Timothy

It was a really hot day, I can't remember any day hotter than then. I could feel the sweat pouring down my face no matter how disgusting that sounds, it was true. I don't remember exactly where I was going but it was somewhere important, ah, yes. I was on my way to the most amazing person's house, I'm not talking about some best friend or crush, I'm talking about something I was never supposed to have, and yet being as rebellious as I am now, I don't regret a thing. It felt as I might have died before getting to the cool shade of the forest. Even though it was a long journey, It was plenty worth.

“Gaaaaile.” With his cute voice, it sounded like he was singing my name. Even though with him being the imaginary friend to a seventeen year old.. I just couldn't leave him.

“Coming Timothy!” Unlike him, my voice didn't carry out as far as his.

Huffing and puffing, I stopped, in front of Timothy's faded coloring.

“Gaile, are you all right? You're looking a bit pale.” His cute worried expression almost had me in tears, he was such an amazing person, real or not. I smiled weakly at him to calm his nerve.

“Don't worry, I'm fine. It's just a super long trip here. I wish you could be back at the house with me again like before.”

“You have enough issues to deal with. I wouldn't want to add anymore.” I couldn't resist, wrapping my arms around him and squeezed him hard. He is just far to adorable. Imaginary or not, he felt very real. After releasing him I trotted over to the old wooden house he resided in now, he often told stories about how it used to be beautiful, but how would he know? He continues with the subject of him being a ghost. But it's impossible. Ghosts are creepy, gray and definitely not adorable like him. Once there I sat down taking off my bag and pulling out a bottle of water, drinking slowly so I didn't make myself sick.

“It's just a few talking butterflies that sound like bells and some creeps hanging around.” I took another swig while he gave me a worried look. “And no, no one else complains about them. My mother even set up an appointment with a shrink. The nerve!” I chewed on my lip angrily.

“Gaile, she's just worried. She's a mother after all.”

“That doesn't mean she has to act like I'm some crazy! It's as though I'm not her own blood!” His worried eyes burned a deep hole into my soul making me tear up. “Timothy, it's not nice to make people cry.” I wiped my eyes as I said that, instantly his worried look became confused.

“I'm sorry, I keep forgetting how sensitive you are.”

“Now that's rude.” I fumed at him. You’d think I bleached my red hair with how bad I can tip to anger.

“Forgive me.” He looked down at the floor board.

“All's good.” I waved a hand dismissively toward him. That's when I finally noticed the ringing around me.

“Oh goshes, they followed me.” I glanced around waiting for the talking butterflies to fly in, but they didn't.

“Gaile, It's your...” Ignoring how unfamiliar the word was still to him I rummaged through all the snacks I brought to fine my phone, answering it quickly.

“Gaile! Where in the world are you?” My mother howled at the phone.

“I'm just in the forest, no biggy.”

“Oh dear, please tell me you'rer not interacting with Timothy once again. He's not real.” Her voice was showing her disappointment.

“Of course he is mother. He's right here.”

“Gaile, I want you home right now. Do you hear me.”

“It's hard not to.” I glanced away, mumbling.

“Now, Gaile!.”

“Yes Ma'am.” I ended the call and laid down rolling around a bit. “This is unforgivable, I just found time to come out here.”

“Gaile, you really should head back.”

“Ugh. You need to come back, It's lonely without someone to talk to you. And the butterflies just babble without listening to me.”

“If only I could.”

“You can!”

“Gaile.. return home.” Standing up and grabbing my back I grumbled a 'Yes sir.' to Timothy before making the long journey home.
