The new boy

"Cloe!" He shouted her name, a few steps behind her.

Not this again, she thought. It's hard enough dealing with this shit when I'm not late for class. She turned around to see her boyfrend, Matt, with a cheeky smile on his face.

"Hey, love!" he said, pulling her into a tight embrace, making sure everyone sees them. Attention whore, she thought, rolling her eyes.

"So, have you thought about what I asked you last night?" he whispered in her ear. She took a deep breath.

"Listen, Matt..." she began, keeping her voice calm and patient. "There's nothing to think about. I said no."

"Come on,  just think about it a little longer. We're the only couple in class who haven't done it yet." he said, taking her hand. She thought about whether or not he could possibly know that for a fact.

"I'm late for class."

She hurried down the hall. She tried not to think about everything Matt had in mind which only made her have more time to worry about being late.

"Oh, look who bothered to show up!" Mr. Levins grinned.

"I'm sorry," she mumbled. "I was..." she looked around the classroom, shooting a look to everyone staring.

"In the bathroom."

She took a seat in the only free desk in the back of the classroom.

She liked sitting alone. She could space out without anyone trying to get her

attention. Just as she started thinking about what to tell Matt, two loud knocks pulled her back to reality.

"About time!" Mr. Levins flashed a cunning smile at the guy coming in.

This is something you don't see every day, Cloe thought. She hoped he would lift his gaze up so that she could see his face. He looked bizzarely unusual with dark hair falling past his chin, long dark bangs completly covering his left eye. His black skinny jeans looked deliberately shredded by a razor blade. His black Green day shirt looked a few sizes too big and his black Converse looked older than my grandmother.

"Well, this is Daniel." Mr. Levins announced. "Would you like to say something about yourself?"

Daniel kept staring at the floor. Mr. Levins loudly cleared his throat.

"Try finding an available seat in the back."

He slowly made his way to the back of the class, staring at the floor the entire time. He found a single available seat next to a blonde girl with perfect red nails and a revealing skirt. He tried to scoot away from her as subtly as possible.

"Hello." Cloe whispered.

As strange as the new kid looked, she though making him join her fan club wouldn't hurt anyone. He blinked at her, becoming aware of the glares all around the classroom. He kept his gaze on her for a split second and quickly looked down at his knees again.

Cloe caught a glimpse of his bright blue eyes. She saw him drawing something on his knees through the wholes in his pants.

"Hi." he whispered quietly, she could barely hear him.

"How old are you?" She asked, looking at his drawings.

He wrote sixteen on his bare skin.

"So..." she began, starting to realise this will be more difficult than she originally thought. "Where are you form?"

He curled up, letting his hair completly hide his face. The class was coming to a close as Daniel bent down to put his books in the bag. His shirt raised ever so slightly and exposed the bottom of his back. It was covered with painful wounds and bruises.

Cloe quietly gasped as he quickly pulled his shirt down. He risked a glance at her for a second, and looked back down.

Razor Memories

Lately, Cloe's been looking forward to going to school, since at home, she could hear her parents fight. It would go on from the moment she opened her eyes in the morning, untill the moment she fell asleep. She was stressed enough over Matt's harsh requests, there was just no more room for that. She knew that her parents getting back together was a bad idea from the beginning, but she still wanted to be supportive. She found school the best option to get away from it. Even so, she managed to be late again. Well, at least Mrs. Valle won't mind, she thought. She apologised for being late and sat next to Daniel. He looked more tired then ever. He gave her a scared look before he completly curled up. It was almost as if his eyes were pleading for help. She saw nothing but pain and fear everytime he shot a quick glance at her. She felt kinda guilty knowing something's up with that kid, but not doing anything about it. She often asked herself what was she supposed to do? She didn't know him. She knew nothing about him. She recently found out that he was actually her neighbor. He lived across the street.
