Mary Jane or her grandparents. Fortunately, there hadn’t been any trouble for the last five hours for Echo.

However, five hours in, Echo heard the shouts of Mary Jane from the farmhouse. Afraid that assassins got past him, he charged into the farmhouse with Iron Justice drawn. He pointed the Iron Justice into the room, aiming the revolver at Mary Jane and her grandparents. They were the only people in the room. No assassins or visible threats were present.

“Lower the weapons, there aren’t any intruders here.” Camille calmly told him.

“Oh,” Echo sheepishly muttered as he holstered the revolver. He then bowed his head to them. “I apologize for drawing a weapon on you.”

“No worries, if anything, we should be glad that you reacted quickly.”

“Yeah, that is comforting,” Jago remarked.

“It is,” Camile whispered.

Echo nodded his head, walking away before Mary Jane stopped him. She ordered him to sit down, which he followed. Now in the room, the conversation quickly changed to him. He became the main subject in the almost gossip-like conversation.

“Are you two dating?” Jago quickly brought up.

“Grandfather!” Mary Jane shouted.

“I’m also wondering. It isn’t surprising to see princesses or princes hooking up with bodyguards. Your grandfather was the same, having his old bodyguard as his mistress, before officially marrying me.”

“You did?” Mary Jane asked.

“Guilty as charged,” Jago joked, bringing his hands up as if he were to be arrested.

“So are you guys dating?” Camille asked, bringing the conversation back to Echo.

“No, we’re not!” Mary Jane shouted.

Jago chuckled before saying, “I don’t see Echo denying it.” Camille agreed with him, softly chuckling to herself. Mary Jane looked at Echo, her face brightly flushed.

“No, we’re n-” He started before being interrupted by the howls of a familiar monster. Jaguars, the dangerous monsters from earlier, were emerging on the horizon and were nearing the farmhouse.

“Jaguars! We got Jaguars in sight!” The guard on the front porch shouted. “Echo, get out of here! We’re going to need help to guard the house!” Echo nodded, hearing the guard. He reacted quickly and brandished Iron Justice, rushing outside to deal with their new problems.

Chapter Ten "Canine"

Five Jaguars emerged from the horizon, masking themselves in cornfields that surrounded the farmhouse and its land. The Jaguars, demons reincarnated, initially appeared in a period known as the Dark Ages. These creatures took the appearance of an earthly Jaguar, but these monsters were much more ruthless.

During the Dark Ages, these monsters emerged from underground to kill and slaughter across the land. By this time, the first batch of heroes stood up to defend the land from these violent creatures. Five heroes compromised the team known as ‘Wizards of Earth’, words that made little sense to the native population.

The Wizards of Earth team had two men and three women. The first man, remembered as ‘I’, wielded a large broadsword and his tactic was to charge headfirst into the enemy. Aside from ‘I’, were his teammates, ‘R’, ‘L’, ‘M’, and ‘J’. R, L, and M were three women blessed by the mighty gods to look over the mortals while the fifth member wasn’t blessed with powers by a god or a weapon. J was the weakest of the team, but he managed to stay up to par with his comrades.

Without powers or a holy weapon, he focused on creating his own tools with a mysterious substance known as Iron Cerritatium. His tools, five weapons created from his mind, were used to defeat the Jaguar King, the strongest Jaguar during the Dark Ages. After the Jaguar King was killed, the fates of the five heroes disappeared with him. Many were unsure what happened to the heroes who charged into the flame and extinguished it. However, one thing is known. The weapons created by J still existed, collected by multiple people. One of the five weapons J had created was the Iron Justice revolver that Echo heavily relied on, similar to how J relied on them to defeat the Jaguar King.

Even though the Jaguar King was defeated, Jaguars remained with the use of underground caves and satanic chants. The stalker that Echo met earlier used one of these satanic chants to allow a Jaguar to reincarnate using his body, but failed during the process. It became a humanoid Jaguar, a disgrace and revolting monster that Echo quickly put an end to.

The Jaguars that were nearing the farmhouse were from underground caves as opposed to being summoned by foolish humans. This spelled horribly to Echo and the other guards as natural Jaguars possessed more strength than summoned ones.

The five Jaguars took their time to surround the farmhouse and its three guards. Echo and the two guards were in charge of protecting the farmhouse and its inhabitants with no reinforcements arriving on the horizon.

“What should we do? We’re outnumbered.” The first guard remarked.

“We’re dead! They’re Jaguars! They slaughtered us during the Dark Ages!” The second guard shouted. He was a younger kid with dirty blond hair and tattered clothing. Unlike Echo or the other guard---an experienced thirty-year-old named Hale---this kid was smaller in frame and lacking the same confidence as the others.

“Shut up!” Echo shouted. “We stand our ground like men. If you don’t want to help us, then hide inside. We’ll deal with this.”

