His smiles, reminded me of spring-colors, flowers, and pleasant weather
But today, when he grinned, I felt disgusted...how could someone so close to me give me shrieks? Why was my heart screaming, telling me to run?
I felt a knot in my stomach and a lump in my throat just as he took a small step towards me. His sinister smirk was still there on his face and in the badly-lit room, he looked beastly.
I rubbed my eyes before squinting. The view wasn't clear, it was a very dim and dark room and only some light came from the old-rusty bulb, which was dangling in the middle of the room, swinging. He was slowly-but steadily-moving towards me. Stopping, he stood right beneath the yellow bulb which was attached to the ceiling making my view clear.
His jade green eyes sparkled and his typical Italian features, more visible now, looked weird. He was wearing casual jeans and a tee with a Grey jacket. There was a part of me which said that he was my best friend, my best friend who was always there with me in all the tough times like a pillar, there wasn't any need of being scared of him!
I stood up from the floor where I was sitting cross legged, and suddenly the world around me started spinning. My legs were weak and my head ached. I held my forehead and tried to lean on something but feel on the floor.
He started laughing and continued towards me. I leaned back on the wall still sitting and closed my eyes. I couldn't remember where I was and why I was there. Why was I scared of a friend? We spent half our lives together, then why in the world was my heart racing with every step he took, why was it telling me to flea, to run? This part was taking over the other one who was defending him. Only I didn’t know why?
I opened my eyes again and he was so close. My breathing rate increased as I tried to stand up. My feet felt funny and I stumbled.
Only this time He grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him. His face was clean-shaven, and I could smell his musk cologne, with a hint of cigarettes, and alcohol.
I felt weary and out of breath, my view wasn't clear and when his hand made its way inside my hair, I couldn't help but gasp—being friends I was attracted to him, but as a friend...so why was I letting this happen—He pulled me towards himself and his lips touched mine, slowly and softly, but I'd noticed something else which managed to send cold chills down my spine…
A pool of red blood.
And while his kiss was tender, good enough to calm anyone-in any state, I felt my heart race again as everything clicked to me like a splash of cold water.
He was unaware but I was fully alert now. Adrenaline pumped through me as I said my last prayers to god. My fists clenched and I pulled my hand as far as I could without breaking the kiss. And before I knew it, my fist was on his ear and then he was on the ground while my eyes drifted away towards the corner of the room where a body lay in blood.
That was of my fiancé Luke I noticed. I ran towards it and pleaded to the dead body to wake up, to come back to me. My heart ached and tears ran down my face. I gulped.
I have to run. I need to escape; Luke would've wanted me to be safe.
And so I did. I got up with a start and brisk walked towards the only outlet. I felt pain surge and noticed my leg was soaked in blood. Nevertheless I still tried to move as fast as I could.
And finally after moving here to there in the big mansion, I found stairs and marched down them, then finally towards the huge door which shouted exit.
I sighed in relief as I held the doorknob.
I was about to turn it when someone clenched my sweat-damp hair and pulled me. I shrieked with pain, trying to shove the pull off but the grip-tight and harsh-didn't allow me to turn.
“Do you think you can run? You can leave me?” It was him, shouting.
Damn it! What did I thought, I could knock him off with just a single punch...?
He was pulling me by my hair and it caused pain. Still I tried to think…when something just clicked in my head
“Not so soon!” I growled, producing a knife from my pocket. I scratched his face while he shouted in pain. Somehow, I felt smug while he shouted his heart out, what a loser, but I didn’t have time for standing and praising myself. Without giving a second glance, I ran towards the main door as fast as I could with my hurting body. Only I wasn’t fast enough. His hand again pulled me by my hair and this time I swore.
“Stop it! Stop! You can’t run from me! I love you and you are meant to love me, now stop being a baby and come with me!” he was shouting as hysterically as I was swearing. I stopped and turned to look in his green eyes filled with beastliness. I gulped.
“No! I don’t love you and I never will” I said helplessly, he produced one of his twisted grins and looked at me, amused. But he didn’t know what was coming.
I held the knife in my sweating hands and without another thought, I stabbed him.
Before falling on the floor he gave me one of his disgusting grins and whispered in a way that gave me shivers
“I will always love you” and retaining the smug expression he slowly rested in peace leaving me alone.
