didn't know." "You probably didn't." Kass told him. "Kristen thinks that if your husband or wife is dead, you're still cheating on them. I mean, the Bible says 'until death do we part.'" DJ said. Kassnite knew he was right. The blond had odd ideas about love. She thought that if a man and a woman go out on a date, the man should always pay. Some people do believe this, but with Kristen it got to the point of heartbreak. Slymore picked the lock to Jon's car. He was a little jealous of it. First Kassnite, now a Rolls Royce. When he crept in, all he saw was a pack of cigarettes. But when he opened the glove compartment, he found not the owner's manual, but a special sort of knife complete with a .22 calibar pistol. The knife was a knife only a member of the Scourge could have. Was Jon a member? Was he going to kill Kassnite? The only way to find out was to follow him and look up online profiles. Not just Facebook, every single one. Slymore looked deeper into the compartment, and found a Scourge member guidebook. But what was so strange was that Jon had drawn a big x over the cover and wrote Maia beneath it. Who was Maia? Was she a member too? No. Slymore found a suicide note with a drop of blood. It read: Beloved Jon, As you know, I am a vampire. I know that you are a member of the Scourge. I never should have trusted or loved you. I am going to do what you set out to do. I can no longer live with myself, knowing the man I loved betrayed me. This is what you wanted in the first place. My sister knows I am planning this. She has tried to talk me out of it. Nothing can. She's flying to America from Mexico with her husband and Mama. You cannot stop this. Love always, Maia So that was that. Maia was a vampire from Mexico. Her handwriting was very neat, and she had put a lot of effort into this letter. She and Jon had been a couple. Jon was from the Scourge, and Maia found out. She couldn't live with his betrayal, so she killed herself. Who was her sister? Her mother? Her brother-in-law? Slymore noticed a picture, one of a young woman. She was very beautiful. Dark skin, perfectly even tan, long black wavy hair that looked soft and shiny. Her eyes looked like fresh chocolate syrup, the best kind. Her eyeshadow was purple, her lips a Victoria's Secret pink. Her nails were a cherry red. Definitely attractive. This was Maia? Yes. The picture had a phone number on the back. One was Maia's the other was Charlene's, which Sly figured was her sister or her mother. Only one way to find out. He took the picture and the book. Kassnite found herself staring at a picture of Slymore. "Is he your dead husband?" Jon asked. Kassnite wiped a tear away with a French manicured fingernail. "Yes..." she started. DJ had gone home so his mother wouldn't get upset. Jon walked behind Kassnite and rubbed her shoulders. They were soft but dry. He wondered where her lotion was. He walked around the couch and sat beside her, wrapping his arm around her. She leaned against his comfortable shoulder. He walked around and kissed Kassnite. Her perfect shoulders hunched a little. This was the first man she'd kissed since Slymore. But...oh yes...Jon was a fantastic kisser. He didn't shove his tongue down her throat once and he was gentle, not forceful. He reminded her of a coral reef she'd seen off the coast of Australia. He was soft, soothing, gentle, colorful. And he had red hair and plump lips. He looked like a surfer she'd almost fallen in love with, then she remembered she was married. Surfer Boy had certainly fallen in love with her. He smiled at her, blushed when she looked his way, and waggled his eyebrows. Kassnite glanced at herself in the mirror.

Her long eyelashes seductively framed her heart-shaped face. Her plump dark lips led to her smooth flowing chin. She was the epitome of natural beauty. She really didn't need makeup, but she felt naked without it and thought of it as art. Her face was the canvas. She'd never even had a pimple, lucky duck. Slymore slithered back to his hotel room. He stared at himself in the mirror. His hair was still long, but not ss long as it once had been. I should never have waited so long! he thought angrily. He'd been waiting for the right moment to show himself and come clean to Kassnite. But he'd waited two years, and now she'd found another. He felt himself faint. Jon was getting horny. He felt Kassnite's chest, which she purred at. He bent down and kissed her lips gently, pulling away, than going in again. "I love you, " he whispered. She pulled him in, clutching his his thick red hair.

"Kass...kiss me." he said. She did so, enjoying it very much. His plump lips were like magic. So were hers. Slymore watched from the window, jealousy building up inside of him. When you're jealous, your face gets hot and red. your hadns and sometimes your whole body shakes, your heart beats faster, and your stomach feels queasy or awkward or not even there. That's exactly how Sly felt, watching his wife whom thought he was dead, kissing another man. He couldn't help himself. He suddenly walked in, startling Kassnite and Jon. Jon had pulled Kassnite's dress straps off, and Kassnite had made sure his face was covered in her lipstick.

But suddenly, there was a loud voice, breaking glass, and screams of terror. Kassnite shot up and ran downstairs, dres hanging limply on her shoulders. A creature of great proportion was tearing through the house. At first she thought it was a werewolf, then she glanced outside. It was still not very dark, but she could tell that the moon wasn't full and she spotted him in a corner, clutching at a deep wound in his chest.
