Just me II, Julie Collins [old books to read TXT] 📗

The next morning I woke up to the sound of my mothers voice. She came back earlier than she was supposed to. I jumped out of my bed and ran downstairs. 
" Hey mommy, I missed you," I gave her a bear hug. She hugged me back.
"I missed you too, sweet pea. How was it here without me?" I just gave her a look she knows too well.
" What did Josh do this time?" I laughed I sound just like my mother when I asked Mac that Question.
" Josh didn't do anything but surprise me. Josh and I are like twins!" I said just happy that Josh doesn't seem annoying anymore. 
" I told you that you guys have alot in common, but what do I know I'm just a mom," She said smiling. We all laughed. I hung out with my mom all day It felt really good to have her back. She keeps telling me she has a surprise. I wonder what It could be. When she tells me she looks worried.I hope this surprise I's the good kind. It's 10:30, time for me to go to bed I have school tomorrow.
       My alarm clock goes off beep, beep! I toss and turn trying to find my off button. As i pressed the off button I fell off my bed.
"Ouch!" Well that definitely  got me up. I and met Josh and Drake at the purple stop sign at the end of our street. The stop sign was purple because I had to paint it on a dare. We rode Our bikes to school.This is a routine that I got used to after I decided to go green. After we secured our bikes to a pole we ran to our classes.

