Prologue

There was a pain in little Emily's side as she ran and her breath came in short,gasps. She struggled to hold the tail-end of her dress up but only succeeded in ripping it more. Her normally golden hair was now a dirty blonde, tangled and slapping against her face as she raced through the secret tunnels only her father and her knew about.

"Might as well give up now, poppet! You're comin' with us whether ya like it or not!" The voice of the scoundrel pirates behind her echoed against the stone walls and she shuddered.
