The Only Chapter

Evening time in the Sweet Garden was always John's favorite. Evening was when he got to see his favorite baseball team play every Sunday. The Salem Ravens played at the Sweet Garden, located on Rose Road. They had won the World Series the past three years in a row, and are hoping to continue that streak to the longest one since 3099, when the Seattle Mariners won it all for the third time. The next year, the Mariners lost to the Chicago White Sox.

John had his season pass out, and the attendant scanned the ticket. John walked through the gate into the great Sweet Garden Field. It was one of the biggest stadiums in baseball, and by far the largest in the American League. As John walked towards the 20 by 20 hologram of that day's lineup, he noticed something strange. A family crying. He wandered up to them, not wanting to look like a stalker. Eventually, he decided to ask them what was the matter. The wife, still sniffling, didn't say a word. Her husband said,

"They took our child! Our only child!" The elderly couple sat down on a shiny wood bench and cried. He asked what the child's name was, that maybe he could help.

"His name is Charles VanUrguan II. About six feet tall,"

"Oh my god," he managed to squeak. Charles VanUrguan was an All-Star from the Boston Red Sox. Charles II was an All-Star for the Ravens. He couldn't believe he was in the presence of one of the best players that had ever lived! He thought of what would be even better. Having Charles II there.

"I'm gonna get him back!" he yelled over his shoulder, already sprinting off. It was bad enough how much attention he caused back at the Sweet Garden. After all, he was a spy. Growing up, he always had wanted to play for a professional baseball team. All was going great, he played up through college. That was when he had a car accident. He lost an arm and a leg. Thanks to the modern technology, he got an arm and a leg almost identical to the original ones. He tried playing ball with it, but couldn't throw it far at all. He knew his baseball career was over immediately.

Running down the cracked sidewalk made him feel even more desperate to find VanUrguan. He thought about just how lonely he might be right now, kidnapped, in a prison.

When he arrived at the police station, he reported the situation. They showed him a video from a surveillance camera. It looked like a black van had taken him east. They told him that they already had cop cars tracking down the van. That at least made him feel a little better. He sat down in the red leather chair to rest for a while. He knew the head police would make all efforts he could.

When John awoke he found himself on a medal bed. He looked around. He was caged in. John started to panic, then thought of his Force-Field-Breaker. He thought that if it was strong enough to break Force Fields, it must be strong enough to break a simple medal pole. When he checked in his pocket, nothing was there. Only a note. He read it once:

Dear Prisoner,

We can only assume you have connections to the Seattle Police Department. You have been taken away from the building, but we are not willing to inform you of your current location, in the concern that you may find a method of contacting the outside world. By all means make yourself at home here.

-Love, The I.T.S.

Ahh the I.T.S. That hadn't been a name he had heard recently. The International Thief Society leader was one of craziest people anyone could ever meet!

He suddenly spoted something out of the corner of his eye, interrupting his train of thought. It was Charles II!

I Lied! Chapter Two!

"Hold on!" John yelled thru his metal cage. He pulled his steel bed off of the wall and smashed it against the side of his cage.

"Help! Help!" Charles II screamed. Smashing his bed against the side of the cage probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, for it set of a loud, blaring alarm, but it would do. He burst out of his cage and smashed his bed against Charles II's cage. Just as fast as they started running, they got trapped. Men with huge laser guns were everywhere!

"Let's talk this out as gentalmen, shall we?" John asked.

"Put your hands in the air! Both of you!" Yelled the obvious commander. He recognized this man's face immediatly. It was the leader of the I.T.S.

"Sir, you don't understand! Why would you want me? I'm not rich at all!" Charles II lied, "I mean sure, take the spy person, but not me!"

John felt insulted by Charles II's statement, but knew he must stick to his mission.

"Get back in your cells!"

"Okay, okay... Calm down butt breath!" John teased.

"That's it!" Screamed the commander, and shot right at John. He easily dodged the laser beam, and escaped with no harm.

Both of them returned to the baseball stadium, just in time for the next baseball game. Charles II played that game and went 3-3 with 1 homerun and 2 RBI's.

John and Charles II grew to be old freinds, and when John died, Charles II greived until his death several weeks later.
