I was born when a newborn baby had its very first laugh. I had a new little white robe with little rime stones, well of course I was a fairy. And my name was Kayla. I saw all the fairies sit in there groups on a leaf. I went through the talents, but none of them seem to fit me, until I have been chosen to be a tinkering fairy! The land was all new and spectacular. When I first walked into my room, my closet was filled with little leafy clothes. The clothes didn’t fit me at all they were way too BIG and I was a small, skinny fairy! So I made some minor adjustments. I cut off the sleeves, I cut part of the bottom because it was dragging across the ground. Then I heard a knock on the door, “Come in!” I yelled.
“Hello, we are the other tinkering fairies and you are?” They Said.
“I’m Kayla. Hey how do you like my dress?”
“It’s amazing.” They said at the same time.
I snapped my fingers and they shook their heads.
“Oh. Sorry. I am tumble and that is crocket. Let us show you around.”
“Why, Thanks.”
So we left my house and they showed me what the flower fairies do, what the animal fairies do, even the light fairies. I was amazed at what they do. It seemed as that they were all doing something part of nature! After the tour they showed me my station and I went to work. I invented a really cool thing that I don’t even know what to call it.
After my station I went to explore more of the island. I had training almost every day, but Thursday. I had so much fun, I got to invent these mechanical devices. Once I made this thing that you crank a handle and a silly clown-fairy pops out. They were so amazed! I was born to be a tinkering fairy and I loved it! All the teachers were so impressed that the Fairy or Miss. Abella came and congratulated me and then I had to be thought how to use pixie dust. She said, that if you sprinkle it on something that can’t fly it will magically fly up. She said it was located at the north corner of the Maple Tree.
I had so much fun, I had a week of vacation so I played tag and watched the fairies do their jobs. I even met 5 friends. Anne, Iredesa, Camille, Margret, and Alyssa... They were the best, they were all the different types, animal fairy, light fairy, and all the others.
The week went by so fast that I never got my pixie dust, “I will just order some.” I said to myself. I called them and they said they would have some by the end of the week, “Thanks.” And I hung up.
I helped the other tinker fairies, too. I showed them the steps and they got the hang of it in no time. I even got paid, I got 24 gold coins! I was so excited!
By the end of the week I had to go to the pixie dust factory. They had my order in a little mailbox. I went up to the counter and I rang the bell.
“Hello?” I asked. And this really cute boy named Dan, walked up.
“Well, hello.” He said.
“Hey. I got my pixie dust in the mail box. How much gold coins?”
“Um, 2 coins…”
“Wow. I have 24, cool!”
“Well I have my break in about 5 minutes want to hang out in this cool area?”
“Sure. I would love to…”
“Great see you then.”
After I left, I jumped up in the air and started to fly.
“Oh my gosh. I can fly!”I yelled! It echoed through the halls of the empty hollow tree.
I met Dan and we flew off to the place. It was on the other side on the island. I thought of it as our own hideout.
“Dan, let’s keep this our own little hide out to keep to our selves. Should we?”
“We should, so then people can’t bother us about this and that.”
I came here almost every day, with and without Dan. I started to like Dan more day after day! People were looking for me all over and I always had an excuse. They believed me all the time, but one day they were on to me. So I didn’t go to the hide out at all and I was stuck at my station doing nothing.
“Guys! I know you are behind my desk!” They all flew up and were so amazed at how I did that!
“How did you do that. We were so quiet!” Iredesa said.
“Oh I know, but I heard someone sneeze.” I said. They all looked at Alyssa, “What I have allergies.” She said in a confused voice.
“Ok. I want to ask you something.” I said.
“What?”
“Why were you so annoying. I can’t do anything because every time I turn around there you are standing and pretending like you are talking and pretending you are doing your job!” I asked in a mad voice.
“Well because every time we need you, you are not at your station and nowhere else. So we want to know where you are going. So we know where to look.”
“Well, I am not playing I am just, at the pixie factory on my break time. And then I go to the flower fairies!”
