When I was younger I thought the world was a happy place. I had a wonderful family one that most people dream of. My Parents loved me dearly, my father who was a stay at home dad adored me. My mother who was at work most of the time spoiled me by bringing home treats and things she new I would love. My parents had the best marriage ever, of course there was the occasional fights but hey no one is perfect.
Yes we where the perfect family. Heck! Our house even had a white picket fence around it. Then when I was nine my mom got pregnant with a baby boy. It was a difficult pregnancy from the beginning, after only 5 months my mother was put on bed rest. We stuck together through it all and on June 9 Daniel was brought into the world, kicking and screaming! Daniel was such a sweet little boy and everyone loved him dearly. He looked a little bit like each of us. He had dad’s blue eyes that if you weren’t concentrating on them looked gray, mom’s soft nose lightly sprinkled with freckles, and my slightly curly brown hair.
Mom recovered quite rapidly but decided she wanted to be a stay at home mom, so dad got a job in real-estate. Dad became busy with his new job and, he was only home on Saturdays and Sundays. Sometimes he would surprise us with picnics or take us to restaurants or a theme park. One lovely Saturday afternoon when Daniel was 5 and I 14 dad wanted to take us on a family outing. He gave us two choices either we go to a restaurant or have picnic. It was a beautiful day so I insisted that we have a picnic. Everyone agreed with me and so we headed out for what was supposed to be a wonderful day. Little did I know that I would lose someone I loved dearly and I would have to live with that guilt for years to come.
