I watched as my body took on a life of its own. I looked from Megan to Damon and wondered how I was going to fix this. I know that I said I was going to die tonight but I wasn’t planning to. Megan looked scared and Damon looked like he was about to lose my mind. I watched as my body floated toward where my father stood looking more helpless than I have ever seen before. He actually looked scared. Of me! Well not me in the exact form of the way. Damon was yelling but I couldn’t hear what he was saying. My body lifted my right arm aiming toward my father. The arm lifted, lifting him along with it. I stared in amazement from the outside window of the house. I looked kind of cloudy blue and I seemed to drifting further away from the scene. I tried pulling myself back to where Damon and Megan were but it was like I was being pulled away.
“What’s happening to me?” I asked myself and was surprised when I was given an answer.
“Stop fight child,” a female voice said. I looked around me and saw nothing.
“Who’s there?” I asked confused and a little freaked out. A chuckle circled around me and I looked anxiously around me.
“Relax child. We are here to help you,” a male voice said in return. I felt a blow in my direction and was greeted by a pretty woman in a pretty dress.
“Hello dear,” she said smiling. I flew back scared. “There is no need to be scared Drucilla.”
“How do you know my name?” I asked.
“Of course we would know the true love of our youngest son,” said a man appearing next to the woman in the dress.
“You’re Damon’s parents?” I asked nervously. They nodded and I wanted to disappear.
“Oh don’t go transparent on us dear. We just want to meet you,” the woman said. I shook my head and was visible again.
“Did I die?” I asked confused.
“No dear, you forced your soul out of your body before that power of your consumed it. It was quite amusing to watch. You are a very powerful and beautiful you woman,” the male said smiling approvingly. I smiled slightly back and looked at my surroundings. We were in a gigantic house or mansion in what looks like a ballroom.
“Where are we?” I asked.
“We are at the family mansion,” the woman said adoringly. I saw in her eyes how much she loved this place.
“Damon grew up here,” the male said. I smiled just imagining the type of kid Damon was. It made me chuckle.
“I didn’t catch your names,” I said looking at them. The woman shook her head shamefully.
“Sorry dear. We forgot our manors and assumed that Damon has mentioned us. My name is Grace and this is my husband Charles,” she said pointing to the male. I smiled at them both.
“Is there any way that I can get back to where Damon and Megan?” I asked. They looked at each other and then back to me.
“Drucilla, there is a reason we pulled you away from that,” Charles said. I gave him a confused look and he sighed. “The only way to stop the power was to kill your body and that means your body no longer has a heartbeat. You have no host to carry your soul.”
“That can’t be. I have to go back to them. They need me. I can’t just leave them,” I said panicking.
“Relax child. Neona will eventually find away to save you. Just relax,” Grace said touching my face. Her touch felt cold and unreal like water was caressing the side of my cheek.
“Who’s Neona?” I asked a little calmer than before.
“Neona is our niece. She is an advance soul reader that tried to save us but failed. It wasn’t he fault.” Charles said proudly. I started panicking again.
“What if she can’t save me?” I asked. I thought about how sad Damon would be and how sad Megan would be without her only sense of guidance.
“Don’t worry child. You will return and I am thankful for you,” Grace said. I looked confused. “Damon wasn’t always the social child growing up. He seemed like he hated everything and everyone. On every occasion he would deny any girl that would ask him to dance and he would sit alone at a table for hours.”
“We worried about him for so long. That week he came home to visit, we saw something different in him. A new spark,” Charles said.
“It was like he was finally breathing,” Grace said happily. “He spoke of you so little that I was dying to meet you.”
“Sadly we died the next day by the hand of our first son,” Charles said angrily.
“Alexander was too far gone with power to feel any regret to his actions. He killed us and almost killed Damon,” Grace said. She looked away disappointed at her first born.
“Do you hear that dear?” Charles asked Grace. She listened for a second and clapped with joy.
