“The Graduation”
Have you ever had a really special time with your daughter? Well, just listen to this story of my special time at Jana’s Pre-school Graduation. As I walked into the entrance of the sanctuary I was beside myself as I noticed adorable art work that was produced by such little fingers. The work was cherished by each individual child that created each piece of art. Jana’s art work had a collaborative collection of colors. It was amazing how she created lines and curves in dazzling directions.
I proceeded to the area that the children were being dropped off to prepare for their performance of the future to come. Jana excitedly took her spot in the room. Off in the distance, I could hear the noise of anticipating parents as they waited for their child’s arrival. The sound of anticipation led me in the right direction.
As I made my way through the sanctuary, I felt the excitement flowing through the air. I took a deep breath and smelled the newness in the air since the rebuilding of the church. My eyes widened as I noticed the similarities between Northridge and Bethlehem. It was a feeling that brought me back to North Carolina!
It was hard to ignore the sound of the parents wondering which isle their child was going to be parading down as they entered in amazement. The children were all lining up in the hallway to parade down the aisles. Their little hearts were thumping with joy. It was like the feeling you get on the first day of school! I couldn’t help but notice that the boys and girls all had on patriotic hats that resembled Patriotism. Sitting quietly I noticed all the students line up on the stage saying the Pledge to the American Flag, the Pledge to the Christian Flag, and the Pledge to the Bible. It was the kind of feeling that sent goose bumps up and down my spine like I was listening to my own mother. Jana was staring down at me as I was observing her from the pew. It gave me an excited as well as thrilled feeling deep down inside to know how worthy I was to be in her presence. I strained to hear each child’s voice as they sang “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “You are Good.”
Finally, the Graduates were presented with their diplomas by their teachers and Holly Buchanan. It brought back many personal memories watching Jana parade across the stage to receive her Diploma of Achievement. Her cap and gown glistened as the lights shined down upon her.
Looking back on this day I realized that my baby is growing up. I’m looking forward to seeing the success that she will put forth in many years to come. I love you, Jana!!!
