Prelude: How It All Began

If I can remember, it was an extremely hot day. It was in the middle of spring in New York City, and the temperature was in the high 80s, a weird temperature. I was looking out the window, blanking out. I don’t know but for some reason, I just had a weird and depressed feeling. Suddenly, the school bell finally rang. “Oh thank god, this boring class finally ended.” I sighed. You see, I was in the middle of 8th Grade History class after transfering so many times. No offense, but history just ain’t my thing. Didn’t feel like talking, I quickly left without saying a word and went straight to Montefiore.
When I finally got to Montefiore, I signed my name in the registration of Room 203. I took the elevator to the 2nd floor, and as I walked pass the hallway, many doctors and nurses were hurrying past by me. Oh yeah, here’s another thing I dislike, hospitals. Whenever I walk in one, I just feel like I’m walking a freaking cemetery only that it can be loud or quiet. Oh well, finally I got to Room 203.
I knocked on the door and smiled. “Mama?” I said, “I’m here.”
“Oh Nike, what took you so long?” my mother grinned jokingly, “I might have died before you came.” I glared, and she laughed dimly. I brought a chair next to her and sat down, placing all of my stuff on her bedside.
“Geez, Mom, don’t even kid about that!” I scowled, “We’re in a hospital you know.”
“It’s just that it’s so boring around here,” she sighed, “I never get any fun around here.”
“God, what a weird mother,” I said. She started laughing.
“Please, Nike, you’re even worse,” She giggled. I shook my head, and wanted to get mad at her like most people. Unfortunately, I couldn’t, her laugh was just too contagious. I could never got mad at my mother and my mother could never have gotten mad at me. Our relationship with each other was just so weird, we were almost like close sisters. We continued to talk about the events that happened to us in our daily lives and laughed as if no care in the world.
She coughed. What’s even worse, she coughed blood.
“Mama,” I shouted, “Oh my god!” As I quickly got up from my chair to yell for help, my mother gripped onto my arm.
“Nike,” my mother now whispered, “I have something to tell you.” I looked at her like she was crazy. She coughing blood, and she still wants to talk? What the hell? My god, she’s gone senile. I tried to pull my arm again.
“Nike, DAMN IT, LISTEN.” She snarled. Oh shit. Damn she must be serious, if she’s pissed. “This is important.” She started cry. Oh god, I hate it when people cry. It makes me unsure of what to do and makes me feel bad. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t tell you this but you have a brother.”
“. . . . .” I stood there dumbstruck. “WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?” I YELLED.
“I’m sorry, Nike that I hid this from you.” She continued to cry, “And also, your father is still alive.” “I just didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t want to disturb him and our son.” She coughed again. She seriously needed medical attention. “Nike, now that I told you, I beg you to please find your brother.” “That’s all I ask of you.”
Her grip loosed, and I quickly left the room. “Someone, please!” I sobbed, “Please, help my mother!!!” It turns out everyone heard my scream and two nurses and a doctor quickly came in to assist my mother. “Please, mama, please don’t die!” I thought. At the time, I was confused at what was going on. Too much was going on for me to understand. Sudden news about my brother and my father and my mom suddenly coughing blood made me so confused, but I knew one thing for certain. I had to find my brother.

Intro

"Ok class, time to open your textbooks to page 95."

"Ugh, LET ME OUTTA HERE! " I thought to myself.  Hey again, readers, if u read the previous chapter, Im nike.  so here i am in ANOTHER school.

"nike, the guidance counselor is calling u," ms. silkybobo said

"HALLELULAH. damn i just hate history, no offense to those ppl who like it, but nobody nowadays got time for dat!" i thought. and as you should also know i HATE HISTORY. I walked outta the classroom, feeling the glares of my classmates. "hey, not mi fault blame the teacher for teachin such a lousy subject.

I walked down to the first floor and turned to left.  i saw some of mi classmates who stopped to look at me and snickkered.  "oh plz, not tis again."  i gave them the finger and walk straight to the guidance counselor.

"Hi, nike~" ms. waila smiled.  finally someone i like.

"hey miss~" i giggled as i took the seat across from her.  She had dirt-blood short hair and was quite pretty for her age.  after our introductions, she looked at me wierdly.

at first it was funni, but now its just getting creepy. like sheesh, wat do i have a booger or a cockroach on mi face?  "ugh miss, what?" i asked.

"no, never mind" geez, i hate it when ppl do dat, it just gets me curious.  "Nike, i just have to say um..are you sure dat you want to choose this as ur high school?"

ahh...now tis is making sense.  "you sure u want to go to DeWitt Clinton Highschool?" u see, ladies and gentlemen, tis school, is an isolated school where the notorious delinquents study or at least try to.  The highschool is always in lockdown supposedly and so its like a prison.  These guys are called the Governors.  from what i heard they were so dangerous dat they were lik stuck in the basement.  well, never mind them, there's also the Middlais who are either average or below in their studies. then last and least the Absolutists.  from what i know, theyre scholastic skills are top knotch and have the greatest priveleges.  Their like the student supreme government.  whats makes things even worse is dat the captain of absolutists was just gone. haters say dat he must have gotten shot in the balls or something like dat.

"Can you please at least tell me why you have to attend there?" she pleaded, "Nike, even with your exeeding latenesses, you can even go to any top schools like Bronx Science. like plz, lady, i might as well go to chinatown, i rolled mi eyes.  "little does she know, im just gonna have to find mi bro" i sighed.
