I am the sulphorous smog that engulfs the body. My slimy, slippery liquid clings to the skin. Like scalding oil, I seep into every pore. The color of blood-red wine blurs the eye’s vision. I may start out small and insignificant but if left unattended I will continue to grow and spread like some poisonous gas that stretched to all parts of the body, making limbs taught and the brain cloudy.
I murmur quietly, humming disturbing thoughts, whispering of murderous actions. Droning on and on, I titter. The rumble within their brain begins to grate on the mind. They resist. I shriek and squeal, my piercing voice forcing them to do as I say.
Creeping into the mouth, the taste buds tingle, for I am surprisingly sweet, as is my sister Revenge. It is a deception though, the pitiful creature realizes as they swallow. Now only bitterness is left, and the face contorts at the strange tartness I leave behind.
First, I am just a fog, but once I’ve taken hold, I turn callous. I am leather-like yet flexible, able to coil my hairy tendrils around the heart. Once it is devoid of all goodness, I overcome the once soft organ, turning it to some hollow stone that might shatter at any moment. Lastly, I claim the soul. I have gorged myself ‘til I’m about to burst. Like some bulging giant, I tower over my victims. I have won. I have transformed these beings into something so hideous that no one will dare to help. From now on I shall govern all thought and reason. I have one, for I am Hatred.
