Control
Id been taken. Manipulated like jasper had been not 70 years before. Maria had been using her powers to get me to do whatever she wanted. But I refused to kill a human. I was her puppet as jasper had been. But Alice saved him. No one would be coming for me. Not after the things id said before I had left. I could still picture each of the faces. Id been so cruel. Especially as they’d taken me in.
It had been a month since I hunted and now I was losing my self control. I had only survived this long because I could shut her out, but now she’d gotten in. It was cloudy in the city, perfect for hunting humans. I had a feeling that tonight I was going to lose the battle for control.

Id seen the damage that jasper could do. How little blood sent him frantic. Would I be like that? I was surprised to find out that Maria did not plan to take me hunting, no. she brought a terrified looking boy to me.
“ no!” I shouted, desperately trying to block her out. Maria through me at the wall.
“ Bella, don’t try my patience. Just kill him.”
“No!” every time I said no, Maria would bite me or through me against the wall. Eventually I gave in and I let myself curl up on the floor. I tried to remember my families’ faces, but Maria had erased those memories.

Saviour
“Maria!” a voice shouted from behind us. I turned to look and saw Jasper, Alice, Emmett and Edward standing at the door.
“ jazz, come back and join the army.”
Jasper smiled “no!” Maria launched an attack at him. He dodged it and Alice ran over to me.
“Bella, its okay now. You’re safe.” I didn’t reply or move in case I hurt someone.
“Bella,” Alice whispered, cupping her hand to fit my cheek. Her face looked worried.

I knew that Maria had been destroyed because all of the memories that she’d taken, suddenly hit me like a bullet. The three boys came over to join Alice and me.
“ Bella, its ok. Please say something.” Edward pleaded
“we have to get out before Maria’s friends come back.” Jasper noted. Edward swept me up in his arms and we were running. Carlisle was waiting in his car. Alice sat in the front and me, Edward and Jasper were in the back. Emmett had disappeared, saying something like. “im running, it’ll be quicker!”
“how is she?” Carlisle asked Alice.
“ not good. She hasn’t spoken to anyone at all, and her self control doesn’t seem very strong anymore. When I first went over to her, she lashed out at me.”
“ we will take her hunting. It should calm her down a bit and get her to speak.”

We stopped in order for me to hunt. The others came only to make sure I didn’t hurt any humans. I didn’t. we didn’t even come across any.
Back in the car Jasper and Alice had swapped positions. Edward had decided to run the rest of the way. So I decided to speak to Alice.
“ Alice, im sorry. Sorry for everything I said before. I know you can never forgive me.”
“ I can and already have. Everyone else has to. But Bella. Why didn’t you move when I first came to you?”
“ I was scared. Afraid that I would hurt you.”
“oh. I was afraid that you hated me for not finding you sooner.”
“it wasn’t your fault. It was no ones fault.” I said, looking at Carlisle. A small smile was visible on his face, probably because I was talking.
“Bella.” jasper said. “can you please drop your shield. Fighting to get through it is giving me a headache,”
“sorry,” I said, taking the shield down. “ im guessing that I can’t go to school for a while.”
“ none of us can. Emmett and Jasper burned it down. Only we know that it was them.”
“it wasn’t our fault.” mumbled Jasper “ a newborn came into the school. We destroyed it but then we lost control of the fire.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.

The truth
As I walked into the house I had a feeling that the conversation would turn back to: what happened to me. Four faces watched me as I entered the room.
Esme broke the silence first. “Bella are you alright?” she asked, hugging me.
“im fine Esme,” Edward left the room and things got serious.

Jasper spoke. “Bella, what exactly did she want you to do?” he asked, sitting down.
“ to start with she gave me you old job. Killing the newborns when they became too old. When she heard that I wouldn’t kill humans, she made it her mission to make me hunt humans. She would take me hunting or bring me someone. Tonight I lost control, I let Maria get inside my head. I nearly killed the boy.” I said, putting my head in my hands.
“But you didn’t.” Alice stated. “jasper what’s the matter?”
“Maria has two sisters and they’ll want revenge. They both have newborn armies as well,” everyone realised what that meant. We were going to have to fight again. That’s why Edward had left the room. We were all silent. Thinking about what we might lose during the battle. I knew what everyone’s would be. Not death, for none of us feared it for ourselves. Alice’s thoughts would be about jasper and jaspers about Alice. They each thought of their soul mates and how they could stop them joining the fight. It was hopeless. The family was going to be broken apart and we couldn’t do anything to stop it. My thoughts went to my husband, my daughter and the whole of the family.