The kid nodded, taking a step towards the door. However, something prevented him from taking another step, freezing him in place.

“Well, Royal Bodyguard, let’s see how you are in action,” Hale remarked, tightly gripping his sword.

“Keep up with me, first.” Echo said before pointing Iron Justice at the Jaguar in front of him. He took a few breaths in before pressing the trigger. The bullet went straight and made contact with the Jaguar, but it only nicked it. The Jaguar, for the most part, wasn’t injured by the bullet. However, the bullet seemed to be laced with something that slowed the Jaguar.

“How am I supposed to beat somebody with a hero’s gun? Whatever, I’ll protect the back of the house.” He said as he turned around and went to the back porch to deal with the threats there.

Meanwhile, the kid was still frozen in place, disregarding him. His mind was aching to depart in one direction while his heart told him to go the other way. His body couldn’t act on both options, frozen in one spot, confused on which way to walk.

Echo, on the other hand, was moving in one set direction; towards the Jaguar. His body was racing faster than his mind, but both parts of his body were sure of one thing. He needed to kill the Jaguar as quickly as he could.

He fired off Iron Justice four times, two of them hitting the Jaguar’s hind legs. Without its hind legs, the Jaguar collapsed on its front legs, disabling it. Echo used this moment to fire a kill shot, ending the first Jaguar’s life.

He glanced over his shoulder as two Jaguars charged past him and towards the farmhouse. Knowing that the kid wasn’t going to be of help, Echo quickly turned on his heels and pressed the trigger. The bullet made contact with one of the Jaguar’s hind legs but didn’t disable it. It charged through the pain, reaching the kid and the farmhouse.

Fortunately, the servants that were dispatched alongside Echo, opened the door and quickly snatched the kid. They brought him inside, locking the door behind them. The Jaguars then reached the house, pounding their bodies against the walls.

Meanwhile, Hale was dealing with the two Jaguars in the backyard. He faced the Jaguars with nothing aside from his sword, slashing at the monsters as they neared them. Unlike Echo, who moved away from the farmhouse, Hale stayed by the backdoor. He was fending the Jaguars off as long as he could.

Echo, during this time, was busy reloading Iron Justice. While reloading, he sprinted back to the farmhouse. The Jaguars were pounding on the door harshly, slowly breaking it down. However, they couldn’t break in as Echo had finished reloading the revolver, pumping the seven bullets into the Jaguars. For some reason, the natural-born Jaguars were weaker than summoned ones. Their tough skin was nothing more than a thin layer of fur; almost unnatural.

Even so, Echo ignored the thoughts of the weird Jaguars. Instead, he focused on killing the two Jaguars before linking up with Hale to finish off the rest. Once they killed the last two Jaguars, the farmhouse reverted from a warzone to a safehouse. The threat was gone and everybody was safe.

Except, something was off. Echo noticed a weird inking on a Jaguar’s fur coat. Five interlocked black rings, revolving around a name in the middle. “C-C-Canine,” Echo muttered, grabbing at the fur coat. “Why is… his name here?”

“Is something wrong, Echo?” Mary Jane asked, popping her head in, from inside of the house. “You seem… shaken.”

“Why is his name here?” Echo repeated.

“What name?” Mary Jane questioned, walking up to the dead Jaguar and inspecting its coat. The name Canine was familiar to her. “Canine is the leader of the Black Rings group. They were the ones who tried to kidnap me. He’s the head of the group!” She announced. “But what connection do you have to them?”

“I… have a weird connection to them.”

“What do you mean?” She asked, tilting her head. She furrowed her brows.

“... Do you want to know what my Destiny Slip?” Echo asked her.

“Yes,” She said. “Does your slip connect to Canine?”

Echo nodded his head before gulping down saliva that stuck to his mouth. "Your life will be cut short by a man named Canine. He will take everything from you.” He muttered, glancing at Mary Jane. “I’m going to lose my life.”

Hello All!

The story of Destiny will be split into three seasons with nearly double the amount of episodes a usual Jayhawk Television (JTV) series. Every season (book) will contain twenty episodes for a total of sixty episodes covering the story of Echo, Ark, and Rogue.

Because Destiny doesn’t fit the same format as Silos or Legend, every season will be split in half. Book One Part One has been released with Part Two arriving sometime next year.

Thank you for reading the first half of this book; if you do wish to read more, then below are the other series in this *Generation.

Generation VII:

Black Hood S2: Ruler of the Slums [Monday]

Alternative Universe S1 [Wednesday]

Legend S2: Striktin [Thursday]

Terror Hell S1 [Saturday]

Destiny: Book One [Sunday]

The term Generation refers to Jayhawk Television’s 3 - 6 titles releasing their season’s worth of episodes during an eleven to sixteen week period. With every episode released from the titles, 3 - 6 new titles will take their spots. When this occurs, a new Generation is created. This Generation (Gen.
