Dreams

Saturday: 1.45 pm

“I Wrapped my arms around his neck squeezing tightly so are body’s were touching.
“Oh Addie I love you “Jake said, his tender lips were gently kissing my neck making his way up to my mouth, the heavy breathing and dancing tongues moving around in each other’s mouths brought out a interesting spark to the cold sea scented air as we stood in the sand, with are feet sinking in the moist sand.
When it’s just me and him, the rest of the world disappeared, all my problems flew away with the seagulls flying above are heads.
As we pulled apart, a gentle breeze fluttered against me and made my hair blow into my face. Our breathing came out in short speechless gasps as we gazed at each other’s eyes, his eyes were so sparkly I could see my own reflection” I lied to Sky who was on the phone to me, well we both know that’s not true, but a girl like me can dream right?

“Hmmm, you have a strong imagination! like that would ever happened” Sky Laughed Bitterly through the phone
“ What’s that supposed to mean “ i snapped feeling a bit offended.
I may not be as glamorous as Sky, she’s the kind of girl with the gleaming blue eyes and fluttering long eyelashes, the red rosy cheeks imprinted on her flawless tanned skin, her corkscrew curl's bouncing over her bare shoulders. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love Sky, I’ve known her my whole life.
Sometimes I play silly games and pretend to be Sky.
All the boys love her, she’s confident with a great figure, but welcome to my world.
I’m pale with freckles dotted on every patch of my skin, I’m extra large aka obese although my mum insists that I’m not, I have a face as wide as a plate with raggy brown hair fitted against it.