“Oh. Well we will look there next time.”
“Yeah, you do that” I said with a slanted face.
The next day I woke up with a smile because it was Thursday and I go to hang out with Dan the whole day and go to our new hide out, but I had about 1 hour of training. But at least that is better than the whole day.
After training Dan came and met up with me and we went to our hide out. I was so excited because I found so many new things like gears and pins and many other things. Dan and I sat and talked about almost everything! It was so romantic! We laid in the sand and almost fell asleep. I stood up and found Dan asleep.
“Dan, wake up.” I told him, while I shook him.
“Huh, what?” He said with his eyes half open.
“Wake up we fell asleep.”
“Oh.”
“Well, I have to go.” I said and I flew off.


Dan didn’t talk to me for almost 2 weeks and I was so humiliated to talk to him after what had happen between me and him! I invented the jack-in-a-box, the twirly-twinkle, and the wall mirror. I finally graduated from my training! On my breaks I would go up in a little tree and hang there, it was my new hide out.
After a month I saw all the fairies were gone, so I looked at my old hide out and all the fairies were there and were playing. I went up to Iredesa and asked if he saw Dan.
“Yeah, I think he took a balloon with his friends and went flying up to show them this part of the island.” She said.
“What!?!?!?!” I said with a furious voice.
“Yepp.” She said.
“Where are the balloons?”
“Courtney is selling them.”
“OK. Thanks, Bye.”
“Bye.” She said.
I went and flew over to Courtney, “Hey can I have one of the balloons?” I asked
“Sure.” She said and she passed me a balloon.
I flew up, and followed Dan. I was so mad at Dan that he did this to me and our friendship, we swore on it. I thought to myself.
After about 30 minutes, we both landed on the ground.
“DAN!”
“Oh, hey.”
“What the heck is this.”
“What?”
“This, all the fairies.”
“Well, since you bailed on me a month ago, I got lonely without you, I invited a couple of friends and I forgot they don’t know how to keep a secret! “
“I can’t trust you anymore!” I said and I ran off.
“Wait!” He said his final word. I went and hid in my special hide out in the tree.
Everyone was looking around for me, but I didn’t bother to come out of hiding, “I just do not get it! Why would Dan do that to us! Especially me.” I said to myself.
Then all of a sudden, Dan, found me in the tree. He flew up behind me and I fell out if the tree. Every fairy came flying up to me because they saw that I got hurt, “Are you ok?” They all said at the same time.
I rubbed my head and said, “Yeah, I am fine.”
I flew to my house and shoved my face in my pillow. My head still hurt a little bit. There was a knock on my door, “Come in.” I said.
The door opened and a head peeked out. It was Crocket! “Hey, Kayla.”
“Hi.” I answered.
“So, can I come in?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come sit down.”
“So, do you like the other side of the island?”
“Yeah, it was awesome.” I said with a slanted, kinda sad face.
“Are you okay, Kayla?”
“Uh, Yeah. Just a little tired.”
“Well, I have to go.”
“Ok, Bye.”
“Bye.” And Crocket left.
I got out of bed and left my house. I went to my station, and started to build some stuff. I built a little thing that when you take a key and turn it in the spot, a beautiful ballerina pops out and it makes a beautiful song. I loved it. I even put it in my room so at night I can fall asleep better. It actually helped!

Dan came to my work at his break and kept sending me letters apologizing on what he did. I kept throwing it away because I can’t accept his apology, because he really hurt me he promised me and he broke it. I don’t think I can trust him anymore. My garbage can was full of papers that were from Dan. After work I decided to tell him that I was tired of his messages and stuff, but then I thought maybe I shouldn’t he’ll get mad at me.
After work I went over to his house left a message on the door telling him that I was sorry for our little incident. The next day he forgave me and we were friends again,
When we were older we got married and had our first little baby. We adopted it and named her, Mary, now we are a happy family and we live happily ever after.