 First period always sucked. The subject was history. Don't get me wrong I love to learn about history, but we only learn american history. I'm pretty sure America is not the only place that has a past. We go over the same thing like a million times. So instead of listening I doodle all over my notebook until the bell rings. Next I have an hour to myself ,I can do anything . So I go to the library and do some of my homework. The bell rings and I'm off to lunch. I walked to the table where my brother and neighbor were seated.
"Hey guys, how was math?" They were so lucky math was the best subject here. Mr. Matt was an awesome teacher. Mr. Matt let us give him pet names. I call him Mattster, but most people call him M-man.
" The M-man played the guitar for us because Josh got a Collage answer correct."
" Wow Josh, you are smart!" I said joking around. We all just laughed. Today we were served nuggets. At least it wasn't mystery meat. We ate in silence, soon school was over. We rode our bikes home.
"Guys, wait for me. Slow down," I shouted out of breath, why did we always have to race home?
"Never,"Josh and Drake said at the same time. So I just petaled faster and faster until I could ride the bike without pedaling. I zoomed right past them. The wind felt great on my face. Now they were saying wait for me so I just laughed. I kept moving forward and I reached the driveway so I was the winner. 
I waited at my front door to call them LOSERS. They said that I just got lucked up. Boys don't like losing especially to a girl. We all went inside and ate some apples. My mom walked out of the living room with grey powder on her face.
"Hey guys, how was school?" Instead of answering her question I asked her one.
" why do you have dust on your face, mom?" She was whispering her answer.
"I can't hear you," I said sounding like I was her mother, but I usually did.
" I tried to fix the sink because the plumber bailed on me," I was even more confused.
"Ma, the sink wasn't -
"Broken, I know thats what the plumber said, but it wouldn't turn on." Josh just laughed and Drake was smirking. I guessed Drake didn't want to laugh at my mom. Or at least not in front of her.
" Skip bought a new sink when you were away," I walked to the sink and switched the right knob. My mom just laughed at herself and went upstairs. 
"That was the highlight of my day," Drake said and then he started laughing.
"Josh, Drake are you going to help me with my math?" It's not my best subject I'll admit, but I'm awesome in English. I heard a no and a sure. It was obvious that Josh was the one who said no.So Josh watched tv while Drake helped me in math. Wow Drake is a nerd! I mean he is so super smart. I was done with my math in no time thanks to Drake. Now on to science. We all did the rest of the work together. Josh and I just kept asking Drake" What did you get for number four?" and so on.
"What did you get for numb-
"You guys aren't going to learn by getting all the answers from me-
"I thought we were buds," Josh said with a confused look on his face. He was feigning hurt.
"We are buds, that is why your not getting any answers from me-
"Thats not fair," Josh said with the puppy pout. Just then our mom walked in.
"Life isn't fair, sweetie,"my mom said in an cheerful tone. At  that point we all looked confused. I turned to my mom. Her face is clean  and she put on my makeup. I guess thats no surprise.The make up she can borrow, but my clothes never. It's a good thing that she can't fit extra small. I start laughing to myself. Everyone looks at me like I'm weird.
  I look at the clock and then run upstairs. "Where are you going?" said Josh and Drake.
"MY ROOM!" I said while running up the stairs. I heard their feet swiftly moving behind me. I didn't look back I just headed toward my room. I half slid to my bed and turned on the TV.
" Is One on One coming on?" Josh asked
"No, Dirty Dancing!" I could feel the huge smile on my face. Dirty Dancing and many other movies from the eighties like... Pretty in Pink or Dream A Little Dream, Inspired me to become an actress. How do I know these 80's movies you ask? Of course I wasn't born in the eighties, My big cousin Tiffany introduced me to all kinds of classic entertainment. She basically showed me what I want to do with my life.
" Say you'll be my baby, My one and only baby-
The movie is starting.
"How many times have you seen this movie Abbs?" Josh says
"How many times have you cheated on a math test?"
" touché"
Drake laughs quietly in the background.
"The movie has started witch means no talking" Josh raises his hand.
"That includes whispering too, Josh"
        Josh was murmuring something about ' chick flicks make him sick'. I just told him in a nice manner 'SHUT UP'. Okay so I didn't say that nicely, but Dirty Dancing is like the best movie. This movie was totally not a ' chick flick' as Josh put it. It's all about Patrick Swayze , and dancing. Its like the movie grease but better! Im pretty sure Josh's mind set is going to change after this movie.
"Its not a 'chick flick' its an classic, I never steer people wrong"
By the look of his face I knew what he was thinking. One time you lead somewhere thats deserted and no one forgets. No one is ever gonna let that one go. Every time a song came on I sang along. I guess I seen this movie a lot because I knew every line,song and dance move. Yeah dancing not my best skill, but I love to do it! Every time I dance all eyes are on me. Just the way I like it.
I look back and forth between Josh and the movie. His reactions were pretty funny. When Baby was learning how to dance we all laughed. She was wearing white skip-pies. Witch reminded me I need to get a pair so I can imitate Baby. I've had the time of my life and I owe it all to you. I love this song It ties the whole story up. Most of the movies from the eighties did that. Like footloose had a song at the end that basically explained the whole movie.
" I have to go, but I'll see you tomorrow right," Drake walks out humming Now I've had the time of my life. Looks like he enjoyed the movie. I turn to josh knowing that he would give me his opinion about the movie.
"Okay, okay this was a good chick flick movie," he said smiling then he started to hum a song from the movie.
" Admit it, you loved to movie!"
"I do not love the movie I strongly like it, so hah!"
I opened my mouth to start an argument, but then I closed it. An argument with Josh can go on forever and I'm tired. So I just nod my head. I just lay down in my bed and stare at the ceiling. My ceiling has only one poster on it. That is Michael Jackson! I love that man so much. We have so much in common. I actually have a list of our similarities. Here I'll show it to you.

I know that MJ is dead. I don't think that'll change anything. As many other people say he lives on.There was a creaking sound that interrupted my thoughts. It was my mom.
" Sweetie are you up?"
"Yuppers," I've been trying to get that word popular for quite some time.
"Remember when I said I have a surprise for you," I just nod my head. I can see her gulp. Here it comes.
" I got a job offer," she said slowly.
" Wow mom thats great-
"Yea, I don't know how you're gonna take this," she paused for a long time. Whatever it is it couldn't be that bad. Could it?


I watched my mom as she paced back and forth.
" Ma, just spit it out!"
"Yea, your right I'm just gonna come out with it,loca-cal-us-mov" She said that like motor mouth.Motor mouth is a kid on our block. She talks a mile a minute.
"Ma, could you say that again," I saw her take a deep breathe. Looks like she was gonna slur her words.
" Slowly and use pronunciation this time," I said with a smile. Hoping she wouldn't feel so nervous.
"Well, I have a job offer. The location might bother you. Its out in california-
"Did you accept the offer?"
"No, I just needed your input."
"Okay mom lets start packing," she gave me the biggest bear hug ever.
