Elaina Griffon stood in the middle of her bedroom.There was clothes strewn all across her bed.She picked up a dark green sweater and held it up,looking at herself in the mirror.She studied herself for a bit,then frowned and layed it back down on the bed.
"Elaina,how is the packing going?"Her mother called from the hallway.
"I can't decide on what to take with me?"Elaina called back."Everything I look at I decide no on."
Her mother laughed as she pushed open the door."Well,I picked you up something today while I was in town."She held up a bag."Want to see what it is?"

Charles blinked his eyes open and looked around.Elaina was laying on the ground a few feet away from him,and there was a man standing over her.
"Hey,get away from her!"He yelled slowly getting to his feet.The man turned and looked at him,he had a knife in his hand.He turned back to Elaina,and Charles noticed that he was cutting her shirt off.
"Hey,"He yelled again,getting to his feet and walking over to them.He grabbed the mans arm and tried to pull him away.The man swug his fist around,catcing Charles in the jaw.He fell backwards,landing an a bag.He glanced inside and seen another knife,grabbing it he went after the man's arm again.The man swung his hand around with the knife,barely missing Charles' arm.Charles thrust his knife forward ad felt it connect,sinking deed into the man's stomach.He fell forward and klay still.Charles stood staring at the man's body,the blood pooling beneath him.He forced his gaze away and dropped down beside Elaina.
"Lainy?"Charles said."Lainy,you have to wake up."He looked around them and noticed a farm house just across a field.He gripped Elaina around the shoulders and dragged her into the ditch,and behind some bushes."I'll be right back Elaina.I do't know where we are,but I have to find us some different clothes."He pulled himself back up out of the ditch and started walking towards the house.When he got closer he could see a some girls standing outside laying some clothes out to dry.Another girl set a basket full of clothes down just on the other side of the barn.Charles ducked down and snuck closer.
He sneaked up to the edge of a barn,and peeked around the other side.The girls had their backs turned so they didn"t notice him grabbing some clothing from the baskets.He slowly backed up and when he was back out of their site he turned and ran.When he reached Elaina he frowned."Will you please wake up?"He asked."Please don"t make me dress you."
He sighed when he got no movement from her.He sat down on his knees beside her and started untying her shoes."Please?"He said again.

A few moments later he had the both of them changed and their clothes buried under a pile of dirt and rocks.He glanced over at Elaina trying to decide what to do next."Alright,I am going to try and carry you.Hopefully I can find someone that will help us."
He picked her up and managed to left her up over his shoulder.He began trudging down the ditch to stay out of sight until he was away from the farm.

He managed to carry her down the road for what he figured had been close to an hour.The farm waas now out of sight and he began walking on the road.After a while longer he moved them off the path and settled Elaina down against a tree.He sat down next to her and leaned back.He had just closed his eyes for a few minutes when he heard the sound of horses coming.He jumped up and struggled to get Elaina up over his shoulder,he took a step back to catch his balance when there was a voice behind him.
"Are you in need of any help boy?"A man said.
Charles jumped,caught off guard of the man being so close,the man caught his arm,steadying him before he fell."Easy boy,if you need help we can give you a hand.What is your name?"
"Charles,and this is my sister Elaina."Charles said."
"What is it Phillip?"Another man called from the road.
"It's a boy and his sister my lord,"Phillip called back."I think they could use some help."
"Bring them up."
"Come on lad,let me take the girl."Phillip said.Reaching out he took Eaina from Charles."Up to the road with you."
Charles follwed him up to the road,where a group of men were waiting on horseback.Phillip montioned for him to stand next to a man on a tall,dark bay horse.
"I am Lord John,"He said."What is your name boy?"
"I am Charles Griffon,"Charles said."This is my sister Elaina.Our parents died from a sickness,and we were taken by a group of men.They said they were going to take us some where and sell us.I was able to escape and get Elaina free as well."
"Where are you from?"John asked.
"We were living in London,"Chrales said."My father moved us often,so we never really had a place to call home."
John looked down at Phillip."Hand me the girl and see if you can find the lad a horse.Give him a little bread and wine.We will be making camp soon,and can get him and his sister settled down and cook can fix them something with a little more substance."
"Aye sir,"Phillip lefted Elaina up and helped settle her in front of John.He took a cloak from another knight and wrapped it around her."Come on boy,"He said to Charles."I'll find you a horse."
Charles looked up at Elaina for a moment,hesitant to leave her.
"Your sister will be okay,"John said."Go with Phillip,we'll be making camo in another hour."
John glanced down at Elaina as Charles walked after Phillip.He gently brushed a lock of blonde hair back from her forehead.She stirred a little,but she didn't wake."Come along lads,let's get moving and get camp set up before dark."He called out,spurring his horse forward.