“It is time,” she said cheerfully. I smiled and followed them through the mansion. I heard voices from in the next room. I was surprised to see my lifeless body sprawled on the couch. I bent to touch it but my hallow hand went right through it. I watched as a girl about Megan’s age gave Damon a hug. He pointed at my lifeless body and spoke but I didn’t hear a word. I looked at Megan who was looking at the girl without caring. She seemed to be answering some questions. It wasn’t until the last few questions that her face lit up with excitement. I wanted so badly to hear what she was saying to the girl I figured by now is Neona. I watched as Neona scattered up the stair with Megan at her feet. Damon had lifted my lifeless body and was talking to a tall man in a butler suit that he must have called for. I floated behind him as he carried my body to a room similarly designed to the one back home. He placed my body in the center of the bed and the man in the suit came in with a rag. He left soon after leaving me, my body and Damon alone.
I watched Damon ripped my shirt open and placed the rag over body’s chest. He placed his hand on his chest and I watched as little sparks of lightening zapped my body. My body seemed to become its natural color and I gasped when it started breathing. I felt surprised as Damon looked. He kept sparking my body with the little shock and my bodies breathing became better.
“Oh no,” I said as I was being pulled out of the room into another room. Megan and Neona sat on the floor with their eyes closed. I was heading toward Megan and I couldn’t stop. I felt something crash and the next thing I know, I am examining Megan short hair with her pink polished nails.
“Oh boy,” I said with Megan’s voice. I gasped and looked down.
“It worked,” Neona said calmly.
“Uh, not exactly the way I was expecting,” I said feeling my face that wasn’t mine. “This is just too weird.”
“It’s just until Damon get’s your heartbeat steady,” Neona said. “Hello, my name is Neona.”
“Drucilla but not in the flesh,” I said holding out my hand as she giggled at my small remark. She shook my hand and motioned for me to follow her. She led me carefully into the room where Damon was still giving my chest little shocks.
“She’s ready,” Neona said standing across from him. I stood beside her watching him.
“You couldn’t wait for a chance to feel on my chest,” I said. He looked at me like I was crazy and realized who I was.
“Focus Damon,” Neona reminded him. “Drucilla, all you have to do is place your hand on your stomach and the transfer will begin. Damon, don’t stop until she is fully in her body.” I placed my hand on the stomach of my body and took a deep breath. I felt myself being sucked into my body and I crashed as the last of me entered. I opened my eyes weakly unable to move. I heard something hard hit the floor but I couldn’t see anything clearly.
“How did I do?” Megan asked weekly. I wanted to get up and hug her.
“She is fine. She is just weak. She needs to rest,” Neona said pulling her to her feet.
“You did good, kiddo. You did well,” Damon told her.
“Megan!!” I called out for her. I tried sitting up but fell right back against the mound of pillows.
“She can’t move yet. Her body isn’t functional yet,” Neona said to Damon.
“I have her,” Damon said. “Take Megan to a spare room of her liking.”
“Welcome back,” she told him.
“Thanks,” he said. I watched him as he watched Megan and Neona leave. He turned to me looking more exhausted than usual.
“I can’t move,” I whined.
“No you can’t,” he said sitting beside me.
“Why can’t I sit up?” I asked.
“Because your body isn’t fully awake yet,” he answered. I looked at him for a few seconds.
“I’m freezing,” I said. I tried to cover my chest with my arm unsuccessfully. He reached in the draw of the nightstand and pulled a shirt from out of it. He pulled it over my head and laid me against the mound of pillows.
“You saved me,” I told him.
“No I killed you,” he answered.
“That wasn’t me. I was gone when you heard me gasp. That wasn’t me,” I repeated.
“I would have come back in some form,” I paused weakly debating whether to tell him. I decided that I would. I lifted my hand weakly to his face weakly. “I saw them.”
“Saw who?” he asked confused.
“Your parents,” I answered.
“Mom and dad?” he asked. He held my hand to his face. I was feeling tired and I don’t think the words I was saying was the same words at the words I was thinking.
“They said they never saw their little boy so happy and so sad,” I said not remember thinking the words. I was getting tired and becoming a little dizzy. “They begged me return to you even though that was my intention.”
“Sleep now Ace,” he said. He pulled my hand from his face and kissed my palm. He placed my hand by my side.
“Don’t leave me,” I whispered to him. I closed my eyes and listened for his every movement. I listened until I drifted into a deep dark slumber.
