fact, I was amazed that I was even able to make speech at all.

"I don't know why she isn't calling me," he said, his face was drawn into a worried expression and his fingers circled around his chin as some people would do when they were thinking.

"Girls just need time. You can't force them to call you," I said laying my head back down on my paws.

"Maybe, but she is the one who wanted to go on this date in the first place," I heard him mumble under his breath. Sighing I rolled my eyes at his mood and closed them. A loud ring pierced my ears and made my eyes fly open in fright. Realizing it was the phone and watching Mason stumble to pick it up gave my time to slow down my racing heart. Climbing out of bed, I stretched my legs before heading into the kitchen. He like me, like his privacy and I was hungry anyways. Going up to the string he had tied around the fridge door for me to open it, I glanced around in the fridge for something to eat. Soon spotting left over spaghetti made my mouth water. Climbing up the shelf and grabbing the little bag the spaghetti was in, I jumped out of the fridge and leaped up on the counter where my dish had been placed out for me. Wow, he's getting good at this whole keeping things out for me I thought. Ripping the bag open so the contents spilled in my dish, I popped open the microwave and pushed my bowl inside. Closing the door I pushed the number 1 and let the microwave heat up my food. I was glad that I had gotten so good at doing human things with my cat body though not having hands or fingers still bother me.

"Hey Forest, I'll be back ok? I'm going out with Alise," Manson said peeking into the kitchen.

"Ya, whatever. Just bring back more milk, you're nearly out," I didn't know if he heard me or not for the door closed soon after he popped in. Sighing, I dragged my food out of the microwave and allowed it to cool before digging in.

Hours passed since Mason had left with his date and I soon found myself bored to tears so pushing the button on the TV to turn it on, I used the channel searcher to look for a good channel to watch, when I found Animal Planet I snickered and sat back to watch. Soon, halfway into the show, the door flew open to revel Mason and Alise standing in the doorway with lips locked and hands gripping each other close. Scrunching up my nose at the site I turned back to the TV and tried to dodge out the smacking lip sounds. Thank God I didn't have to worry too much about going through that, one good thing about being a cat is you don't have the need to find someone to love, plus you don't have guys shoving their tongues down your throat either.

"Oh! You never told me you had a cat!" I heard Alise say finally noticing me.

"You never asked me. Her name is Forest, I got her three months ago from the local pound," Mason said coming over to scratch me behind the ear. I let out a low purr but when Alise reached for me, there was something about her that made me cringe back and let out a low growl, my fur standing on end.

"Forest!" Mason said shocked at my reaction.

"Oh don't worry Mason. All animals are shy at first when meeting strangers. Give her time, she will warm up to me," but I could hear the strain in her voice trying to hide her disgust at finding the house occupied with a cat.

"Ya, but she never acted like this before, not even to me."

"Mason, give her time," but when she looked at me, there was no love in her eyes, in fact if given the opportunity, she would be shooting lazars at me through them. I hissed more and leaped off the couch running to the basement.

"I honestly don't know what has gotten into her but let me show you the rest of the house," I heard Mason's muffled voice upstairs. Sighing, I went to my favorite spot behind the boiler, it was warmer back there and I didn't want to be anywhere near Alise, there was something about her that just wasn't right. Curling up in a ball, I imagined myself as a human once more, my long blonde hair trailing down my back, my normal blue eyes shining brightly with the smile on my face, my laugh echoing in my own ears as one of my friends told me a stupid yet funny joke about her parents and the smile I had for my high school crush.

Hearing a door slam I awoke with a startle, looking around I realized I was still in my little spot only the area seemed to be much more tighter than usual. Trying to unwedged myself from behind the boiler I headed up stairs to see Mason on the couch with his head in his hands.

"What happened?" I asked. Turning his head to look at me I saw his eyes widen in shock as he jumped off of the couch and backed up against the wall.

"Wh...Who are you?! How did you get in my house?!" I cocked my head at him in confusion.

"What are you talking about Manson? It's me!" Why was he acting like this?

"How do you know my name! Who are you! You better tell me before I call the cops!" His face narrowed in anger.

