Chapter 1

It all started at summer camp in 1973. I was only 11 then, but I remember it all as if it was yesterday. "What happened?" you may be wondering. The murders are what happened. One particular murder was of a girl named Allie Maye. No one knows how it happened, or exactly what it was that had killed her. All we know is that by the time we got to her, there was no point in trying to help her. Before I get into my story, I need to start you off with the basics. My name is Sarah Meadows, I am 57 years old. I do not like telling this story, for it fills me with great morbosity. The only reason I am even speaking of this unfortunate event, is to warn whoever is reading this. The camp I went to was called Camp Allen. It's an unusual name because you hear of camp's being named after their lakes or something famous that has to do with the camp. As I was saying, the camp was called Camp Allen. What I am about to tell you is about many gruesome murders, but as I had said before, it is mainly about a young girl named Allie Maye. Allie Maye was...Strange. She wasn't very popular, actually, she wasn't popular at all. To everyone, she was known as an outcast. She was full of timidity, which made it even harder for her to make friends. The kids at Camp Allen had thought of her as futile, since she had failed to have any sort of life at all and didn't have any friends. Allie and I shared the same cabin, but I hadn't really got to know her. She just stayed on her bunk either reading or just sitting there. I had tried to talk to her a couple of times, but it was hard to being that she was scared out of her mind by anyone at the camp. A certain kid, Shawnee Langerstone, was the main predator in the camp. In Shawnee's eyes, Allie was the prey. To the camp counselors, Shawnee was notorious. Some were scared of her, but most had dealt with her kind before. When it came to Allie, she was just glad that she even lived each day without any broken bones. She had only been in one real fight with Shawnee, and that was the first day that they met one another. She didn't really get physically hurt, but emotionally wise, she felt as if she had been stabbed multiple times in the heart. I know I can't really say how Allie felt, but I can only imagine that she felt heartrending.


Chapter 2

One day in the cabin, I was changing into my bathing suit, when I heard a huge shout coming from outside. I ran outside to see what had happened, and I saw Shawnee standing over Allie holding a book. As I got closer, I saw that the book said Diary on the front. I then knew that Shawnee had embezzled Allie's diary. Her diary was her only piece of privacy that she had. A huge group had formed to see what was going to happen, and to my surprise, Allie punched Shawnee in her stomach. Everyone gasped as Shawnee toppled over and Allie grabbed her diary. As soon as she grabbed it, Mark, the main camp counselor, came over to see what had happened. All he saw was Shawnee on the ground gasping for air and Allie standing there with her fist clenched. Allie tried to explain, but no one would take her side for they were terrified that Shawnee would soon recover and come after them. Mark called for help, so he could get Shawnee to the infirmary, and he sent Allie to the Camp Office. She had a grim look on her face as she leisurely walked past all of the gawking campers. I already knew that this entire thing was going to end badly, but I didn't know how bad that this would end up being.


Chapter 3

There was a turmoil in the camp. Allie had not been sent home, and Shawnee hadn't talked to anyone since the incident between her and Allie. As a matter of fact, Shawnee had a nomadic look to her. All she did was wonder around, with a confused look on her face. I think she was surprised about getting hit by Allie. Even though there was so much drama going on with the whole Allie/Shawnee situation, Allie was mellow. She seemed like she didn't care, she just continued to act like her scared self. When I was walking back to the cabin one day, I noticed that the cabin door was ajar. I walked in to finding Allie cutting her ankles. I was shocked by what I had saw, so my first instinct was to run up and grab the razor out of her hand which is exactly what I did. When she saw that it was me who had stopped her, she started to cry. I sat there and held her for about an hour, as she implored me not to tell anyone about what she had done. I promised her that I wouldn't, but I was worried that she would be marred by the cuts. I convinced her to never do it again, and I told her that she could talk to me if she needed help with anything. I began to realize that this whole situation between Allie and Shawnee was going to create havoc across the entire camp grounds.


Chapter 4

About a week or two later, Allie had gone hiking by herself. She told me that she wasn't going to do anything bad, and if something bad was to happen, she would fight her way out of it and run back to me. I took her word for it and let her go, not knowing this would be the last time that I would be able to see her alive. After three hours had passed, I began to worry about her. I knew something bad had happened, because I could feel it. The worst part was that Shawnee was no where to be found either. Without telling anyone what I was doing, I began to walk toward the hiking trail. About a mile up the trail, I hadn't found any trace of her. I began to run as fast as I could. After about 10 minutes of running, I came upon Allie's diary. At first, I didn't think anything about it, for I thought that she just forgot it here and was on her way back to get it. I picked it up, and a piece of paper fell out. I picked it up to look at it, and with complete shock and disgust, the paper read "If you want her, come find her." I let out a low moan, for I knew she was dead. It wasn't a feeling this time, but the note was written in blood. I knew for an absolute fact it was Allie's blood. I ran back to the camp as fast as I could, and I ran into Mark. He was just the person that I needed. Without hesitation, I grabbed his wrist and ran with all my might. We ran and ran until we found her. It was a terrifying and gruesome sight. Her body had been mangled. She was covered in blood, her teeth were laying in a pile next to her, and she had patches of hair missing.


Chapter 5

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was more like I didn't want to believe what I was seeing. I knew for a fact that she was gone, and whatever had hurt her had left an emblem. The emblem was a picture of a big X carved into her chest. The words "Don't Underestimate Me" had been carved underneath it. We know it had to be a human that had killed her. The first person that came to mind was Shawnee, but no matter how much she hated Allie, she would never have the nerve to kill her. So many thoughts were going through my head, that for a moment, my mind was disconnected from reality. What had brought me back was the sound of Mark yelling. He had left and had gotten some more counselors. One of them rushed me away, for they said I didn't need to see anymore than what I had already saw. Hours later, Mark came back, telling me that there was no evidence left behind, so we could not find whoever had done this to Allie. I was mortified, because whoever was out there could do the same thing to anyone, including me. I was so scared, so I began to pack all of my stuff up, and told Mark that I wanted to go home. At first he tried to veto what I was saying, but I ran past him and grabbed the phone in the Camp Office. I told my mom what happened, and within 20 minutes, she was there. She took me home, and told me not to think about what had happened. It has been many years since that day, but I don't know if the person the killed Allie is still out there. I want to warn whoever is reading this about the killer. I hope this does not happen to you or your friends, like it had happened to one of mine.
