration. “I haven’t even the slightest fucking idea. I told them this most definitely isn’t the time for a goddamn coffee break.” “Aaron… Kiri…” Iki managed to choke out weakly. “What is it, bro?” Aaron replied. “When… when you get back… Tell Gevo that no matter how much harm he may have done to me and the family over the years, I… I’ll always love him and will always watch over him… Just as I’ll be doing with the rest of you all. Thank you for… everything… Thank you… Thank you…” Just then, Iki’s bright jade green eyes closed for the last time and his head slowly turned to the side as his body went limp and next the only thing in the room I could hear were Aaron and Shadows long, sorrow filled howls of deep dread and despair as they mourned their now fallen brother and my eyes slowly filled up with tears as I then began to do the same. I couldn’t believe it. The brother in law and coworker who for all my years of working alongside I thought was the unkillable was now the killed in only the blink of an eye.