Saturday night, 12.00 am
Every scream came with a sigh.
I lay there dead still in my bed covering my ears with my pillow, but I cannot blank out the yelling, as its getting louder and louder, the walls feel like they’re closing in on me.
I hear a slap, a cold slap, then a high pitched cry. I can’t stop the tears from cascading out my eyeballs, it feels like someone has cut my stomach open, and stuck there hand right up there till they reached my heart, then ripped it, teared it, smashed it, till it was broken into tiny pieces,
“Chris, Chris Babe, You have had too many drinks” Mum sobbed, “Chris Leave Me” Her Voice Turned Panicky, and I could hear her breathing getting heavier.
Then i heard another slap, and another and another.
It was tempting to go down there and help my Mum, but she would only get more beaten, she makes out to me nothing ever happens, or if so it’s her fault, but we both know, it’s not.
I heard the front door slam, immediately I got out of my bed and ran downstairs.
A faint smell of blood crept up my nose as I entered the hallway, the living room door was closed and my hand trembled as i turned the door knob.
There was a puddle of blood on the carpet and previous stains from before, bits of smashed glass covering the rug, and there my mum sat she was crossed legged and rocking, the tears were uncontrollably streaming down her face like the Niagara falls.
It was so nerve racking and I didn’t know what to do, she had droplets of blood rolling down from a deep cut on her forehead.
“Mum” I called to her, but the only answer was my lonely echo.
“Mum” I repeated this time she looked up.
“Oh darling, I’m sorry, we must get you out of this place, but where could we go?” Mums voice came out in a panic, but her breathing was short and sharp.
“What did he do to you mum?” I whispered, then I roared it in rage. “WHAT DID HE DO TO YOU?”
“I hate him” said Mum clenching her fists, her lip snarled with rage but her eyes broke out in heartbroken tears “his left us, left us forever, and his never coming back, he got all his stuff and left”
I sat down onto the tattered carpet and cuddled her into my arms.
“Mum, I must look after you, were always close, since dad left we have been there for each other, so I’m going to be here for you now, i must look after you, i must, i must”
“But will you?” and she looked at me with strained, doubtful eyes.
I kissed her on the check, my heart full with her love.
“No wonder your dad left me” she murmured in distraction “he left me for another girl, somebody who is better than me”
I held her in my arms, comforting her as we both cried into each other`s shoulders as half the night ticked by.
The next day Sunday Morning 10.15
“We need to go to the shops, you can buy the milk for my mum, I only have enough money for her fags “Sky demanded as we walked down the streets of town with our arms linked.
“and it’s obvious you wouldn’t be able to pay for the fags, looking like that, you like at least 9”
Then as we turned the corner, I couldn’t even hear what she was saying anymore, I couldn’t hear anything, I couldn’t hear my own breathing.
My mouth dropped right open and let out a bit of dribble, I couldn’t believe what i was seeing leaning on the brick wall, and never could Sky.
“Hey Addie” Jake said to me as I walked past, his stare made me feel weak, like he had just hit me with lightening.
Jake grabbed at my arm to stop me walking, I felt tingles from the grip of his hand.
“Umm hey” I gulped to nervous to speak, the butterflies in my stomach were uncontrollable, and plus, he knew my name!
I truly love The way his shiny coat of dark brown hair brought out the blue in his crystal eyes.
“Fancy coming to hang with moii, and my homeys?” He sang in a sarcastic tone.
“What about me? oh maybe we could go hang out in my Daddy’s private jet plane, it has a massive swimming pool, a disco room and a bar” Sky boasted in her squeakiest voice.
Devil appeared on my left shoulder screaming “Just slap her” but then Angel Appeared on my right shoulder whispering in my ear “Just ignore her and carry on speaking to Jake” I was getting to old for imaginary friends, but there advise worked, So i listened to Angel.
“But you have nobody with you” i added laughing at Jake. He looked around
"Shh you will hurt their feelings” He whispered we both started looking from side to side, We probably looked like right plonkers then we both fell in heaps of laughter.
We had a spark, a deep connection, it felt magical.
Sky tugged at my jumper “C’mon Addie we better go” She fussed, tugging at my jumper harder.
“Better go, catch ya soon” I said rushing of, with Sky
“His only flirting with you because he simply feels sorry for you” Sky told me her voice was dull she didn’t seem that happy, she’s true a boy like Jake would never love a girl like me.
Two boys appeared from a bush making me and Sky jump, they were huddled up, and sniggered when they saw us.
“What do you want?” asked sky folding her arms and sighing.
The Podgy boy with the bald hair Wolf whistled at Sky, and the small skinny boy hiding behind him raised a eyebrow making his glasses slide gently down his nose.
Then before I knew it, the podgy boy walked up to me, grabbed a piece of my hair, tugged at it then pulled a funny face.
I felt like I had just been abducted by aliens who wanted to test every piece of my body.
After he marched off with the skinny boy rushing behind him like a Sheppard and a sheep.
“Well um that was strange.” I said awkwardly. I blanked the two idiots out of my head and focused on what my mum was doing, I wondered if she was still in the same position as last night, sitting down and rocking her skin so cold like nothing in her life was worth living anymore, her eyes so dull like she thought her life lived in black and white.
Then i fought of Chris how much pain he is putting us through.
I couldn’t believe him or how Jakes actually speaking to me, so many confusing thoughts are going through my head at the moment I felt so bad that i immediately wanted to go home and see Mum.
“Sky I’m going to go now, so bye, ill ring you tonight” I said and gave her a side hug.
“Ok whatever, I’ll go find Jake, maybe he will pay for the fags” she chirped, trying to annoy me.
I ran home, all the way without stopping I ran into my house and noticed my mum huddled in a ball, she hadn’t moved at all, she hadn’t even moved to go to the toilet so was sitting there drenched in her own uraine
Her eyes followed my every step making a sudden movement extremely beady and helpless, extremely squinty and razor red steamed up by the bloodshot, her heavy eyelids dropped.
“Ok mum I will take you to bed” I said gently, trying to make my voice soothing, I grabbed her armpits and dragged her up the stairs trying to avoid hitting her back on every step but by the time we got the top of the step staircase she was already sound asleep.
I put on the disguise of being responsible and mature but really my heart was pounding from beneath my t-shirt.
I lay her in bed, as I wrapped the covers around her bruised and beaten body.
I watched her sleep in silence for a bit, she was like a innocent angel as her long thick eyelashes rested on her cheek, closing her dark brown willows of sadness.
