Chapter 1- The truth
*****************************
The sky was just now starting to turn blue, and the sun just rising. She stepped out on to her balcony and carefully climbed down the ladder that she had put there the night before. She had always wanted to jump over the Science Lab's fence and see what was really inside there. She wanted to because she knew they weren't really telling the truth about what they had back there. And with all of the wierd reports of people dying she knew they were up to something. If they were telling the truth then they wouldn't have the fence anyway, because she knew plants couldn't walk. Although, she knew that if she did she would be caught without a doubt. That was until yesterday, when she walked around the whole base and found a hole in the fence, big enough for her to get in and out in a hurry.
She stood below her balcony looking up and exhaled a breath and focused on sneaking in.
She walked back to the hole in the fence, nervous the whole way. She looked at the hole in the fence and just stood there frozen. She jumped down and crawled in. Not wanting to be seen she stayed down as low as she could and stayed behind the tall grass. She saw 2 people in the distance wearing lab coats. She closed her eyes and opened them again and watched them walk back inside the building. That's when she realized that even if she found something she couldn't tell anybody. Or could she? She thought as she crawled further knowing that she was safe for now.
She squinted her eyes seeing something run toward her in the distance. It looked like a human, but in a way it was too pale to be a human. Blood dripped from it's mouth as it opened it getting closer with each breath. She saw bright lights floating all around her and the creature stopped dead in it's tracks. That was when she knew it was time to go. Se stood up not caring if anybody saw her and took off running through the hole and back to her house.
She figured the thing would run after her, but it didn't. She couldn't quit looking back as she ran either, but here she was back at her house safe and sound even though she didn't know how. She climbed up the ladder into her room and pushed the ladder over onto the grass below. She quickly closed her window still thinking the thing was after her. She plopped down on her bed and looked up at the ceiling. She knew she had to tell someone about this, but she didn't know who.
She lay there with a grin knowing who to tell. News reporters were going to be in the town square today. With her watching the news all of the time, freaked out about the whole 'odd killings' situation, she knew where they would be tommorow. She sat up putting on nicer clothes immediately. She ran outside to her truck fumbling with her keys as she heard movement in the woods.
"shit." She mumbled as she dropped her keys under her truck. She bent down and reached for them and heard something running toward her. She grabbed up her keys and unlocked the truck, slamming the door beind her. She locked her doors and looked out her window only to see red eyes looking back at her. Her eyes widended as it put it's hand onto her window.
