John looked at the sky. There was no moon, no stars... just dark clouds. The wind grew strong and drops of rain started to fall. Afraid of getting wet, he quickly ran towards their home. John's home is a bungalow type house with a white gate located just in front of the playground. As he opened the gate, his grandmother greeted him with a smile.
"How was school, John?"
"It was tiring and I have tons of homework to do."
"Come inside and let's have some dinner first before everything else"
"Did mom and dad called?"
"No. Not just yet."
John slowly removed his shoes and got a pair of slippers from the shoe cabinet.
"It's been weeks and we haven't heard from them..."
"You worry too much, child! Let's go inside."
He followed his grandmother inside the house and to the dinning room.
Chapter 2 The StormAfter dinner, John went straight to his room. He wrote a letter to his father who is working in London. He looked at the window, and still saw the dark clouds in the sky. It also started to rain heavily. Suddenly, there was lightning and thunder. The power went out. Afraid of the dark, John screamed.
"Grandmother, where are you?"
Silence.
"Grandmother!!!" John screamed loudly.
Then he heard footsteps.
"Stay where you are, child and I will get you some light."
John was relieved to hear his grandmother's voice. He sat on his bed and waited for her. On the window, he could see the reflection of the lightning everytime it strikes. The loud sound of the thunder also made him jump out of fear.
A few minutes later, his grandmother came to his room carrying a candle.
"Here's some light, my boy."
"Thank you, grandmother. Is there a storm coming?"
"I'm afraid so. I heard over the news that there is one heading our place i a few hours."
John quivered. "I'm scared, grandmother."
His grandmother placed her arms around her grandson to soothe him. "Don't worry. We are perfectly safe here. Just pray to God and He will protect us."
"Okay, grandmother" John whispered.
Chapter 3 The End
After a few hours, the wind blowed loudly. Large drops of rain can be seen hit John's windows. Thunder and lightning was non-stop. John was already lying on his bed trying to sleep. But he can't because of the storm. He wanted the storm to be over. "How long will it take before this storm ends." he thought.
Then he remembered the song his mom sang to him when he was little. He started humming to the tune of the song. It made him relax. Soon he started to get sleepy...
The next morning, John woke up to the sound of the birds chirping. He got out of his bed and opened the window. The sun was shining so brightly. He was relieved to see that the storm is over. He quickly changed his clothes and rushed out of the house.
He looked at the sky and began to smile. He knew it was going to be a great day today.
"Look, grandmother, there are no more dark clouds in the sky!"
