1. Purity Hurts
I watched through my window as she drove away in her
yellow mustang. My high school sweetheart, leaving me
alone, in a room, taking the innocence I tried to
take away from her. She wants to wait until she’s
married? The words sounded weird as I repeated them
in my mind. It didn’t make any sense. When you love
someone, you were supposed to show it. Was I wrong?
I jumped as my phone vibrated on my bedside table.
The text read, “If you love me, you’ll understand.” I
closed my phone and lay on my pillow and tried to.
2. My Parent's Principle
Remember when you were little and you believed you
could be whatever you wanted to be? Girls, put on
their princess outfits and had tea with princes and
boys wanted to be Spiderman. Well, I never
experienced that. I never owned one fairytale book
and couldn’t tell you the story of Cinderella if I
wanted to. My parents taught the principle of going
after a dream which you could touch. However, now,
17, as I sit in my room and decide between Harvard
and Julliard, it becomes very clear. Sometimes, going
after your dreams is worth breaking your
parent’s “principle”.
3. FOCUS!
Gabby, focus. You can do this. Finish this book
report. It’s just a book. How boring can it be? Who
am I kidding, very boring. But, you can only blame
yourself. This is what happens when you decide to do
a book report the day before it’s due. Wait! No, I
will not blame myself. I would have had it done if it
weren’t for Mrs. Jenkins giving us so much geometry
homework. She’s upset just because her cat died. She
shouldn’t be upset though, I’m sure she has 19 more
cats! FOCUS! Finished Chapter 1! Wait...Is my phone
ringing?