The sun was getting lower in the sky when John called for a halt.The men dismounted and started clearing a small area to set up a few tents,while others gathered firewood.Phillip walked up and took Elaina down,he called to one of the knights and they layed out a pallet on the ground."Let her rest there until my tent is finished,"John said."You and your sister can stay in there with me tonight and you can tell me more about what these men said."He said,turning to Charles."If you have no family,then maybe one of my knights will take you ina dn train you to be a squire."
"I would like that sir."Charles said.As he wrapped a cloak around Elaina."I don't how we got here,or how we can get back sis,so for now we have to fit in.He whispered as he sat down beside her.
"Hey boy."A man called over to him."If you aren't busy come give me a hand."
Charles stood up and walked over to where the man stood."I need someone to gather some water while I get a fire going for supper.There is a stream just over there."
Charles took a the bucket from him and walked off in the direction he pointed."Hold on a minute boy,"Phillip called.He walked over to him and handed him a small dagger."Carry this with you until we can get you a proper weapon."
"Thank you sir."Charles said.

Elaina moaned and opened her eyes.She blinked a few times to clear her vision then looked around."Charles?"She asked.
"Elaina,your awake!"Charles scrambled up to his and hurried over to her."I have so much to tell but right now just listen.I have no idea what happened but we are some how back in the past,The year 1154.King Henry the second as just been crowned king of England."
"What?"Elaina said."Did you bump your head on some thing?"
"Come on,"Charles said,grabbing her by the arm.He helped her over to the tent flap and pulled it aside.Elaina gasped at all the men walking around them,most of them dressed in tunics,swords were hanging from their waists.
"Where are we?"She whispered to Charles."In England,in the year 1154.Lord John and his men found us,I told them that our parents were dead and that we were captured by men that were going to sell us."
Elaina looked around then ducked back inside the tent."What am I wearing?"She asked when she looked down at what she wore."And who dressed me?"
"I had to."Charles said."A very unpleasant experience to."
Elaina glared at him then jumped when the tent flap suddenly opened."Your sister has woken then?"A tall amn asked.
"Yes,Elaina this is Phillip."Charles said."Phillip my sister Elaina."
"My lady."Phillip said,bowing to her.He turned back to Charles."Lord John is looking for you.Your suppose to begin your training with Richard today."
"Oh,I almost forgot."Charles said."Come on Elaina,I will introduce you to Lord John."

Elaina folled Charles closely as they made their way through the camp.Alot of the men called to Charles.She was suprised at how easily Charles spoke to the men,how her younger brother seemed to fit right in among the fully grown men.She followed Charles and Phillip into another tent.The man inside had his back turned to them.He turned around when they entered and his eyes locked with hers.
"My lord,"Charles said breaking the silence."This is my sister Elaina,Elaina this is Lord John."He gave her a small nudge and motioned for her to curtsy.
Elaina gave a small wobbly curtsy."My lord."She said softly.
"Elaina,I am glad to see you are awake.How do you feel?"John asked.
"I feel weel,thank you."She said.She looked up and met his gave for a moment before quickly glancing back down to the floor.
"You must be hungry,"He said."please,have a seat and join me."He looked at Charles."I believe you are to meet Richard for training?"
"Oh yes,"Charles said,giving a quick bow."Elaina,Lord John's brother is teaching me how to be a squire and maybe one day I will become a knight.I will come get you after I am done."He said as he turned and left the tent.
"Charles,"Elaina said,but he was already gone.She looked back at John who had pulled a chair out for her.
"Please,sit."He said again.
