CHAPTER1:
OUT TO SEA "Breathe in,Breath out." Iris greenrock told herself. She looked out at the never ending sea, sitting on the high deck, her leggs dangling from the ledge. Iris and her little sister, Ansley, were moving, to a far away island. Why? a surprise for Iris' 17th birthday. Iris wasnt ecstatic, but her younger sister, Ansley, was. The ship had been at sea for two days, and Iris couldnt stand it. "Iris? How many more days until we reach 'home?'" Iris looked down at eight year old Ansley. Iris closed her eyes, hoping Ansley ment hours. "I dont know, Ansley," Iris said as soon as she opened her eyes. "But when I know, i'll tell you." Ansley's blue diamond eyes sparkled. "okay." she finally said, then walked away. Deciding to figure out, Iris walked over to her father.
"How long until we reach our destination, father?" She asked. Her father smiled. "Oh, Iris. Um...32 days and 14 minutes?" He laughed. Iris looked at him sternly. "I'm serious," She said. Her father's smile faded. "Three days." He replied. Iris stared at him for a while, then pranced lightly away. The sound of her feet hitting the stairs to the lower deck (where she slepped,) sounded like someone banging a drum lightly. Once Iris finally settled into bed, she closed her eyes and drifted away....
A slight thunk and push of the ship woke Iris up. She rubbed her eyes and put on her skin-colored slippers, and walked up to the high deck. She couldnt see very well, considering she had just awoken. All she could see was a bright little yellow orange light, flickering out at see. Iris had to rub her eyes several times before she could see clearly, but when she did, she saw the most terrifing thing she was sure she would ever see. Her ship was on fire! "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Iris scremed the most terrible screech and ran to the lower deck. "Oh, my gosh! Ansley! ANSLEY!" Iris struggled to shake her sister awake. Ansley quickly sat up and moaned. "What?" she muffled. It came out as, whatf. "Oh my goodness, Ansley! The ship is on fire! We need to evacuate!" Ansley's eyes widened, and got her pale blue slippers on. The two girls ran up to the high deck, and by then, everyone knew what was going on. All the passengers of the ship started to run around and scream. Some were even knocked out. "Iris!" Iris heard her father yell. "Ansley is your responsibility! Take care!" Without another word, he was dragged away. Iris squeezed Ansley's hand as she started to whimper. Looking out towards the sea, Iris could see another ship. The only thing she could see clearly was a skull and cross bones flag. Pirates! She thought. About three minutes later, Iris saw a man being thrown overboard. Her father! "FATHER!" Iris screamed. "Father...," She said more weakly. He didn't come up. The next thing Iris knew, she was facing the sea, hands out. She had got pushed out into the sea! "Help!" Iris yelled. Before anyone could hear, Iris had been drowning in the water. she could see her dark brown hair in front of her. She strangled, trying to reach surface, but her night gown was pulling her farther down. Iris' eyes closed, and she lost breath and sunk faster every minute. The last thing she heard was another splash into the water.
