My mother has decided it's best to put me somewhere else, somewhere 'safer' as she refers. But I know better. I know she just wants to get rid of the freak she has to call her child. I'm only ten years old, and yet I know more than any forty year old.
I see what people wish they hadn't. I feel what real pain is. I sense things that are never even supposted to exist. So when my mother sends me to Rockferd Academy, I am not surprised when it's filled with outsiders as well.
I look up at the stone walls, the castle-like struture reminds me of medieval times. Even the surrounding area reminds me of the times when there were no electronic devices or tall buildings, just trees. And more trees. Surrounding the entire perimeter of the academy, woods cut off the school from the rest of the world. Making the entire academy feel even more medieval than it already would have.
"Amara, this is the girl's sleeping quarters." Her british accent is very thick, making me feel even more out of place.
"Ok."
"Amara, I know this may be tough on you, but your mother is doing this for your own good." Headmaster Gregory says.
I look up at the old woman, and focus on her bottomless black eyes. She finally stops walking and turns to look back at me.
"Yeah, sending me to a school with a different species than me is definately better
for me." I say sarcastically.
How can going to a school full of vampires be better for anyone? I mean, won't at least one
of them try to eat me? I don't want to die on my first day of school.
"Amara, you'll learn to get used to Rockferd Academy, and I'm sure everyone will get used to the idea of a human living among them. It will just take a little time." Headmaster Gregory says, the entire time she had spoken, her fangs showed. Making me more than a little nervous.
"Whatever." I say, then turn towards the girl's quarter.
The girl's quarter looks kind of small compared to the enormous school next to it. But inside, the girl's quarters looked very spacious and old fashioned. With victorian furniture and only stairways to go up to the next floor.
I continue walking down the main hall, until I finally reach the stairs that will lead me up to the second floor. My room is on the very top floor, and this building had five stories, so I better start walking now before it's time for lights out.
I finally have made it to the fifth story and surprisingly, I have not seen anyone on my way up. Maybe it's because it's still daytime or maybe because they're in school. Either way, I don't know the answer.
I look at each individual door, until I come across Room 5-D. The room Headmaster Gregory gave me. I step up to the door and knock. No reply. I knock, and knock, and knock. Until finally I hear stiring in the room and the wooden door swings open.
"Do you not realize the freakin' time?" A shrill voice shrieks.
Even for a ten year old, the girl seemed scary. With a dazed look in her black eyes and how she naturally sticks out of her fangs.
"Um," I stammer. "I'm Amara. It's...I mean, I-I'm your a...new roommate."
Suddenly her face turns from dazed and annoyed, to full on furious. I guess being roommates with me is worse than I thought.
"I am NOT sharing a room with you." She yelps.
"Bu-"
"Especially with that scent. You are definately not from around here. You smell like humans slash something else." The girl steps closer and sniffs me.
By now, all the doors to the hallways were open, girls peering out to see what the shouting was about.
"Oh I know," The girl smirks, stepping back, so she was half in and half out of the room. "You smell like human. And loser
."
Then the girl slams the door in my face, while the entire hall is filled with giggles and laughter.