“we have to stop them. Or they will destroy the town.” Carlisle said after a few minutes.

Alice’s face suddenly went blank and her hand slipped out of mine. “what do you see Alice?”
“ sadness, loss. One will die and others will fall. The battle is over and we have lost. The town is safe and no humans have died. We each look different. Not like we do now. I can only see some of us. Bella’s hugging Renesmee. Carlisle’s kneeling on the floor examining Jaspers arm.” then Alice was brought back.
“you said one will die and it must be someone that you didn’t see. So it’s going to be either you, esme, Rosalie, Emmett or Edward.” I mumbled.
“if the path stays the same then yes,”

“ Alice can you draw a picture of what you saw at the beginning.” Carlisle asked, handing Alice a piece of paper and a pen. She drew what she saw. Everyone on the piece of paper was staring to the right. On the back Alice drew the last thing she saw. Me hugging renesmee and Carlisle looking at Jaspers arm.

We all left the room giving each other the space to work things out. At 11 o’clock at night we all came back in. This was the last night that we would all be together as a family and the last night that one of us would ever see. Renesmee linked hands with me, allowing me to read her thoughts. They were scared but confident that Alice’s vision was wrong.
“ we all wish that they were,” I whispered. I looked at Jasper and he seemed to know what I was after. A fresh wave of calm was sent out. I put my shield up. I didn’t want to be calm. It was very early in the morning and I was sitting on the steps outside the house. Jasper came out.
“you know you gave me a headache in there.”
“sorry, I just needed to think it through. I didn’t want Renesmee to feel worried.”
We sat in silence for a few minutes.
“jasper is there even a chance that we will all survive.” he didn’t reply but just one look at his face confirmed that Alice’s visions were going to be right.
“ you know if I had to die in order for one of the family to live I would.”
“ I know and that’s what worries me. If you get killed then Edward would make the volturi kill him. The volturi would take Alice and Renesmee away and the family will be broken apart. I think it’s what Alice meant by one will die and others will fall. that one of us will die in the battle and others will die after.”
“I still would. The volturi would take you to. Im sorry.”
“don’t be sorry. Its one of the things I like about you. Your determination.”
“what time will the armies attack?”
“Alice says around 7 o’clock. Edward can read there thoughts so they’re not far away.” he thought for a moment. “Bella, if anything does happen to me will you look after Alice?”
“ of course. Will you look after renesmee if I lose?”
“ you want me to. I thought you’d ask Rosalie.”
“ I trust you.”
“ I will but don’t trust me. Maria’s sisters have gifts to. Both of them can make me their puppets just as well as Maria could. Seliene can become the person once she taps into your brain waves. But don’t worry she can only do that one to me. Her sister Teriene gift is like janes except she needs contact.”
Alice suddenly ran out. “They’re early!”


One will die

We ran into the field to join the others. None of us had realised quite how big the two armies would be. There was about 70 newborns altogether.
“jasper, if either of them try to tap into you, I will put my shield around you,” I whispered. I raised my shield now. Stopping Seliene and Teriene from getting at us for a while.
They attacked and we fought back. Teriene was trying her gift out on me and got very frustrated when it didn’t work and ran off. I stuck close to Renesmee, keeping my shield around her. Then she touched my arm. mum I think uncle jasper needs your help. She was right. Jasper did need my help. Both Teriene and Seliene were using their gifts against him at the same time. While stopping Seliene from taking him over Teriene had tapped into his brain waves and was touching him on the shoulder. I concentrated and put my shield around jasper. Teriene’s hand was thrown off of his shoulder. Jasper fell forward. I ran over to him.
“are you alright?”
“guess so. Thanks, they don’t fight fair.”
“you saved me.”
I helped him up and by the time we had run back to the battle field the fight was over.
“ renesmee needs comforting,” Jasper whispered. I ran over and hugged her. I looked out. Alice’s vision had come true, except that we had all survived.
