was going to try and levitate myself down just like what I do with the paper weight and truth be told I was a little bit scared. Swallowing my fear I closed my eyes found my centre and concentrated I felt my body rise as I concentrated on what I was doing. Slowly I lowered myself down and opened my eyes with a foot to go and I was so thrilled with myself I broke my concentration and fell that last part. I landed with a thud thanking god as I collected my shoes that I was unhurt. I took my trainers off and swapped my trainers for my heels, checking the house and grounds I kept low by running as best as I could in heels in a crouch. I left the grounds pulled out my mobile phone and rang a taxi. I waited only 5 minutes at the end of the street until the taxi arrived. Mission accomplished!
The first part anyway. I had to stay hidden and out the way so once they knew I had gone missing they wouldn’t find me straight away and drag me back. I pulled up in my black cab outside a night club in central London, reportedly all the famous stars or sports men us this place to be honest I was never bothered but Lilly loves it. I know that the club is also used by vampires and werewolves who preyed on the rich. The club had a huge line that stretched along the street; I looked at the head of the line and saw that it was one of Kath’s fledglings that manned the door.
Kath over the years had fledgling vampires who used to come in out of her life and our house but she would only turn if there was no other choice. Dean who was stood at the door was the last and that was about six years back whilst Alex my brother was still at home. Dean was built like rugby player tall, huge shoulders and a mop of blond hair and the source of all my teenage fantasies and heartache when I found out that him and my aunt had been lovers.
Plastering a huge smile on my face I approached Dean whilst I waited for Lilly to arrive “hello Dean long time” I said.
“Well hello there Sarah” he said as he sung round towards me giving me the once over, “you grown up well” he then caught me up in a huge hug that lifted me off the ground. Smiling a wrapped my arms round him and hugged him back I did always like Dean.
“How you been Dean?” I ask.
“Good sweetheart. How’s Kath?” he asked no tone to his voice. I had a feeling years ago that he and Kath didn’t part on good terms and Deans dead tone seamed to back my thoughts up.
“You know she’s just same old Kath” I replied “she never changes.”
“No she never does” he adds. “What you doing over this way?”
“I’ve come to see you of course” I answer and Dean gives me a disbelieving look, I smile then add “and would like to get in your club”
Dean looked me up and down “alone?” he said with a disapproving tone in his voice.
“No I’m waiting for Lilly” Dean rolled his eyes Lilly when we where about 17 she had spent all summer trying to seduce him. He had to be very forceful and Lilly never came back to the house until he had left. “Your safe she’s got a boyfriend” Dean looked relived. I stayed with Dean at the door making small talk for about 15 minutes. I was tapped on the shoulder and I froze thinking the worst that it maybe Kath or even Joshua. I turned and looked down into the face of my best friend Lilly.
Lilly was a good head shorter than I, she was curvy and not got a ounce of fat on her she had a blood red dress on that was similar to mine but was long with a slit up her right leg to the top of her thigh. She had black hair that fell straight and had always been thick and shiny and always behaved and did what it was told. We hugged and I then reintroduced her to Dean who looked like he couldn’t string a sentence together at the sight of Lilly.
Lilly whilst we were growing up was a complete tom boy, spots freckles and all and when she grew up she grew up to be beautiful. I don’t think Dean knew what to say so just waved us in. Lilly threw Dean her most devastating smile and we entered I turned to wave at Dean who still had his jaw open and was looking at our departure or Lilly to be more accurate. I don’t remember the name of the club, but this club had class. White walls surrounded us with long black and red drapes along door frames, the club had three floors the ground floor was where they had live acts and most the dancing was done. It continued with the colour them from the entry. This however looked more like a really upper class bar. With a huge stage and dance area which was heaving. The tables scattered around with setting all in white and chrome with some soft seating on the right and left.
We didn’t talk at all whilst we made our way through the club we wouldn’t have been able to hear each other any way. Lilly led the way to a stair case on the left towards the back which I presumed was up to the next floor. I wasn’t disappointed we head up the grand stair case and through another set of door when we entered the atmosphere was completely different. It was relaxed there was no heavy dance music like there had been down stairs. The furnishing was all gold’s and creams leather sofas and solid wooden furniture tables. The bar was situated in the middle of the room and was manned by at least half a dozen staff. There were little cubicles where couples could get some privacy. I looked across the room at another stair case but there was a huge bouncer on the door that must be the VIPs room I mused. We walked towards the Bar and ordered two white wines. I prefer beer but I was not going to embarrass my friend. We took a small table with a cream sofa and sat.
“So how have you been Sarah” she asked.
I thought about my answer before I spoke, I mean its not as if I could tell her someone tried to kill me, and that I’m a witch who is getting magical training from a vampire master who just happens to be the most powerful man in England probably. Oh and his super fit and I want to jump his bones. So I took the easy way out “I’m ok Adams and I have split up.”
“Good he was no good for you anyway” she said with a sympathetic smile.
“I know but I found him in bed with two other women, I was going over to break it off with him anyway, but you know it still hurts” a little bit of hurt leaked into my voice.
Just like my aunt Lilly burst into laughter and said between fits “I didn’t think he had it in him” and would start to laugh again. I smiled too not really ready to laugh about it yet, I noticed that we had got a few looks from a few of the other clubbers and tried to shush Lilly who as usual took no notice.
“Lilly please” I pleaded “we being looked at”
Lilly waved her hand in dismissal and said “so they shouldn’t have such boring life to want to listen to us.” in theory I agree but it’s just rude to point it out.
“So Lil what up with you” I ask wanting to change the subject.
Lilly then explained that her and Paul had split a few months ago, I started to offer my sympathy which she quickly brushed away and said that she was now dating a bloke called Andrew. She said that he was a business associate that comes by the office where she was temping and it was love at first sight and that was why she had to finish things with Paul. Lilly had been a busy girl I thought
“He will be along later” she informed me. I snapped my head round to look at her, great I thought I will have to play gooseberry. “His bringing a friend along just for you” she added. I cringed inside and kept my oh my snide comment to myself.
For the next 40 minutes or so we talked about nothing important really, she asked if we had heard from Alex, as she knew how much I missed my elder brother. I told her we had not and quickly changed the subject to her family. Just then a tall dark haired male model type approached us and dropped a kiss on Lilly now blushing cheek.
“You must be Andrew?” I stated.
“And your Sarah Drake” he replied I stood to greet him and placed a soft kiss to my right cheek. I turned to look at Lilly and discreetly gave her thumbs up. She smiled but remained quiet.
“I would like to introduce you to Peter” Andrew said and with that a second good looking man came round from behind him not so tall but stocky and a deep brown head of hair, he offered me his hand, I took it he then bought my hand to his lips and kissed the top of my fingers. Now normally when a good looking man did this I would swoon or blush but with Peter it just felt wrong and dread filtered its way through my body. There was something not right with this Peter.
The two men went to the bar to go and get a bottle of champagne, as soon as they had gone Lilly turned to me “what do you think?”
“About” I said playing dumb I didn’t really want to answer.
“Peter silly” she said rolling her eyes at me. “His very good looking isn’t he, his new and working along side Andrew”
“His new so you set me up with someone you don’t even know” I said not sounding at all happy.
“Andrew knows him and I know Andrew” she said sounding a little put out with my less than happy reception. I held me hands in surrender making Lilly smile, it all still