"Whoa boy, chill. What the fuck are you talking about? It's me Forest."

"You're lying! You're not my cat!" I noticed Manson smooching to the phone.

"What the fuck are you talking about? Of course I'm your cat!" Though I did have to admit I was a bit taller than before. Turning to the mirror he kept on the wall I screamed when I got a good look at myself which was enough to stop Mason in his tracks.

Looking into the long mirror, I didn't see a cat anymore, I saw me in my human form. My eyes widened in shock.

"How could this be? How did I change?!" I stepped back from the mirror, completely shocked and slightly frightened.

"What do you mean how did you change? You're seriously messed up," Mason said behind me but I noticed his face had softened a bit.

"No I'm not. I ran downstairs when you and Alise were mucking it out with each other, I was behind the boiler and I was a cat then but how the fuck did I become human?" I turned around to look at Mason who was now staring at me with a different look on his face.

"What?" I asked, now my guard was up and I momentarily pushed back the whole turning back to the back of my mind.

"You do seem familiar, are you sure your my cat?" Mason asked.

"Duh idiot. You bought me from Cherished Hearts Animal Shelter three months ago. You and Alise came into the house while I was watching Animal Planet completely lip locked. You also were mad at me for hissing at Alise when she reached down to pet me." Mason's eyes widened.

"You really are her," he said in barely a whisper.

"No dip Sherlock Holmes." I turned back to the mirror and touched my face.

"I can't believe it, I am finally back to being normal!" A wide grin came to my face but was soon whipped away as my body once more transformed into the cat.

"Aw damn it!" I spat. I was unfortunately once more back as a cat. Lowering my head in sadness I sighed.

"Well, I was normal." I felt a hand on my head and I looked up to see Mason kneeling beside me.

"It's ok Forest. Everything will be all right," he said and I was amazed at how quickly this boy's mood swings changed so suddenly.

"You didn't act like it when I came up from the downstairs, you were afraid of me."

"No, not afraid more shocked. I know I should have reacted more differently, you told me before you were a human before turned into a cat so I should have been more open when you came up but I wasn't. I'm sorry for that."

"Well, you were always an idiot like that," I said with a smirk and I let out a purr as I rubbed his hand.

"Well, I'm tired," I said through a yawn. "Night." I went over to my bed and passed out.

Chapter 4

Mason's POV

I sat on the couch with my head in my hands after Alise had left me. I knew fighting with her about Forest was a bad idea but I couldn't give her up, despite the fact Forest wasn't your average cat, she was still one of my closest friends ever, in fact, she was my only friend. I sat on the couch pondering what happened and I knew Alise was acting like a total child, who knew she didn't like cats? I should have listened when Forest hissed at her, I should have ended it right then and there. Sighing, I heard a voice come from behind me. Startled I leaped up and whipped around to face the girl who was now standing behind me with the most puzzled expression on her pretty face and despite my fear I couldn't help but admire her.

"Wh...Who are you?! How did you get in my house?!" I asked, I hated how my voice cracked but I watched as the girl just cocked her head at me, the expression on her face becoming more prominent. Her deep blue eyes studying me as if I was insane, her shoulder length blonde hair danced down to her shoulders where they ended in a slight bow, she had on an all white t-shirt and pants on that showed every curve on her body. I couldn't help but stare in awe, she was breath taking, like an angel who had come down from heaven.

"What are you talking about Mason? It's me!" She said in an angelic sing-song voice which struck a familiar cord in my brain.

Despite the fact the voice sounded familiar, and the girl in front of me was too perfect for words, I said.

"How do you know my name! Who are you! You better tell me before I call the cops!" I hated to threaten this beautiful creation before me, I didn't really want to call the cops but I just wanted to know who the angel in front of me was and why she sounded so much like my cat. The girl's face darkens into an expression of anger and inside I wanted to scream at her to not be mad.

"Whoa boy, chill. What the fuck are you talking about? It's me Forest." She said, I took in a shocked breath. It can't be I thought though shifting back through my memories, I do recall my cat saying she was a girl before she was a cat but how could the person in front of me now be her? Last time I knew she couldn't change back, this person had to
